- Sorry that it's taken a long time to get this online - major and expensive computer problems.
There should have been two steam specials, both using the Cumbrian coastal route, today but a mishap somewhere along the Welsh border led to the cancellation of the train from Hereford.
As it was an ASLEF strike day there was little happening at the Citadel - the hours were long and wearisome as I was waiting for the 8.30 p.m. return from Dundee of the Northern Belle whose passengers had enjoyed a day at Glamis Castle.
Thank you for your dedication Tim. Another very enjoyable video of a day in the life of a railway station. 45690 was a long time favourite of mine, when as a Barrow Road loco we often saw it on the Lickey incline when it was a regular on the Bristol Leeds route. And always beautifully turned out by the Barrow Road staff.
That's good to hear Andrew. Too many sheds in the later years of the steam age neglected the appearance of their locomotives quite shamefully.
Thanks Tim for the dedication in bringing another interesting video to us. I would love to have been on the Glamis Castle excursion as I have" Young" ancestors that lived and probably worked on the estate, living in a stone cottage. The remains of which are still there, on Eassie Burn opposite Balgownie Mill, the latter was under renovation when I visited a decade or so ago.
Again thank you, cheers from Aus.
Would you believe that, after 43 years in Scotland, I've never been to Glamis Castle? One of these days perhaps.
Good to hear from you and best wishes from a very wet Scotland.
Another great update Tim - enjoyed the drone footage!
Thanks Charles - the aerial camera certainly adds new possibilities but is very wind and weather dependent. Best wishes.
Good to see your equipment is back working again. Enjoyed the drone shot of Leander leaving for the coast.
Thanks Les. Not everything is working, I'm afraid, and some of the software updates are causing problems. What fun!
Spot on Tim. Liked the aerial footage of Leander leaving the Citidel. Hope they can find an operator to keep her going. Glad i caught her at a very wet Grange-over Sands.👍👍
Thanks David - a very wet everywhere that day I think!
Great video Tim and great to see leander a beautifull loco, i do hope it not the last, cheers Steve .
Thanks Stephen - I share your hope but am not holding my breath.
A great day for seeing our heritage trains and meeting Les Ross was nice. He sounded friendly letting people look round his loco cab. Sure was a long day for you. Strikes are still lined up now talking about over Christmas and lots of fed up people at Sheffield yesterday evening with a lot of trains cancelled They announcement one EMR This train is delayed for an unknown reason We are trying to find the cause
I've met Les Ross on a number of occasions - he's a very friendly chap and always happy to show off his pride and joy!
Love the announcement!
@@schoolshorts LOL Crazy They sounded like they ran out of excuses for delays saying that.
Nice video Tim great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Thanks Philip.
Are west coast railways not interested in running leander can they not run her on a restore and run basis
Could it be a question of £££££££s?
@@schoolshorts I don't know I thought she would be needed with west coast railways
Leander’s owners have decided to retire it to a museum, unless they can find an operator to take it on.
They also said the loco is not for sale.
Real shame if we lose another icon of the preservation era.
Agree absolutely.
Tim - I have received an email/youtube comment regarding you that I think you need to be aware of - is there a safe way to send this email to you, cheers
Thanks PG - I am aware of it and I fear three or four others have received it.
I have removed it from the channel and blocked the sender. I can do no more.
Thank you for your concern.
Thanks for the update Tim. I had one too@@schoolshorts
