It's curious, I'm peruvian and I didn't know there was another way to go to the rainbow mountain. I visited Vinicunca about 6 years ago and it was beautiful. Now thanks to you guys, I will visite this new road. Grettings from Lima.
Yes we didn't know either until not too long before we arrived in Cusco. Very cool to know that it's not just one area that has the rainbow mountains, but a large mountain range! There is just so much to explore in your country 🤗
This video was very helpful. I head to Peru and Colombia in 4 weeks. I am watching all of your videos. How is your Spanish? Were you able to get by with communication with folks you encountered? Thank you again for sharing your adventures!
Such a neat little video you guys, SUBBED! Cant wait to see you two hit 25k. We are visiting Peru in two days, so stoked! By your Patagonia puffers, it was pretty chilly huh despite it being sunny?
Thanks guys! Yes, it was very chilly despite the sun. When we were walking around we got a bit warmer, but it is quite a chilly day. The morning was freeeeeezing! We visited in July though so if you go soon I imagine it will be a bit warmer. Have an awesome time in Peru!
@@nicoleandmico Good stuff! Also we saw your drones shots, want to bring ours, are their any restrictions or anything we should know prior to bringing it in?
Thanks! Yes, we would definitely choose Palccoyo again over Vinicunca. We loved how there were so few people at Palccoyo. We spoke to lots of people in Cusco and saw many vlogs online that showed just how busy Vinicunca was, and it just really didn't appeal to us! We really enjoyed sharing this other area of the rainbow mountains with just a dozen or two other people who were spread over a large area. Ir made the day feel relaxing for us so we would definitely choose Palccoyo again if we were to do it over :)
Amazing experience and love the videos. We took a look at the Peruvian Paths and Adventures site but don't see a Polccoyo option - is it something you coordinated in person in Cusco?
Glad you enjoyed! 🤗 Yes we already had contact with them so they arranged the tour for us specifically. I recommend just messaging them through their Whatsapp number and letting know what day you want to go. It was very easy and we booked it just a day prior 😊
@@nicoleandmico thanks!! That was going to be my next question - can we book a few days or do we need to book weeks in advance. Enjoy you travels and be safe!
There are honestly so many tours and tour operators running daily so we had no problems booking it (48 hours in advance should be really safe). Just note that if you're looking for the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains then be sure to let them know. The Vinicunca Rainbow Mountains are still the most popular option (because it's the older of the two) so they may very well assume that's where you want to go. For us, we really enjoyed Palccoyo for its relaxed feel, quiet area and easy hiking. We hope you have a fun and safe trip! 😊
Some killer footage! Appreciate the info on the Mini 2 ...wasn't sure if there would be enough lift at that altitude. Did you have any issues, wind or otherwise with the drone?
Thanks so much! The only concern we had with the drone there was maintaining signal because of the mountains! We saw a few quick drops in signal just because of the terrain, but all was good! When you arrive to Palccoyo you will have to pay a fee to fly the drone (about $10 CAD) because Palccoyo is private property. And one final heads up, we paid the fee to fly the drone and we had a great first flight, but we brought the drone back to swap the battery and the woman who was monitoring us said we had to pay the drone fee again if we wanted to fly it again! We don't know if that is normal or if we just got unlucky because it seemed a bit strange. Our drone is tiny so the batteries don't last very long, so it was disappointing to only have one flight. Our suggestion to you is to milk your first battery in case they ask you for a second payment as well!
Thanks! We have the DJI Mini 2 which is just under the weight limit for having to register the drone in Peru. If you are in the same boat and have a drone under 250g, then you can bring it to lots of spots in Peru, however Cusco did require us to submit a request through the DJI app to get permission to fly. We always got approved right away through the app which was great. Technically, you need to be mindful of flying over large groups of people and such, but in our experience, everyone was pretty relaxed about the use of drones in Cusco city. At the rainbow mountains we had to pay an additional fee to be able to fly the drone (I think about $10 CAD) over the mountains. Have a wonderful time in Peru!
We were there in June/July and had a great time. It was a little chilly at times so we recommend going during their summer season (NOv-March). The weather will be a bit warmer I'm sure 🙂
No, you cannot fly a drone at Machu Picchu. They don't check bags, but there are so many guards on the site that there would be no way to fly a drone without being noticed.
you have used this tour agency multiple times. did t hey give you discount for multiple bookings or you were just so happy with their service? pricing you mentioned in the chip is much lower than what they charge online. did you go years ago before COVID and inflation?
We just really enjoyed there service! And we took this trip in Aug of 2022. We coordinated everything via phone/text after we arrived in the country so maybe it was a little cheaper because it was a direct booking?
Can i hire a horse to hike this rainbow mountain? I have knee injury... My flight to Lima is September 20 @10pm. Do you know any buses leaving Lima to Cusco at night? I hope to sleep in the bus and be energetic when I arrive in Cusco. I'm having trouble buying machu pitchu ticket from the Peru official website, tickets are sold for 3 days. Could it be that the local tour operators bought all the tickets for sale with commission? If so, have you seen travel agency selling machu pitchu ticket? Is it easy to buy bug spray from the local pharmacy or supplement? I'm flying budget airlines so cannot bring more than carry-on which already costing extras The website indicates routes/ circuit for tickets, which circuit is the easiest since I have old knee injuries. Any tips will be great, thanks If you think 4am tour pickup is early.... i think the world craziest tour pick up hours has to be hiking mont Sinai Egypt 😅 tour van hotel pickup at 8 pm and start hiking st midnight to watch sunrise. The elevation is higher than machu pitchu. I hired a 🐪 to get up😅
Amazing video again loving it thanks keep trekking 👌👍
Ooo I’m so happy to hear there’s a less crowded option for this beautiful view. It really looks like you are doing South America right! I love it!!
We were so glad to find this less crowded option!
Glad I subscribed to you cuz I like the style of your videos and it's easy to like you because of your personalities
Haha that's awesome, thanks so much for subbing and joining our adventures!

Wow look at that need for speed! 😄 Glad you made the van in the end and stay safe! Looking forward to your next adventure
We're glad we eventually made it too! Thanks for checking out the video 😀

Amazing b-roll shots! Knowing what you know now and having expereinced Polccoyo, if you had to do it again would you still pick that over Vinicunca?

Thanks for the very helpful video! 🙂 Which month did you go?
This was in July 😊 thanks for watching!
Same thing happened to me when I was going to Machu Picchu. My tour guide slept in so we had to chase the train to the 1st stop
Oh no! I can't imagine how scary that would have been. Missing your Machu Picchu visit would have been terrible!

@@nicoleandmico thank you ❤
You can fly your drone here without permission??
Hey there! No, we needed to pay an additional fee (about $15 CAD) to fly the drone because it is private property.
@@nicoleandmico good to know. One last question are you allow to fly your drone in Machu picchu? Do they check your bags?
No, you cannot fly a drone at Machu Picchu. They don't check bags, but there are so many guards on the site that there would be no way to fly a drone without being noticed.
It's cool, but idk if it's worth waking up at 3am and spending the whole day doing this and paying 50+USD
