    I've been playing his music since 1971. He never played that song the same way twice. Do yourself a favor and get into his catalog and find out how to play guitar. Clapton said he was the best he ever heard. He was and is. You have no idea how many people play his music.

    at one of the crossroads shows he did with clapton , the dozen guys on stage start this song, the whole thing starts to wobble and chug along.......jj is waiting.......finally the guys find the groove jj is playing and it comes together.......then..... he finally starts the first verse. his stuff is nearly impossible to play, even with friends at the house because everyone hears or KNOWS how its SUPPOSED to be played, but they don't, do they?

    • @omarks
      @omarks 5 лет назад +3

      There's a dodgy aspect to English show biz which gets away with basically stealing other people's acts. Keith Richards totally ripped off Chuck Berry's sound and Clapton is a serial stealer, with any blues artist fair game in his earlier days, then moving on to rip off Bob Marley and the Wailers song and sound, then JJ Cale...

    • @AthelstanEngland
      @AthelstanEngland 4 года назад +1

      @@omarks to be fair he made them a lot of money from royalties from his covers and more important he was a major player in putting them both in the spotlight. Bob Marley hadn't had anything in the charts before Clapton covered I Shot The Sheriff. Clapton spoke to Bob Marley about the song and apparently Marley liked it & JJ was very open about Clapton bringing him success and always considered himself a songwriter foremost. Likewise Clapton appears to have always been generous in his praise of both men.

    • @spiralmoment
      @spiralmoment 3 года назад

      @@omarks I don't really like anything Clapton did after cream, but if he hadn't played JJ´s songs, JJ would have been a lot less famous and a lot poorer. also playing other peoples songs is not stealing, its showing admiration, respect and love for the music. of course if you tell people its your song its another thing, but Clapton is a huge JJ fan and he always credited him.
