    My mom taught me to embroider, to sew, to clean and decorate my home. I sewed all of my family's clothes, maternity wear, baby clothes, western wear, and curtains. I love to sew. I made my own doll clothes when I was little and my mom made my Thumbalina doll clothes and I still have them. I really enjoyed your show. Thank you!!

    I learned on my grandmother’s treadle machine when I was 7 or 8. I started sewing by hand and kept bothering my mother to sew using the machine and she finally said yes, I was in my glory and have sewn ever since. I’m 72 now and have sewn for my daughters and grans…..I have been blessed with a husband who has given me new machines when my others died…..I am truly blessed 😊. And I too love the diorama and fell in love making one for school and I love miniatures

    Love all these little projects. I too learned to sew when in kindergarten. My mom said two things- “keep your fingers away from the needle and don’t touch the tension knob, otherwise you can’t hurt anything”. I have now bought my granddaughter her first beginner sewing machine and she loves sewing. We have so much fun together. Thanks for lovely projects and sweet memories. PS- the green around the dress form is just right. No other green needed.

    Myra, I absolutely LOVE this video. My favourite will have to be the two dressforms. What a great idea to put transfers on it! I have a small collection of thrifted jewelry stands/dressforms, that I upcycled. I removed the rod where one is supposed to hang the jewellery, and put little finals (I made myself a mould from one that I sawed off the rod) on the holes where the rod came out. I'm definitely going to use transfers on the one that's waiting to be finished.

My daughter is 42 and when she was a little girl I made beautiful Sundat Church dresses for her and Halloween costumes and my 2 boys I sewed mostly bathrobes and summer clothes. I love the tin because it's all the things I love too. I do enjoy crocheting too. I'm into so many crafts I sometimes don't know what to choose each day but it has to be something or I can't get through the day. Well thank you for all the inspiration I recieved from your diys. My aunt was a 4-H leader and had a terrible time trying to teach me how to sew because I was left handed. She would make me sit across from her so I could see how she put things together. It didn’t work. I would rush through my projects or get frustrated. After many tries things finally clicked. I enjoy sewing now and spent last January making bunnies…over 100 of them. 🐰🐰My sister (who is a better seamstress than me) loved them and used them for her Easter egg hunt. OH MY GOSH MYRA!!! You’re right these are all so stinking cute!! It’s hard to pick a favourite, but k guess I’d also say the tin, but really I love it all. I also love The dress form with the teeny tiny moulds all over it. They are so delicate. What a great idea to use caulk for them. I can’t imagine anything else would work with this teeny moulds. I’m 62, and I used to make all my clothes when I worked at the bank when I was younger. We had to wear dresses or suits with skirts with nylons, and I don’t like nylons, so I would make pantsuits. They were acceptable. I didn’t have anywhere to buy them, and back then it was a lot less expensive to make your clothes than it was to buy them. I don’t have kids or grandkids, but I would have loved to have, and to have made their clothes. Tracey 🇨🇦

    • @farmfreshdesigns59
      @farmfreshdesigns59  2 дня назад

      Thanks so much Tracey for sharing that with me. Fabric and patterns are more costly than they were when we were younger. I always hated nylons and wear them rarely now. Usually, I wear them at funerals and that is all I want to wear them. My daughter at 9yrs old decided she did not want the frilly dresses but was ok with me making clothes she wanted. And my son, well that kid was always wanting some sort of costume for his history classes. I made all sorts of crazy costumes. I made one of a British soldier once. And of course, I had to embarrass him by making pics of him. He went on to sewing when he started creating furniture cushions. It was hilarious to see him hunched over my sewing machine. And who do they always go to when they need clothing repairs, yes mom. Hope you have a great week.

    Myra, these are all so pretty! I love the dress forms! I've seen the tabletop one in your crafting area and it's so pretty I had to have one so I found one at Walmart that was being sold as a small pet clothes hanger.😆It has some kind of cloth over the body and I'm wondering if I could do an IOD transfer onto that fabric (looks like maybe a soft jersey)?? Your pink one today looks like it has lace applique on a dress, so very pretty! No one would ever know it's caulking! My mother sewed all her clothes growing up and us, her daughters' too. I took to drawing, crochet and crafts. Thanks for a lovely video, blessings~Wendy🥰 🙏

      @farmfreshdesigns59  День назад +1

      That is a great idea about the pet clothes hanger! I am not sure about jersey. You could try a small transfer somewhere maybe on the back and see how it works before you use a bigger transfer. The larger form I used the transfer on had a fabric cover and I just cut it off (but it was dirty since I thrifted it). Crochet is something I have always wanted to do but just can't get the hang of it. Have a great week.

      @farmfreshdesigns59 Thank you for the idea of testing it first. Probably do the same thing with decoupage testing? But not sure if you could decoupage onto fabric like jersey? I had someone who crocheted teach me with a lot of practice. But it was taking a couple of beginner classes at JoAnns and the local yarn shops that did the trick. I'm sure you could pick it up that way! I hope you do bc it's fun. However I identified with you when you talked about wanting to get to other projects for so long! I have way too many craft projects lined up!🥰

      Yes, I have decoupaged on fabric before. It cannot be washed later but definitely something you can try. I have taken 2 classes and even had one of my students "try" to teach me. haha. My problem is turning and going the opposite way. I get confused and have to count. My ADHD kicks in and I forget to count stitches. :))). I really wish I could master it so maybe one day.......

      @@farmfreshdesigns59 Yes, counting stitches can be a pain for anyone. I used to use stitch markers to help me. I hope you do get to learn it someday! Thanks for the tip on decoupaging fabric. I also want to recover a lamp shade with fabric. Maybe some time, since you sew so well, you could show how to make a paper pattern for cutting the fabric? I have no sewing skills and didn't understand what some said about cutting a semicircle "on the bias." Thank you again for your great videos and kind help!💕

      Thanks so much for subbing. I just subscribed to your channel, as well. I love all the miniatures you make. I want to spend more time watching your videos. My husband build a doll house years ago for my office. I was a school counselor and used it for play therapy sometimes. Even the male students loved it. Since I retired and brought it home, my granddaughters love to play with it. Hope your week is amazing.

    I grew up sewing and learned on a Singer paddle powered,😅. I love everything you made. Oh my gosh, it feels like forever since I’ve watched your videos. Warmer weather? Stay safe during our first “ winter weather “ coming up. I’m like “ I’m just gonna wait and see” mode. I hate ice storms and the last future cast map I saw indicated a very bad ice storm! I hope and pray not. The grocery store shelves will be emptied of the bread n milk😂😂😂. Hugs. Oh by the way, I hate to sew now. My oldest daughter and I were talking about that yesterday. She’s sewing and I’m not😅. 😊❤

      I hear ya about the weather, I’m not a fan of ice storms either! We are already planning to hunker down and stay warm. We lose power a lot out in the country so we bought a generator Saturday. I cannot lose all the things I put up in our freezer this summer. My daughter never wanted to sew and that poor girl does not craft either. Thankfully, my granddaughters want to do it all. They especially making air dry clay moulds. I hope you have a safe and warm week. Love you friend.

      @ I’m so glad you guys bought a generator. My youngest doesn’t have any kind of an artistic side. None.

      @ it was fun and easy. I know if you have great computer skill you can load the pics and remove background and make foreground black, but that’s a lot for many folk, so I think paint on photo is much easier.
