I have one of these from back in the early 2000’s. It has Gunner grips and is my favorite knife.

There was a drop earlier this month and they're all over Ebay rn. You can get one under 600. If you're willing to pay 420, $600 ain't gonna hurt you. I paid 530. It was well worth it. I never imagined myself actually CARRYING a strider, but that's exactly what I've been doing for the past two weeks.

Man, that was me when I scored a tiger strip smf for 525 bucks. A really nice dude hit me up on Insta, and now we're knife pals lol. I was so impressed I had to pick up another SMF from the most recent drop 👌

I just bought one the other day. I paid 680 for it. These are crazy expensive now. Arizona custom knives are selling these used for around 1000. They’re crazy expensive now and I think I over payed, but considering the market I probably didn’t do to bad. It’s a g-10 gunner grip, with the flamed tie lock side and the tiger stripe spear point blade. I’m pretty happy with it.

Good job Frank! I sold some of my knives to fund the SnG. Always wanted to see what were they all about or was it just hype. It's not hype. Sounds like you have the same one I do, but mine is Hybrid Tan G10 with GG. Would love to get a complete new "Just GG." If it happens - it happens. Now got the SMF and the SnG. Not too bad. :O) The SMF from Monkey Edge with the MEFP. Two great pieces and two fine investments.

Thanks for reviewing the SnG and putting it in perspective relative to other Strider knives. It is clear that you appreciate the brand. This is an incredible knife in terms of its usability, action, and look. I have become a Strider fan and now own 7 and use all of them.

The Shaman accomplishes for me the role that this would play. SNG is probably the most badass of the original trinity, but CRK is my choice among the 3.

Andrew Toole CRK is probably the most practical for edc with its hollow grind!

I’ve had my SnG DGG for about 5-6 years. I love the ergos. It’s held up. It’s a pocket shredder though and not my smoothest opening knife.

ThGs my favorite version with the nightmare grind

  • @fnc5369

I used to have several nice striders and years ago sold or traded them to eventually sell all my knives. I never made much profit back then. Now they are so rare and worth a lot more. I just bought a monkey edge 3V spear point green frag g10. I paid like a grand.
I have a full on Mick Strider custom SMF with nightmare grind, cracked ice flats, full ti handles with tree bark like texture his son helped him develop and on the knife. It’s a real one off especially considering his son went on to do his own thing.
For a user though the monkey edge 3V frag sng seems like a good one I just got it. But I do miss many features of my older striders.

Good knife I carry often. Overpriced and bulky in pocket but I do enjoy it.

Picked up the Protech SnG auto. Almost as nice as the original. Can buy three Protechs for the price of an SnG these days.

The opening hole also works as a wrench or oxygen bottles. I’m a volunteer firefighter and sometimes O2 wrenches go missing! One time a firefighter had to use the pliers on his leatherman to open it. Obviously that feature is not helpful to the majority of the public and I’ll probably never have to use it. However it’s still cool! I think thumb holes are my fav opening method for a work knife because it’s easy to operate with gloves. I absolutely LOVE my sng.

I would like to see a side by side comparison of the PT and the PT+. I have the protech SNG and the protech PT+. Does protech have the regular PT? Thanks, Paul.

So nobody seems to be asking, so I will. With the new screw placement over to the frame side and removal of the old expanding knurled nut, do the steel screws actually screw into the aluminum scale side? Seems like a detail that Strider would not overlook without some sort of hardened thread insert.

It looks like your hands, thumb and finger muscles have also gotten more jacked 3 years later. Pretty crazy but I can tell a difference. Lol.

Little late on this. Just watch this review + Shabazz's review (g10 version) and they're pretty polarizing. Nick mentioned sharp corners behind the blade jimping on the g10 and Ti, when closed part of the cutting edge occupied the lanyard hole which could potentially cut your lanyard and a couple other fit and finish fails like the loose (shakey) detent and the contours and cut-outs of the G10 scale not lining up with the backside Titanium scale. Do you recall if the Strider in your review had these issues? If not then hopefully the downsizing in production improved the fit and finish.
P.s. not really expecting a reply given you're on target for 50k subs (Gratz 😀) but hoping this Comment gives people reason to do more research before dropping $420.
    Stay sharp
    A

I mean I respect Nick. Att this point, I can honestly say we're friends. We just have different opinions on the positives and negatives of knives. I enjoyed the SNG. I guess he didn't. We're all different ya know? 😊👍

A measly 2 3/4" blade with a 8 1/4" OAL is the reason I really can't love the Strider. I'm a sucker for a good blade to handle ratio and the Striders are just so much knife with so little useable cutting edge.

Can’t be considered part of the big three anymore. It’s availability takes it out of the 3. It’s now more of a super grail bc of no true production unless Medford makes it

I'm sure you will disagree. But if this knife was $150. You would say its junk. That you could get a Chinese knife with the same materials and better fit and finish on bearings. For the same price. Lol

I don’t get what is the hype all about with expensive knives. Seems a knife can only be made so well. It’s not going to be a major difference like a Hi-Point to a HK.
