For all of us with Anxiety, we can identify with this song. The 'shadow selves' walking behind them starts out going forward and they reverse and start going backwards. This is superbly shot and their emotion in their faces and voices just show how we feel when we are in an anxiety attack. 10 seconds in when Matt hits us with his first low note I got chills, and when Mitch said 'See right through me', I choke on a sob. I have seen this video over 25 times now and it still affects me
I totally agree. My darling daughter lives this shadow life . She is an Angel but only a few know her well enough to recognize they are in the presence of someone who is truly very special
Thanks for doing this one. Dark. Emotional. But beautiful none the less. That wall of Sound they build is always amazing. We all need more Matt & Mitch duets!!
Exactly (and Jesus, some ear buds of Quality, please) and he should put a High Pass Filter on his recording to kill the annoying background noises - sorry, but I as a sound engineer cannot take this serious. Furthermore I expect from a vocal coach by far more reaction and explanations than "well, that was dope, man". Sorry.
One of the comments they got during the sing off was that Avi (the old Bass before 2017) did stuff with his voice that will I am needed equipment to do. They were talking about the same thing you're talking about with Matt. It's not just that these people are good singers, they are great together and they are masters at their craft. PTX refused to cover bohemian Rhapsody for a long time because they didn't think they could do it well enough. If you haven't checked that out you really should.
Hi 👋🏻 from Canada 🇨🇦 They are incredible - their harmonies reach deep into you and touch your soul. If you haven’t seen their cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” you should - speaking of higher meanings 😊
They've only had one personnel change in their now almost-11 year history. Original bass singer Avi Kaplan left in 2017 and new bass singer Matt Sallee joined in early 2018. I don't call him a replacement, just a new member, because the group actually changed their dynamic more to match him than making him change his style to match them.
They have a brand new song or album coming out on Oct 16. No one is quite sure which. They have been teasing on their social media sites the past few days about it.
Thanks for reacting to Mad World. Please react to their latest original song, "Happy Now". You may try pausing videos and making comments several times and rewinding slightly after the pausing to see if it will keep your videos from being blocked. You may also want to post the Fair Use disclaimer on your videos.
"Mad World" is a song originally done by the British pop group Tears for Fears. Pentatonix dusted it off and put their own wonderful spin on it. And yes, the song is very appropriate for today - unfortunately. Thanks for the reaction! Also, you might want to react to some older songs and artists like Harry Chapin ("Taxi"), Jim Croce ("Time in a Bottle"), Cat Stevens ("Father and Son"), and Gordon Lightfoot "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"). These are artists who specialized in storytelling with their lyrics. They put out some pretty amazing stuff back in the day!
Actually. This cover is of the GARY JULES version that was released in 2001. Jules recorded it for the movie “Donnie Darko”. The Tears for Fears version reached #3 on the UK charts. The Gary Jules version reached #1 all around the world. His arrangement was slower, darker and sadder. PTX covered that recording, which is what most people know!
Hey Mike, another great reaction - keep throwing in PTX /Home Free and your channel will take off :) Would you react to Mary did you know? I think with your background yo will love it. The harmonies and the signature 'wall of sound' PTX do so well will knock your socks off! Stay well my friend, richest blessings x
@@SpydaMikeHD usually you have to pause the video a few times and possibly add a filter over their video. It will usually get copyright claimed (cause it’s their video) but if they initially block it you can dispute it, it’s their record label/the video producers that block.

To think, this song was written in the 80's...but applies even more now than ever.
I've watched many of their videos and it, still, amazes me that there are no instruments involved, besides their voices and bodies of course.
You have to wear headphones or at least two ear buds to really get the true stereo sound you will hear it music like you've never heard before.
