The beauty of this drone is takes 5 minutes to change out the gears to new one's. I have the same I get about 200m from mine after the mods to the drone antenna. The drone antenna I find is the problem with it. When the drone is up high the signal has to go through the plastic and also the flight board. So I removed that tiny antenna and installed a wifi cable from a antenna ran the wire through the landing gear hole where one of the screws went down the leg and a tiny pin hole through the bottom of the landing gear and hang there. Don't snip off the connector at the end. Works way better no signal loss and also get 200m plus from it. Just an idea. great video as well.
Just a hint on the fat batteries When you use the battery and its still warmish put a weight on top of it to force the gel back into the battery.Dont put a ton of weight just alittle. Say about a pound weight. It will keep the battery from messing up.
Had mine quite a while, i had to replace one of the motors after 21 flights but it's a great Quadcopter to fly & cheap, might try some different props to see what happens : )
Just curious if this beast is still going after a year? I just got an X5C (it's like my 7th or 8th quad) and it flies so stable. I love it so far (I also have the Syma X11 and X51). I wish I'd started with an X5C. I started with a Holy Stone F181 and I crashed it so many times it's currently out of commission. I need to solder the battery connector back to the board.

yea its still going. I had to replace a few motors and batteries but that's it.
Can this drone fly without camera?
Good real life experience! How long do the AA batteries last with the transmitter? Do you use Alkaline or NIMH? Thx!
ive used the rechargable nimh batteries.
bam6972 - i guess that 4x1.25v(5v) nimh works fine... i will try it
