    Our modern world seems to be constantly on the move, but there are some places where time has permanently stopped and nobody seems to care about them anymore. This happened to the former house of the family Meus, after the last inhabitant Miss Susan passed away, there was nobody left to take care of the property and the time stopped forever. For the better part of 2 decades, Susan lived in this wonderful grand house all on her own. But there is something strange about this place, the lights still shimmer on the belongings that are left behind, in other words, the power is still working, this makes questions arise, who is still paying for it and why? Before it got abandoned this house used to be the home of a Luxembourgish family, they were the owners of a rather large convenience store in the center of town.
    They even accommodated a deprived worker of the store to live in a special apartment inside their house. The family was well respected for it and received a lot of love from the citizens of the town.
    Today we will try to answer the strange questions that arise around this home and solve its mystery.

    Much deep respect for Mrs. Susan and her home. I used to live near Homburg, Germany and one evening, I drove to Luxembourg to dine in one of its finest French restaurants. It was such a beautiful and wonderful experience that I will never forget. I agree, Luxembourg is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing Mrs. Susan's special abandoned home tour. 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻

    I must say it was a relief, when you found a front door after all…..(down the stairs). I had a horrible picture of that poor woman climbing that rickety old ladder to enter her home from that barn, as you did. This video left me with unanswered questions though…..as seemed like a crazy floor plan. I can’t help but wonder who built and planned this odd type of home. Perhaps it was rented out sections of the house, as it appeared multiple kitchens…..but only noticed one bathroom. Thanks as always for your most interesting tour of of abandoned homes. See you again in your next visit. 💋🧚🏻‍♀️

      The home is old. Lot's of additions and modernizing over the decades - perhaps centuries. Not unusual to find in Europe.

    Hey Lesley, love Susan's home, it was the unending house, there were doors after doors. It was such an unusual way to enter the house, that ladder looked so scary, please be careful! Susan was very neat, I don't think I have ever seen a house that neat. She was very religious, when you went up to the attic, there was a cross with Jesus Christ hanging up on the wood. Great exploring, stay safe, love ya!

I'm glad I had but IV made mistakes I wish I hadn't thou ,I find grandkids are second chances to do it better you learn as you get older what's so important,I don't wont togo to my grave with regrets. Heyy Lesley, how wonderful to watch an Urbex video in the middle of the week! - How great is that! - That is a very nice mansion.
    Incredible to see all the furniture and a lot of other personal items in such an untouched shape - and of course to see the electricity
    still working. - The furniture and the pictures on the walls of that nearly empty room looked like a museum. - I found the walking
    dresser of the lady of this mansion quite fascinating to see with all her clothes left abandoned in the wardrobes, as if she would
    return in any moment.
    The living room with the very comfortable sofa, armchairs and the beautiful cabinets with the displayed glasses was very beautiful
    to see, - actually a legit time capsule.
    Wonderful explore, my friend! I enjoyed watching, - and once more it was so nice to see how respectfully and with great tenderness
    you were approaching the history of this mansion and the background story of the former owners. - These empty rooms, you found in
    that mansion, were on the other hand somehow strange to see. What might have been the purpose of that empty living space?
    Take care, stay safe, dear bro, and I am of course looking very much forward to your next explore adventure.
    Many hugs and blessings! - Peace and kindest regards.

    I get a strong feeling not all history of this family is told from what remains. To many things or items are missing. No one could function totally with this minimal amount of items. It is obvious a family was once there with live in help. A mystery remains why such personal property is not claimed. Seriously take a look at how clean items are compared to the automobile.
    Very few pictures of family or gatherings for a abode this size. Someone somewhere knows the rest of the story. For heavens sake her last entry was to have her nails done and the bathroom was very clean as well.
    Now you have peaked my interest for the remainder of the story.
    Also I am puzzled why the land not claimed or sold in a place where space is a premium among wealthy people.
    This does remind me of the older aged Italians who acquire properties and never rent them out to anyone. They sit empty of life. It is as if owning them is enough and a display of wealth. My friend in Italy has mother in law who owns 4 homes besides her own and has never let them rent, have a tenant.
    I agree with another commenter here…no rugs. No bedroom? Much left untold.
    This is a teaser video.

    Son muy amplios los cuartos, mucha luz y me gustaron sus cortinas. Lo que más me gustó es que no está muy recargada de cuadros, adornos y muebles.
    Yo creo que Susan era la hija de ese matrimonio y fue la última que vivió en esa casa porque la foto de los recién casados por su vestimenta se ve que es de los años 50's.

    Everything once you cherished, will left alone to rot. Your loving self when you leave this life, will turn to dust. Home that once was your peaceful heaven, will be home for spiders. We are all here on this earth, on a temporary basis, isn't that so? What we should gather then...? Neither money nor any kind of physical property but relief...peace of mind. Seek only for relief, live happily and die happily. This is what I learn to firmly believe from your videos dear Lesley, and let me thank you thousand times for this. Stay safe! Love from Sri Lanka!

    What an absolutely HORRIBLE life for those poor bunnies. She obviously didn't have compassion for animals to make them suffer so. Lesley....why did you stop opening drawers in dressers and the doors to wardrobes? Every once in awhile you do, but not nearly like you used to. It's really obvious in places that are not jam packed with things....you just breeze in and out of the rooms. You also missed on the calendar....she turned 68 on January 6. At least we got to see that and her wedding photos...personal items.

    There is such a lonely sadness there. I can’t imagine living completely alone for 20 years after my husband had passed away. I can only imagine the dreams they had of traveling when they would retired and finally have time to relax and be together. He was taken away too soon and so was she...Did they have any children?. The chest in her wedding picture was probably an family heirloom that was given to her for marriage..

Nowadays living alone for few decades or even 50 years alone after your spouse passed away is very common in Japan. Especially women live longer than men in average. Also we know from statistics that husbands live only few years at most after his wife dies but wives live for decades after their husbands die. Not romantic but reality. Women are used to taking care of themselves lot more than men.

    Another great video, as usual. I know Singer was a very popular company, but I have to say, the last thing I expected to see in your videos was a Ford Fiesta! Ha! Thank you for letting us join your amazing adventures!

    All of those cages in the basement make me sad. Imagine living, breathing, sentient creatures existing in the dark with no natural light and little fresh air. Whether the rabbits were raised for pets or for a food source they still deserved to have natural light and fresh air. I saw a video from China where the family consistently picked up their rabbits by their ears. I wrote a comment begging them to stop doing that. When people consider animals or other people less than they are it becomes easy for them to excuse their cruelty by saying “It’s just a rabbit.”

    • @aquatadevore9335
      @aquatadevore9335 2 года назад +6

      Oh God I hate it when people pick them up that way, how would they like it if a giant (if one existed) picked them up by the ears?

      Agreed, Whomever kept the rabbits in those tiny dungeons in the dark was one cruel SOB. I hope it wasn’t Miss Susan.

    The sewing machine might be a Treadle.
    It gets power by a pedal that is pumped by someone's foot.
    It does not need electricity.🌻

    Not unusual. My siblings and I take care of the old family home. Nobody lives there, but it's like a shrine to our parents and family. Eventually, one of us will move in when retired. Selling it is out of the question. It's our home! That house can be fixed up and comfortable in quick time, especially the roof. Contractors love those jobs!

    Hello from Ohio, Lesley, I’m wondering if the dining room table was not a sewing machine table. It appeared to have a cut out in the top that would hold a machine at table level. Most likely electric as the treadle is in need of repair. Thank you for the nice video.

  • @lucretciaseven4873
    @lucretciaseven4873 2 года назад +1

    The first room you came to I am pretty sure was a sewing /workroom as the table was perfectly square and was probably used to cut out cloth from patterns or do other close work seated at it. The second room you entered which was empty but with a chandelier in the center of the room looked more like it may have been a breakfast room or informal eating room The piece of furniture you thought was a bed in the attic was not a bed it was a daybed or what used to be called a fainting couch for napping or resting and yes that was indeed a washing machine., however it is a light duty washer that one uses for delicate clothing like lingerie.

      Lesley, I came across your channel when I was taking care of my Mom. She and I got hooked on watching many episodes. She was 90! When she passed. She and I noticed how gentle a young man you are and so respectful. Has anyone told you you have a soft voice? It is kind and you seem so knowledgeable. I noticed you even appreciate the fine work in the spostry of the furnature. I am with you , that stairway is memorizing! I believe that the prettiest one we have seen. You even show us the suits and clothes they wore. I have a question, how did they laundry the suits back then? Don't think they had dry cleaners. Please be careful out there
      God bless you and your brother. Ginny , Florida

    The house is really interesting. Am wondering if where the car is located was a barn. It does seem odd how the layout of the house is bbuilt and very little furniture is left behind. There are many questions that are left unanswered.

    What a wonderful home, and there is nothing wrong with living alone, I have for the last 15 to 20 years myself.
    The downstairs looks like it may have been an apartment at one time, hence it being empty. I think someone is talking care of the house as much as they can. The leaking roof is most likely beyond what they can do.

    This was an amazing place. WOW! It's so big. To think that once there may have been some 10 to 14 people living in this huge place. Lesley, when you showed the attics, and the roofs, I thought that maybe this house(s) was built inside a barn or another large building. Strange place. At least it served many people. Thank you for this wonderful documentary.
