I wasnt a fan of him or Shinee, but his case get so deep into me that i cried everytime i see him in a song or remembering that he was so in suffer that lead to him to do such a thing. I want to hug him and tell him that everything is going to be ok :(.

SHINee is the first group to have done lots of things, they really paved the way to K-pop as we know it today. Sadly, they were also the first group that made us realize how much words hurt our idols, always be considerate 🤍 we never know when they'll be able to read a bad comment
He killed himself due to the pressures of being famous & then they filmed his funeral. I know they did it to help international fans find closure together within a fandom community who were all mutually mourning, but the irony of that is just glaring. Even in death he didn't have any privacy 😔

He had been telling his sister about being depressed, so when his sister didn't hear from him she called the police and had them do a wellness check on him. He was found unconscious in the home he was renting, then he was pronounced dead at the hospital 😔
I stan them since i was like 8 or 9 years old and he was my role model, my bias, my joy, he was that "everything" in my life. The worst thing is that i'll never meet him, i will never say to him that i love him and that im thankful. if you're sweating your eyeballs, i'm just cleaning them again
He hugged them so tight in his last concert, he knew what he was going to do, he knew what was gonna happen. I love him and miss him so much. Imagine how hard it must have been for him, he is sobbing in his last concert, looking at his fans and crying, hugging his other members. Gosh.

They with their music, have helped me so much in my difficult period, and they are still helping me in this period.I seriously don't know what would have happened to me if I didn't know them. This is why I say they’re so behind culturally. South Korea is not up to date with mental health, or health in general. These stars start so young and are trained for HOURS and starved to have a glimpse of hope of being famous which is why it’s so hard for me to support this because of how nothing has changed. Especially with mental health. If you expressed that there, you would be frowned upon. Being korean, I remember when I was outcasted out of my korean church for going to therapy because of my anxiety. In their eyes, mental health gives them a bad reputation or makes koreans look “bad” that’s why so many ppl don’t reach out for help and end up having a lot of mental issues. I think it’s the stress from the company and fans being so toxic. Like I saw some of the weights for these kpop singers and they’re really tall, but are extremely underweight and that’s why uou can see compilations of kpop singers passing out during a live. I mean the music industry is already yikes, but unless kpop changes, it’s hard for me to appreciate their work when they’re literally barely surviving to produce it.

queenlyin wtf? it doesn’t matter if its old or not, it still has meaning. let’s use music as an analogy. theres music from hundreds of years ago that people to this day still love and listen to. for example classical music. there are pieces from the late 1600’s to the early 1900’s that many, including me, still enjoy listening till this day. no matter how old something is, it will still have meaning.

It was so sad since he was the one who acknowledged abt depression to other artists, he helped them to give courage and words of encouragements, but he ended up couldn't help himself. Plus, his psychiatrist sucks too. (You can read the suicide letter, where Jonghyum wrote abt the psychiatrist). He said that the doctor never helped him, but always said that those depressions are "SOMETHING IN HIS HEAD". It is such a loss for the kpop world since Jonghyun was known to be such a talented, nice, heartwarming and a friendly person. He's also a creative lyricist. MALDITA travel & tours, I never knew SHINee that well, I only listened to Taemin and a bit after, not long before his death I grew to love Jonghyun. I was struck with so many mixed emotions when I heard he died that I just froze. I actually found out after a few months. I was so shaken I didn’t want to see anything about Jonghyun because that’d only make me feel worse. But I recently decided to finally look into his death-Jonghyun was getting too many death threats, I’m guessing because of this, he thought that he wasn’t good enough, and he couldn’t please his fans. He became depressed and stressed out. He then died because of hydrogen monoxide poisoning I think. And the police concluded it was suicide. Jonghyun couldn’t take the stress, it’s amazing he held out for so long before he passed away. Although it was awhile ago, everyone still reminisces on it, and for years to come they will.
It's been almost five years since we lost him. I first got into shinee when I was 11. I am 18 and graduating this year and I can't thank shinee/jonghyun enough for helping me be the person I am today. I am not mad at Jonghyun. I understand him and can't blame him for his decision, as someone who has gone through similar things and has tried multiple times to end it all. Jonghyun was going through so much at the time that even when his friends and family tried to help him, it was too late. I didn't particularly know all Shinee Members or their songs but Jonghyun's death struck me with a sadness that can't be explained. Its not longing like Shinee fans' have, not grief like his parents and friends have done, but my heart goes out for him and his loved ones for I have also once tried to take my life away. Even though I can't understand his own struggles, I truly hope he's in a better place now.❤️
SHINee was the first kpop I heard and fully loved, they helped me find my realm of happiness because thanks to them I found so many other talented groups. I thought it was just a huge joke when I heard he died, I was laughing but more of a mad laugh because in my head I was mad someone would dare fake news like that. But the more I looked that more I realized it was true. I cried so much that day and since I couldn't go to a location where they were having some sort of remembrance for him, I did one of my own at home. I drew him and I lit a small candle for him. In my head I still couldn't believe and even now, some part of me wishes it was fake. He will be forever remembered.
I remember when I found out about his death I was returning from school to home and my friend told me “did u hear that Shinee member died? It was announced now” and I didn’t want to believe her. I was like “hah that must be a joke,shut up” and when I got home thanks god I was home alone and I saw the news about his death and I cried so much. I was in really bad mood following days and even my father asked what was wrong with me... Few days later, Dokdo festival(kpop festival) was held where I live and I swear I’ve never seen so many sad people together. There was a memorial of Jonghyun and white balloons everywhere. When they talked about his death and lose of an amazing person during festival, everyone was crying in the hall. That was my first time losing a person who I respected and liked ( I was not big Shinee fan at that time, only new some songs and watched their funny moments). Thanks for reading this long comment. It’s been almost 4 years since we’ve lost this angel, I know he’s looking down on SHINee, standing on the stage and singing with them. I may of not stanned SHINee at the time, but I still broke down in 2017 when I heard the news. The kpop industry is full of happy and depressing memories, it hurts to know what your idols do through DAILY to make their families and fans happy. The battles they face along the way is insane. No one realises how much of a pain idols go through, your idol could feel like this but you could never know. Idols deserve the world, not just bashed, cancelled, hurt, mistreated and rumoured about. They deserve everyone’s love. Jonghyun was a solider who lost the battle through depression, but let’s not just think about his death, think about his talent, memories with SHINee and in the K-POP community. He was strong, handsome and a great main vocalist in SHINee. He stood proud on stages to hide all his emotions, to show he was ‘okay’ on the outside, on the inside he was broken. We haven’t lost a member of SHINee, one just gained his wings earlier. If you’re in the K-POP community to bash other idols, this could be them one day. Everyone crying around them, please think before doing stuff. Every idol has feeling, they may of made a mistake, we’re humans, Idols were not born to be a punching bag. The K-pop community has gotten more toxic by the days. People don’t realise that you’re breaking people’s idols into pieces. Even if they’ve did something mistreating, racist, homophobic etc. That isn’t a reason to tell them to die, they could be uneducated. You can hold them accountable, of course you can. But if you’re not the one getting offended by, then you have no involvement in that situation. A lot of whites speak over Blacks, Asians, Muslims ETC, but most of the time it’s not the whites getting hurt. Please remember that your idols have feelings. If you are going through thoughts of Suicide, cutting etc. Please call suicide hotlines, a therapist or anything to help you. I wasn't a Shinee stan, or even a k-pop stan, in 2017. To this day I still don't know much about the group, but when I heard about Jongyun's suicide it was a bit of a shock for me even though it happened years ago. It had never fully dawned on me the amount of pressure idols go through. They always have to do their best and show their best performance, even when they aren't feeling up to it. That level of stress and pressure is not something anyone should have to deal with on a daily basis. I see so many hate comments about idols, and my heart goes out to those idols who have to keep smiling knowing that people have awful opinions about them. No one deserves to be the target of so much negativity. There are so many cameras at the funeral. It's honestly so depressing.

I wasn’t a fan when he was living but I recently have become one. Every so often I think I cry looking back on him. He was such an amazing person. One of the angels that you never come across. It hurts to know that he fought his whole life I hope one day he knows how much of an inspiration he is to people. There was many reasons to think highly of him not just his artistic talent.

At that time, you find out that the person whom you loved just by his voice is no more now. It really hurts that time. Rest in peace legend. We love u.

The night of his death I dreamt him. He was in Heaven and he was working on a farm taking care of these horses. I was about to ask him why did he do it but then he looked so happy and said he wasn’t in pain anymore, so to not worry about him. Thinking about that scenario made me feel better so I’d like to believe he’s okay now 💞

My best friend died the same day as him and I can just feel the pain shinee fans feel. It fucking hurts so much having to bury your friend or member when you think you could have more time with him. Jonghyun did good. So did everyone else who died. They all did good in this game called life.
As a babywol what made me Stan 5HINee is the very fact that how they stood strong after passing of their brother ,Jonghyun was an amazing person & will always be --- At such times everyone keeps eye on your every action ,they expect you to publicize your feelings & it's very natural for group to get downfall .... But how SHINee chose music as their source to express themselves is just what makes them legendary.. I saw malicious comments about their First concert without Jonghyun but to me it was the best thing cuz it gave them a chance to grieve, remember & heal together with the people who love them ,their fans .... It gives a sense of assurance when you see them doing great & making SHINee shine .. Indeed ,the void left by Jonghyun can never be filled but it don't need to be filled bcuz As long as 4 of them are together they'll always be 5 .. I hope we can support these precious people.

He killed himself due to the pressures of being famous & then they filmed his funeral. I know they did it to help international fans find closure together within a fandom community who were all mutually mourning, but the irony of that is just glaring. Even in death he didn't have any privacy 😔

He had been telling his sister about being depressed, so when his sister didn't hear from him she called the police and had them do a wellness check on him. Why are so many KPOP stars committing suicide there needs to be an investigation on how they treat and manage their stars cause this is getting ridiculous
South Korea also needs to get better with mental health in general. It's not just the idols, and it needs to be normalized over there to talk about.
This is why I say they’re so behind culturally. South Korea is not up to date with mental health, or health in general. These stars start so young and are trained for HOURS and starved to have a glimpse of hope of being famous which is why it’s so hard for me to support this because of how nothing has changed. Especially with mental health. If you expressed that there, you would be frowned upon. Being korean, I remember when I was outcasted out of my korean church for going to therapy because of my anxiety. In their eyes, mental health gives them a bad reputation or makes koreans look “bad” that’s why so many ppl don’t reach out for help and end up having a lot of mental issues. I think it’s the stress from the company and fans being so toxic. Like I saw some of the weights for these kpop singers and they’re really tall, but are extremely underweight and that’s why uou can see compilations of kpop singers passing out during a live. I mean the music industry is already yikes, but unless kpop changes, it’s hard for me to appreciate their work when they’re literally barely surviving to produce it.

Plus, his psychiatrist sucks too. (You can read the suicide letter, where Jonghyum wrote abt the psychiatrist). He said that the doctor never helped him, but always said that those depressions are "SOMETHING IN HIS HEAD".
It is such a loss for the kpop world since Jonghyun was known to be such a talented, nice, heartwarming and a friendly person. He's also a creative lyricist. He also wrote a lot of songs to other artists. You can search for it on youtube
MALDITA travel & tours, I never knew SHINee that well, I only listened to Taemin and a bit after, not long before his death I grew to love Jonghyun. I was struck with so many mixed emotions when I heard he died that I just froze. I actually found out after a few months. I was so shaken I didn’t want to see anything about Jonghyun because that’d only make me feel worse. But I recently decided to finally look into his death-Jonghyun was getting too many death threats, I’m guessing because of this, he thought that he wasn’t good enough, and he couldn’t please his fans. He became depressed and stressed out. He then died because of hydrogen monoxide poisoning I think. And the police concluded it was suicide. Jonghyun couldn’t take the stress, it’s amazing he held out for so long before he passed away. Although it was awhile ago, everyone still reminisces on it, and for years to come they will.

It's been almost five years since we lost him. I first got into shinee when I was 11. I am 18 and graduating this year and I can't thank shinee/jonghyun enough for helping me be the person I am today. I am not mad at Jonghyun. I understand him and can't blame him for his decision, as someone who has gone through similar things and has tried multiple times to end it all. Jonghyun was going through so much at the time that even when his friends and family tried to help him, it was too late. If someone you know or love is showing signs of suicidal thoughts or self harm, please get help or try and help them before it's too late. Rip jonghyun, you will forever be in our hearts

I didn't particularly know all Shinee Members or their songs but Jonghyun's death struck me with a sadness that can't be explained. Its not longing like Shinee fans' have, not grief like his parents and friends have done, but my heart goes out for him and his loved ones for I have also once tried to take my life away. Even though I can't understand his own struggles, I truly hope he's in a better place now.❤️
SHINee was the first kpop I heard and fully loved, they helped me find my realm of happiness because thanks to them I found so many other talented groups. I thought it was just a huge joke when I heard he died, I was laughing but more of a mad laugh because in my head I was mad someone would dare fake news like that. But the more I looked that more I realized it was true. I cried so much that day and since I couldn't go to a location where they were having some sort of remembrance for him, I did one of my own at home. I drew him and I lit a small candle for him. In my head I still couldn't believe and even now, some part of me wishes it was fake. He will be forever remembered.

I remember when I found out about his death I was returning from school to home and my friend told me “did u hear that Shinee member died? It was announced now” and I didn’t want to believe her. I was like “hah that must be a joke,shut up” and when I got home thanks god I was home alone and I saw the news about his death and I cried so much. I was in really bad mood following days and even my father asked what was wrong with me... Few days later, Dokdo festival(kpop festival) was held where I live and I swear I’ve never seen so many sad people together. There was a memorial of Jonghyun and white balloons everywhere. When they talked about his death and lose of an amazing person during festival, everyone was crying in the hall. That was my first time losing a person who I respected and liked ( I was not big Shinee fan at that time, only new some songs and watched their funny moments). Thanks for reading this long comment. It’s been almost 4 years since we’ve lost this angel, I know he’s looking down on SHINee, standing on the stage and singing with them. I may of not stanned SHINee at the time, but I still broke down in 2017 when I heard the news. The kpop industry is full of happy and depressing memories, it hurts to know what your idols do through DAILY to make their families and fans happy. The battles they face along the way is insane. No one realises how much of a pain idols go through, your idol could feel like this but you could never know. Idols deserve the world, not just bashed, cancelled, hurt, mistreated and rumoured about. They deserve everyone’s love.
Jonghyun was a solider who lost the battle through depression, but let’s not just think about his death, think about his talent, memories with SHINee and in the K-POP community. He was strong, handsome and a great main vocalist in SHINee. He stood proud on stages to hide all his emotions, to show he was ‘okay’ on the outside, on the inside he was broken. We haven’t lost a member of SHINee, one just gained his wings earlier.
If you’re in the K-POP community to bash other idols, this could be them one day. Everyone crying around them, please think before doing stuff. Every idol has feeling, they may of made a mistake, we’re humans, Idols were not born to be a punching bag. The K-pop community has gotten more toxic by the days. People don’t realise that you’re breaking people’s idols into pieces. Even if they’ve did something mistreating, racist, homophobic etc. That isn’t a reason to tell them to die, they could be uneducated. You can hold them accountable, of course you can. But if you’re not the one getting offended by, then you have no involvement in that situation. A lot of whites speak over Blacks, Asians, Muslims ETC, but most of the time it’s not the whites getting hurt.
Please remember that your idols have feelings.
If you are going through thoughts of Suicide, cutting etc. Please call suicide hotlines, a therapist or anything to help you.
You deserve the world, you’re a special, unique human being to deserves to have a normal life, not to be bashed by depression until your breaking points. I was there once also.

1. You are special, unique and amazing.
2. There is always a pot ‘o’ gold at the end of every fall.
3. People love you, how would you like to see your best friend standing there, looking down at your casket, wondering what they could’ve did to stop this?
4. People care about you.
5. You may not feel it, but you can make it out.
6. You’ve only just starting living your live, stuff will tear you down, but you can climb out.
7. There so many reasons to live, throwing your life away for some downfalls isn’t smart.

You'll might be aware of Sulli. I never staned her , actually i never knew her. Recently i watched her last insta live that was uploaded on youtube . I broke down. I didn't knew her. The video came in my recommendations , i watched it and literally disturbed me like hell. It felt that she was happy that she is gonna die rather than living in this cruel world filled of selfish and narrow minded people.
Depression is like slow poison. It kills u every minute every second. Please even if u hate someone or u don't stan someone atleast don't disrespect that person. Atleast show some humanity. Being kind will not cost u. He was a son, friend, love, idol for someone and so are everyone. Don't hurt someone. It will never make u a "cool" person.

I wasn't a Shinee stan, or even a k-pop stan, in 2017. To this day I still don't know much about the group, but when I heard about Jongyun's suicide it was a bit of a shock for me even though it happened years ago. It had never fully dawned on me the amount of pressure idols go through. They always have to do their best and show their best performance, even when they aren't feeling up to it. That level of stress and pressure is not something anyone should have to deal with on a daily basis.
I see so many hate comments about idols, and my heart goes out to those idols who have to keep smiling knowing that people have awful opinions about them. No one deserves to be the target of so much negativity.
There are so many cameras at the funeral. It's honestly so depressing.
I wish people can stop saying "Everyone only cares when your dead." There are many people who loved jonghyun!

I was about to ask him why did he do it but then he looked so happy and said he wasn’t in pain anymore, so to not worry about him. My best friend died the same day as him and I can just feel the pain shinee fans feel. It fucking hurts so much having to bury your friend or member when you think you could have more time with him. Jonghyun did good. So did everyone else who died. They all did good in this game called life.

As a babywol what made me Stan 5HINee is the very fact that how they stood strong after passing of their brother ,Jonghyun was an amazing person & will always be --- At such times everyone keeps eye on your every action ,they expect you to publicize your feelings & it's very natural for group to get downfall ....
But how SHINee chose music as their source to express themselves is just what makes them legendary..
I saw malicious comments about their First concert without Jonghyun but to me it was the best thing cuz it gave them a chance to grieve, remember & heal together with the people who love them ,their fans ....
It gives a sense of assurance when you see them doing great & making SHINee shine .. Indeed ,the void left by Jonghyun can never be filled but it don't need to be filled bcuz As long as 4 of them are together they'll always be 5 ..
I hope we can support these precious people.

I'm not really a fan, in fact I know actually nothing about them. But I do know when I heard about his death I dropped to the floor and started crying. I know how you guys must feel because if I heard my favorite band member died I would probably die as well. This just stung my heart and he will be remembered ❤😭
