- It wasn't her first guitar memory, but a late introduction from drummer Joey Bellerose has continued to school Jason Mraz's lead-guitar foil in confident, clear playing with plenty of "dance moves."

Ooh Molly sounds so sweet w/ her mad guitar skill!
I was in high school in Fort Wayne IN in 1972. Used to listen to a Cincinnati FM station and they played JJ Cale so I got the LP Really. Lies Lies Lies. In the late 1980s my sister was living in Mill Valley CA and I was visiting her when JJ Cale was playing at the local club Sweetwater. The one time I got to see him play and it was completely delicious.
Thanks for the awesome music, Molly!
I've seriously learned more about playing with feel just watching Molly play, than anyone else.
I can listen to Molly Miller, Phd all day! I love that J.J. Cale rocked her world. It has always been my feeling that J. J. was, if not the most then one of the top few most under-appreciated songsmiths of the rock era. What a great line from his music to hers!
Great riff of After Midnight. I discovered JJ in the 80's and got to see him once but I'm an old guy. JJ is definitely in my top 5 artists and Ive seen and heard a lot. So glad you discovered him. Such a hidden talent-

Dr Molly is incredible!
When I was in college a friend helped me to understand and appreciate Coltrane. "Here are the first 8 or 16 bars. You are both a listener and one of the musicians. Keep this going in your head, and the whole rest of the song will totally make sense." Mind blown. It didn't hurt if I was a bit adjusted, but as Stevie Ray proved, that's immaterial after you move past it. World opened. This is a great example of that. Terrific stuff. And yeah, Cale. There a reason Clapton lives in awe.
I love that Molly is such a talented, goofy dork.
She understand rhythm from the inside out. Amazing. 💙
Dang!Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Great playing. Love the energy.
Just BRILLIANT!!! ❤
JJ on the Clapton guitar festival was just awesome... he plays... just different. different phrasing.. everything.
discovering JJ Cale was a major revelation for me. Naturally is an incredible album. He just has the coolest feel/vibe. Molly described him perfectly.
I think my favorite of his might be "Wish I Had Not Said That" or "Don't Go To Strangers"
These are my current favorites, too. I also love "Everything's gonna to be alright" - I'm pretty sure every song on "Really" was a hit.
Wow!
MM does JJ 🙌
Luv her!!!!
fantastic
Thanks for the performance (many of these tidbits are mostly talkie for geeks like myself)! Your groove was as deep as any JJ performances, with your own alluring mix of spices. Love it
Amen, young girl, I discovered J J Cale in 1984, one of the most unknown’known’ artists ever.. everyone knows Cocaine, but hardly anyone ever heard of J J.
His voice is also so soothing.. just a fantastic artist, who gave inspiration to so many well known artist, but be himself remains almost nameless..but I guess he preferred it like that.
Cool😎
Molly Miller You Are Awesome❤
Every musician’s DNA is influenced by those who have gone before us coupled with years of practice. Research Clapton…JJ Cale and other Legends!
Please ignore the jealous critics and haters. They are grossly outnumbered by those that love YOU, your Style, Passion & Talent
What they think of you is None of Your Business!
We Love You Just The Way You Are❤
❤
Check out Duane Allman's playing before the Allman's
👍🎸
Molly, great stuff. Thanks. Do you know JJ Cales New Lover? I love that wicked guitar line.
Play girl tear it up! I play the guitar a les paul and i love blue's.
1 word: HOT !!! THX Molly !!!
VERY NICE MOLLY
I want to play like you
lol at the tongue. 👅
John Cale was an amazing songwriter, guitarist and singer.
And an even more interesting individual.
There are a couple of documentaries about him… they’re definitely worth a watch.
Good stuff.🎸👍

Wtf are you yammering on about?
JJ Cale’s name is NOT JJ… that’s his stage name.
His name is John dummy.
John.
Go read a book.👍

Well then…
Perhaps you shouldn’t pipe up about things you don’t know about.
I put up a comment to pay tribute to a legendary musician I RESPECT and admire.
Not to get idiotic replies from someone who obviously knows little about him.
Next time… mind your own business.👍🥃
I stan hard for her. Amazing.
How do you play so well with those nails?
I’d like to see a video on the highest and lowest gauge strings you can possibly use on an Electric and an Acoustic Guitar in Standard Tuning 🎸🤟😎 ☮️
Drum machines?!
Molly, you are so much better than he is.
Your lick thinking is on the same track as mine. It’s nice to see what you’ve come up with. Thumbs up.

I prefer Cale’s simple, honest, tasteful & soulful version. J.J. was never about showboating or being a bobblehead.
Didn't your momma ever teach you to keep quiet if you've got nothing nice to say? Molly is a monster player and doesn't deserve to be put down or called names. The video title is Molly Miller on J.J. Cale's "After Midnight", clearly her own spin on the classic. Had she played it "simple, honest & tasteful & soulful", every troll would be saying she doesn't have the chops or expertise to talk about JJ. Come on.......you can do better.
@@bretschwartz I’m not being a troll. I like what I like. You like what you like. J.J. Cale was a master of feel & groove. Molly does nothing for me. She overplays to impress. Miles Davis said, “It’s not the notes you play, it’s the notes you don’t play.” Miles was a true monster.
@@PKM_69 She’s really good but, notes are like a conversation. You can make a short story long (with a gazillion notes) or you can just say what’s important, sweet, meaningful & to the point. That’s what I love about Cale. It’s a choice of notes, I suppose.
Ya, You’re a Troll!
Dr Molly Miller means she’s got some pretty substantial qualifications.
Your opinion is clearly negative.
What are Your qualifications?
Opinions are like A holes…everyone has one & Yours Stinks
what the hell was that?? Nothing to do with jj cale nothing to do with anything
Leave JJ alone, girl
"I kind of write songs hoping that musicians will take them and make them better and more accessible," - J.J. Cale

That's what a good PR can do. Just a below average "musician" getting away with tasteless chops just because she is great at pretending. She is all faces but no music or tone at all.
Wow, that is one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen on the internet. This below average musician has a doctorate and heads the guitar department at the L.A. College of Music.
....tell us she dumped you without tell us she dumped you...
Says Doug The Slug
Nice. Tho one of these days we'll hear loud explosion & it'll be Molly's body: that couldn't take any more of unnatural over acting. Rest Molly, rest. That was JJ's secret. He rested. Naturally, that is.
That's one of the characteristics that some of us love about Molly. It's like she feels every note.
@@kitano0 Maybe with more practice she could double tics. Bit of white powder as well & we have world's circus winner. We'd applaud, eh. Pay money. Surely people who don't show "feelings" are not having them... She's so above all; especially above JJ Cale, he couldn't show feelings, he was so cold, soft spoken...
