Walls, is the place, in waikiki. There's a rock at the bottom of the the ally where he gose in at. We use to hang on to it underwater, whenever the water was getting pulled back out into the ocean. Fun stuff. For all of you that want to know where the drain gose, if you take it all the way down you'll hit a man hole with a ladder that pops you up at the Honolulu zoo right across from walls.
The drain goes all the way to the zoo? How are you supposed to get back there? By holding your breath? And this is a storm drain, right? It's not all the hotels' sewage, is it? As far as I know the sewage all flows down into a main that runs along the ali wai and out into the sea before it finally opens up a few miles away, in the depths of the ocean.... But, please correct me if I'm wrong...
@@saintadolf5639 raw sewage hasn't been intentionally let loose in the ocean, for a very long time now. @@POLPO_WOOD are you trying to educate Keeping it Real? He knows Jaimie knows that and he’s doing it for the views. Keeping it Real is educating some of the viewers that might not know this!
The thing that is crazy to me is that this is an ocean storm drain as is visible by the fact that the entire structure is not a pier, but is a solid cement structure to control wake and there is no light coming the other side of that narrow structure so it's definitely walled off and even if no flushway/spillway, anything that enters into that nook could easily be thrashed into the walls etc and easily drown or be mangled. It definitely is not intended to be entered by humans and given that the force is actually the ocean as opposed to like a stream or small river etc I'd say there is no way humans could safely access no matter the protocol, they'd have to completely channel a close to the connection of the ocean or risk what I said above. He does seem to casually hand paddle in intentionally, but I imagine there are many notices and even barriers to discourage anyone from accessing the water at those sides, even the walls are designed to slow the force of the ocean at the shore I believe. I actually remember seeing something exactly like this on diagrams when researching about dams and water control for a school project about fixed crest dams and how much incredible effort and mathematics as well as science was involved by army corps of engineers to create our nation's navigable water ways but I remember something about these walls that resembles the militaries design to prevent vehicles from getting full direct speed to checkpoints and bases, because they have to slow down to maneuver around them or else slam into them ir flip so it gives the guards plenty of time to assess oncoming vehicles and appropriate time to get approval or even make decisions to stop them and how this is essentially the same purpose but with nature etc. It definitely was not good he went in there and hopefully he ok and even more hopefully I'm completely wrong about all this and something this easily accessible isn't as much of a danger as I seriously believe it is.
It’s not walled off. And nearest source of light from within is about 450’ away at the manhole near the zoo. Three small holes which would no be visible at that distance. Surfed the spot for years. Later as a police officer (HPD) we’d chase who ran into the water to escape. They would then head to the first manhole to escape. Later on we learned where to catch them as they emerged from the manhole
Also after the pipes were in stalled the Kapahulu groin was built over the pipes initially to help sand stay in place strengthened by the current structure which was a cool little walkway for people to enjoy the ocean without getting in. All the while we’d jump the top to avoid swimming against the waves to go surf
I love this police officer. He's just being real, reasonable and as fair as possible, and these people are interrogating and harrassing him. Unfortunately, it's people like this that make police officers unwilling to help, and vice versa, these people exist because they feel harrassed throughout life.
