    Limp Bizkit brought Nu Metal into the mainstream and was massively hated for it. I loved them and I didn’t care what anyone thought about it. A lot of Metal has a dark undertone to it and A lot of Nu Metal just made it fun and energetic. I think that’s why Hair Bands from the 80s and early 90s were so popular. People just want to have fun and their is nothing wrong with that.

    The song was very popular when it came out. Once I was having a tough work day. Towards the end my boss started questioning me in front of some of the people I was in charge of, asking why I had done a certain procedure in a certain way. Just on an impulse I screamed out “I did it for the Nookie! So you can take that cookie... My boss just looked at me like WTF? Because he didn’t know what I was talking about, he changed the subject. Later I found out those that had witnessed it spread it among everybody and I became a legend among the workers. For years somebody would randomly walk up to me and say “are you making us do this for the Nookie?” I always told them “legally...I have to say no.”

    Wes is an amazing guitarist also hes part of the camp im from. Meaning i dig like slipknots reason for the masks. You become someone else when play. You become what your projecting in your music. Its liberating

    • @mneugent7658
      @mneugent7658 2 года назад +4

      My understanding was that Wes did that stuff because of stage fright. That layer between the crowd and him made him more at ease. I guess like you said, it made him a character and less himself. I get the feeling he was more comfortable being a musician than a star.

    • @mastod0n1
      @mastod0n1 2 года назад

      @@mneugent7658 that's my mindset when my little local band does small shows and even open jams. I wear a face mask when we play, not because of covid or making a statement, but it's like I can become a character and create a little layer of separation between my general anxiety and my performance and the audience. And honestly it kinda helps that face masks became a part of our society the last 2 years because my anxiety wouldn't play well with me looking like a straight up character with something like a slipknot mask or Wes Borland make up.

    Yeeeeaaa! That you guys enjoyed this one is awesome for me. This was one of my favorite tracks I'd bump on my walkman back as a 14-year-old skater kid, hangin with my buds. Lot of nostalgia there. Reminds me of a much simpler time. One of those few tracks that never really got old for me. It's crazy, but also really cool, to see that Fred's rap actually more than holds up in comparison to a lot of what's popular now too. I think I'm finally starting to understand my parents when they say, "Our generation was better." 😆

    I was born in 63 but I had a son in high school in the late 90s He was so into this! I remember renting Pay per view woodstock 99 back then for him and his friends! Limp Biscuit was a huge part of that show! The Mosh pits and the energy these performers produced at that time was amazing. But its like it never happenned . The younger generation today does not recall it at all. I think Society was in the middle of a huge shift of gears at that point. From Non computer life and no cell phones to a whole new world. The past was not important anymore! Its weird to have lived during that time!

    I went to see them at the "Summer Sanitarium" back in 2003 it was Metallica as the headliner, Lincoln Park, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and Deftones. But Limp Bizkit got Boo'ed off the stage, thank God they were serving beer in plastic bottle cuz they were throwing bottles at them! It was nuts! I guess the crowd just wanted Lincoln Park to play so we could get to the main show, Metallica, which rocked our faces off for nearly 3 hours. Anybody else go to this show in San Francisco?
