It really does. I was just watching the anime until episode 7. I really wanted to know what happens and I didn't want to wait. Holy shit!! I was not prepared for the tone shift. All caught up in the manga though. Excited to see how they handle all of the other major moments.
This is the first time shit gets crazy. Really makes your heart skip a beat. Can't wait for next week though. I've been waiting for that scene to be animated since i read it.
I wasn't around to see it, but I'm guessing this is why Chainsaw Man became such a hit even before getting an anime. One, it doesn't care for the trappings of the genre, it'll do what it wants and you won't see it coming. And two, when it decides to step on the gas, it's not pedal to the metal, it's pedal THROUGH the metal.

So the kanji of Himeno's name means "princess" (姫 hime) and "field, wilderness, countryside" (野), i.e. "Field Princess", which explains/connects with a lot of the imagery featuring Himeno in this episode's ED, if anyone was curious. (and for people who are extra interested in the symbolic details of the series, her relationship with Aki also partially connects back to the symbolism of the "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse" storybook Aki's parents were reading to Aki's little brother in the flashback in episode 5) Also the new bad guy is called Katana Man by the fandom IIRC. As for Himeno’s age, the exact number has never been given but the general minimum range can be estimated based on information we know about other characters. Since the drinking and smoking age in Japan is 20, and Aki has been smoking long enough to be addicted and has known beat cops long enough to be going drinking with them regularly, Aki is likely at least 21 year old. And we know Himeno is at least 3-4 years older than Aki, so at minimum Himeno is in her mid 20s if not older.
In the manga it is more noticeable that himeno goes blind before the girl eliminates the ghost demon, so himeno never really knew what happened in the end

What i love about the Himeno "sex" scene is it acts as a red flag for Makima. If a woman expresses remorse for almost exploiting a minor while she was DEAD drunk, what does that say about Makima, the supposed more proffesional woman between the two who constantly seduces the said minor, fully sober, and promises him sex for doing her favors?
For real tho. Himeno is tortured and frustrated and makes a terrible decision while she's wasted and its clear she feels bad about it. Whereas makima is just stone cold grooming this child.

She gave up her life to the ghost devil for two reasons: 1 is the most obvious she don't want aki to die: 2 she was gonna die anyways and she knew because she was shot pretty close to her heart. So rather than die from the gun shot she use the ghost devil to try and save aki and everyone else.

The "moove-on" was just an adaptation of the joke. When she's saying "mou.. mou" expressing irratition towards both of them being after Makima, it sounds like a cow mooing. She then says "ushi" which is just "cow". RIP Himeno.
I had to consider powerscaling after this moment and thought of it like this. More people are afraid of snakes (something they can see) vs the idea of a ghost.

I've seen a lot of ppl talk about his age and how it's not appropriate for an adult to sleep with him. You guys didn't really focus on that too much. But everyone is forgetting that they are forcing him to fight life threatening devils and if he doesn't then they will kill him themselves. I think sleeping with an adult is nothing compared to that, if we are going to start talking about ethics.
Man... I thought the manga escalated quickly, but when you're animating it 2-4 mangas/episode, this story just explodes.... and will just keep exploding.... so hyped
I'd honestly like to hear from someone that just watches the anime and watched star wars episode 3 without knowing about the other future films, cause order 66 feels like the most appropiate explanation to how this felt, the difference is that in SW you know that the Jedi are no longer around if you watch the original trilogy, here there's no tease, no build up, it just... happens, it's a feeling of dread that is left of "what the actual fuck just happened??"

I dont think when they say that if you are crazy you won't die as easily they mean from sacrificing yourself. Pretty sure they mean you will do better in combat. She didn't die from combat. She sacrificed herself. It might apply to sacrificing yourself too but idt it forsure does. I can definitely see it being meant as purely a comment about how well you do in combat.
Honestly, loving all the anime only comments and reactions, I noticed some people getting turned off by all the sexual stuff and whatnot but this episode proved that csm is much more than that, really a good adaptation by MAPPA. The wild ride is only just beginning.
