I’m so happy that Stranger Things has brought this song back to life, and introduced it to newer/younger generations of kids/people
I watched season 4 with my mom. When Running up that hill came on for the first time I sang along, because I discovered the song randomly a few years back. My mom was so surprised because she grew up in the 80s and heard it all the time.

This is why the Duffer brothers chose this song. It's perfect for Max and Billy Hargrove. If I only could make a deal with God and I'd get him to swap our places. Max felt guilty about Billys death and that she felt powerless to stop it and wanted to or thought about swap places with him, what if it was her. This is why Max withdrew away from Lucas and anyone she was close with so she didn't have to feel pain again or watch anyone she loved get hurt.

My cousin committed suicide nearly 10 years ago now. This was his favourite song and the song he had been listening to as he died and when he was found. It is always a difficult song to listen to, but this was an absolutely wonderful cover and i think he would have loved it. Thank you xx

My friend who was FtM transgender made a video of his transition set to this song, and suicided 2 years after posting it. It’s been 5 years and with the resurgence of Stranger Things and now Drag Race it is hard to listen to, I’m hoping to move through the emotions of hearing it ❤️

The sad mood and tone of your cover really suits this song very well. You have such a beautifully haunting singing voice, and the piano just add to that hauntingness in your voice. I just got home from the hospital - was staying with mom battling cancer stage 4 all day. she's bleeding, suffering, goes through so much pain. this song was recommended for me, and i do undersand why. tiny gift from life i guess.

i really feel like they should use this cover in season 5 for if max really does die because it is the end of the end and the final season. it would perfectly capture all of her memories together like in episode 4 season 4 but much calmer knowing that she is finally at peace and has no more fighting left to do, it would be so heartbreaking but such a perfect cinematic masterpiece like nothing ever seen before in a tv show
