actually not at all... these things are needed... notice the bullet proof vests int he back of it and the helmets. Thats because during active shooters and in riots where the diversity crowds are firing upon rescue units. In Olso the police have to escort fire and ambulance into the no go zones as they are fired upon. Its just part and parcel of living in a large city these days.

Just like the county’s incident command truck (We use a trailer in my county.) or the swat team’s armored personnel carrier (We use an old M113 APC here.) it is around for that once a year problem and will handle much lesser issues just fine. When it is that or a nearby department’s turn for a rescue during a North Hollywood style shootout, Riot, or just a hurricane that will be invaluable.
Maybe if it wasn’t policy for the fire dept to respond to every sprained ankle along with the ambulance they wouldn’t have to worry about being shot at so much.
