This was known as the Sewol Ferry Tradegy. On April 16, 2014, Southwestern coast of South Korea, 476 passengers onboard, about 323 of them being high-school students, were on a ferry to go to Jeju, South Korea, for a field trip and some just to get home. When they were in the water, one of the vehicles from below the ship somehow was detached from the boat, leading it to hit one of the sides of the boat, causing a hole in the boat. When this happened, students and teachers were ordered to go to their rooms and wait. Not knowing what was happening, students were ordered to stay calm. About an hour goes by and there was no sign of help. Students were calling their parents telling them what was going on even though they weren't completely sure what was going on. Because the parents were told that the students were being saved and that everything was alright, they told them to listen to the teachers and stay calm, later regretting that they ever said that. While this was happening, the crew members were trying to get the Coast Guards to come help them. The Coast Guard kept on declining to send help to them. By now, half of the boat was under water, and kids were in the hallways of the boat, almost being able to stand on the walls because of how much it had capsized. About an hour goes by and the kids were still in the boat. Another 45 minutes went by and everyone was still in the boat. By this time, everyone is getting scared. About 45 minutes before the ship sank, the Coast Guard finally agreed to send help to the children and get them out. The captain and some of the crew evacuated the boat first leaving everyone on it without telling them help was there. They had waited so long, the boat was on its side and was almost impossible to get out of. Kids tried to climb up the walls, but couldn't and were freaking out. They eventually were able to get a few students out with the help of others. But, tragically, the boat sank, leaving 304 students, teachers, and others in the boat. When it sank, all they could hear were kids screaming for their parents. Only 172 people were rescued from that boat that day, only 75 being students. Later on in the years, scuba divers went down to retrieve the bodies of them 304 that were left under. To this day, there are only 5 missing bodies left, 2 students, 1 teacher, and a father and his toddler. The Captain of the boat was charged with murder, but only sentenced to 35 years of prison. When people found this out, they were furious. The Korean Government tried their best to hide everything that happened that day, so, most of the parents don't even know what happened to their children which is absolutely heartbreaking. The fact that all of those people could've been saved and didn't is absolutely horrible. There are many interviews that you can find of the people who survived this tragedy and it's so heartbreaking.

I remember when I was 8 years old and I go to my aunt and uncle house where I meet my sister going to trip I really wanted to go with her but she said that only school students are allowed . And said me after she comes she will share her experience with me and said me bye see you soon. after we received the news and went to her house and prayed that she survived but unfortunately not she was only the child in their family 😢💔😔. It's 9 years now the incident was happened on 16-4-2014 and today its 16-4-2023 miss you sooooo much sis 😔😓😭😭😭💔 every year this day I cry 😢and her mom was on ICU for two years now she is well and they adopted a girl now 😢

I remember this, I live in the U.S. and it was on the news here too. I remember crying because I have children too. My heart broke and still is broken to this day for all of the families and individuals who lost their lives. My sincere condolences to all of you 🙏
Every time I see this, it really makes me upset, sad at the same time. I can’t Believe those kids are so humble and listen well. To be honest, kids could of been rescued if the rescuers did their job properly, correctly, and honestly. Rest In Peace Little Angels.

It's heartbreaking to realise that the students who are the same age as you , who have the same dreams as you just died bcoz of one single man's selfishness I guess they did escape the harsh reality of life So may their souls rest in peace and hopefully they are looking down from heaven hoping that others are doing well I hope that everyone reading this comment may reach the peaks of success in their career and life

It is so horrible and heartbreaking that most of the parents did not know what happened to their kids, I have no words to describe the amount of pain they had to suffer. When I listened to Spring Day for the first time, somèwhere I knew in my heart that it is conveying something that should not happen to anybody living in this world!!! 💔🥺
This still pisses me off that the captain and crew told the children to stay on board and then just jumped off to save themselves and left all those precious babies to die! Only the Captain of the ship got life the rest got off easy. No justice was done!

I remember when I was 8 years old and I go to my aunt and uncle house where I meet my sister going to trip I really wanted to go with her but she said that only school students are allowed . And said me after she comes she will share her experience with me and said me bye see you soon.
after we received the news and went to her house and prayed that she survived but unfortunately not she was only the child in their family 😢💔😔. It's 9 years now the incident was happened on 16-4-2014 and today its 16-4-2023 miss you sooooo much sis 😔😓😭😭😭💔 every year this day I cry 😢and her mom was on ICU for two years now she is well and they adopted a girl now 😢

This might be 1 of the worst tragedies I have ever heard of anywhere, esp iny life~time and on so many levels...BEYOND HEARTBREAKING... Those poor families, those frightened children...All of those broken dreams...This hurts me deeply from within. And THANKU to BTS for opening the eyes of people like me who had little knowledge of the intensity of this situation. Even the music throughout the recorded song sounds as though it too is crying. WE ALL, EVERYBODY, MYSELF INCLUDED NEED TO STOP TAKING THE GIFT OF LIFE FOR GRANTED AND CHERISH EACH AND EVERY MOMENT, FOR WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT MIGHT BE OUR LAST. 💜 My deepest, most heart~felt and sincere condolences to everyone who had to, and still enduring the absolute worst pain and may theor grief be consoled. I remember this, I live in the U.S. and it was on the news here too. I remember crying because I have children too. My heart broke and still is broken to this day for all of the families and individuals who lost their lives. My sincere condolences to all of you 🙏

I can’t Believe those kids are so humble and listen well.
To be honest, kids could of been rescued if the rescuers did their job properly, correctly, and honestly.

На момент приостановления поиска, ноябрь 2014 тела 9х ещё не было найдено. Страшная трагедия произошедшая по халатности людей. Соболезную всем родным.

This still pisses me off that the captain and crew told the children to stay on board and then just jumped off to save themselves and left all those precious babies to die! Only the Captain of the ship got life the rest got off easy. No justice was done!
