I wanted light weight and power, but not a sport bike. I test rode quite a few bikes and some how found myself at the Harley dealer. I would never have thought I'd take the Nightster home. But its light, handles better than any cruiser I rode and has enormous power. Over priced, but what a ride.
Honestly…I want the iron. I had one for over a year and it was such a fun bike to ride and especially to mod out. You can’t beat the sound of that Evo either. I own a Low Rider S now and it doesn’t have nearly as many aftermarket goodies for it as the iron, and they cost a lot more for the Low Rider S than the iron too. Only problem with the iron now is the price! Harley gone crazy with these prices.
I own a 22 low rider st and just picked up the nighster for the wife. She always been a sporster fan and does not want a softail. She chose the nighster due the safety package(abs, traction control, led lighting, lighter, and handling). The bike flys, its faster then my 117 in my low rider st! It’s different for a Harley since it doesn’t really to come to life until 5000rpm but then it pulls until 9500rpm! The brakes, clutch, shifter is so amazing, its perfect bike for a smaller person or even beginner! Yes, it’s expensive but also it rides amazing and has the Harley Quality. Some of the wiring and cables are routed a little wierd and the exhaust is ugly as hell. Besides that, I can recommend the nighster to any sportser fan who is willing to get over the watercooled part. Its a beast and with the sporster s , these 2 bikes are fastest models Harley has to offer in their ice lineup.

To my eyes, the Nightster looks a lot like the first-generation Kawasaki 750 Vulcan.
To my ears, it sounds like a Kawasaki 900 Z1 with the ever-present whine from its straight-cut primary drive gear.
Specs wise, the Nightster holds all of the high cards. 90+ horsepower versus 58 for the 1200 will give you a better cushion when you're on the wrong side of a broken yellow line and the putz in the cage you're passing decides to race you. Just drop a gear or two, and it's adios, muchachos! Think of it as the entry level Binford 975.
The Nightster has a suite of modern rider aids as well. Three ride modes, ABS, and traction control. You're really getting a lot of stuff for your bucks here.
Progressive Suspension will fix those issues. A Sundowner seat, highway pegs, and a windshield from the P&A catalog will have you riding longer and longer in comfort.
I just test road both 883 first then the nightster. I’m buying the nightster. I road plenty of 883 before they are fun to ride but the nightster feels so smooth and fast.
I love my nightster. Gas under the seat makes it feel so light. Slight forward leaning position is bad ass. Fast as hell!! Acceleration- be careful not to do a wheely lol.
I ride in either rain mode or sports mode.
If you're someone who trades your bike every couple of years get the Nightster. If you want a bike you can keep for the long-haul get the Evo Sportster.
It is a nice Singapore Harley. Sheng Davidson and Vu Harley have come a long way since their Sheng Vu Rickshaw Highrider XL.

Good video, I liked hearing what someone else has to say about the differences of the two bikes. I couldn't decide so I got one of each. Modding out the 883 and enjoying the tech and performance of the Nightster.
After some time, which one has the most miles on it?

@@misme2000 I've been riding the Nightster mostly because I'm breaking it in. I really like riding the 883 though. The 883 has more character and feel. The Nightster is way faster and handles like a dream. Just depends where I'm going I guess.

I'm looking to get the 883 for my first bike! I tap in at 280lbs-no light weight here, I stand at 5'9" tall. I'll take the 883 without question! Upgrade the bike with engine guards, better shocks, seat, riser handle bars and a 4.5 gallon fuel tank. Motor and pipes stay stock. Also a windshield. Outside of that there's really nothing to do with the bike to make me happy! Doug🏍️🤓🐻
Its an amazing bike, and many new riders will vibe with it. I have an 883 Iron, love the sound and the engine, I want a Harley to sound and fell like a Harley not a Honda, but that's only me. By what works for you.

I would take the 883 because it looks better. Also it's made of metal not plastic and doesn't sound like a fridge compressor.
100% the sound of the nightster just lost the sale for me. Off to get a second hand iron
The Nightster looks good. Easy to ride function bike. It has good functional options for it as well ie appropriate saddle bags windshield engine guards.

Both bikes is amazing machines. Iron better sound and better dinosaur feeling, but Nightster is a ultra lightweight and beautiful machine that just need a some sound upgrade.
I have a electra glide and love it, was looking for something for the dirt roads without buying a pan america.

Sounds like my Honda Rebel 500 lol. The tech on the nightster is better, and it's objectively a better bike, but there's just something about that air cooled engine that speaks to the soul.
the nightster sound like a Honda ... that is my opinion.

If the only down side is the exhaust note that’s an easy fix With an after market exhaust it’s a nice transition bike for riders transitioning from rice rockets like myself that don’t want to ride a bike that weighs as much as small Car.
The nightsters gas is under the seat. It feels so light!! Fast as hell! More comfortable than the sportster.
To me they both have the same look (if look at the from the side they have the shape of a bull), the nightster is more evolved,

No way you cam compare these two, one is a classic sporster traditional, the other is a whole new Gen.

Two bikes created nearly a century apart ...... look similar but ,technically a world apart . Wish Harley had done this year's ago when I could have afforded one . At 68 I just don't have the means to do so . Maybe buy some lotto tickets ........

@@883kodiak I guess I'm talking more about a uncorked bike like stage 1 xl1200 or a xr1200 that puts down about 75hp/75tq.

@@883kodiak funny you say that because I have a 100hp 94tq sportster with the hammer 1275 big bore, 570 cam and all the supporting mods. My buddy also has a hammer 1275 sportster with the 560 cam ( more of a top end cam ). They both will pull on Mt07's , SV650s and most big twin Harley's unless they have a big bore m8's .

Two totally different bikes... the 883 is just a nice county road plodder for simply enjoying ride..maybe a run down to the beach.
The nightster is an attempt to compete with the Japanese on the same level as their superior cruiser offerings..
*Nightster:* Pros- performance, safety; Con- UGLY as heck.
*Iron 883:* Pros- looks/sounds great, aftermarket; Cons- not quick, VERY unsafe.
I'm stuck. I've been on hairy 883 rides. The Nightster seems like the answer but it's so ugly.
At 6'1 and nightstar 2 inches lower .are these bikes to small ..do forward xo trolls make them worse

@@jimscarnivorekitchen4731, that's promising to hear. Sportster S testers have loved the new engine but hated the extremely limited rear suspension travel.
@@spaceflight1019 yeah your never gonna make everyone happy. The traditionalist hate them both but time moves on, and so does emission regulations. It’s just something that had to move on.
The new engine looks too futuristic and like a plastic Japanese bike.
