The godot engine would probably be a better choice thanks to the fact it is open source, so no one owns it so you can't get f'ed over.

@@Maxikyuit’s great for 3d and 2d. But if you end up decided you want to do solely 3d, I recommend making the switch to unreal engine. For a more versatile engine for both tho godots great. Much better than unity in my opinion, and you can use c# for coding still if u wanna(although learning g script will get you a lot farther)
