When a philosopher talks about The Abyss, I immediately think: The ultimate meaninglessness of the universe. Within our human systems, meaning is paramount; but beyond them, there is no meaning at all. So we can philosophise within a certain human range. But if we dare to contemplate beyond the human realm we finally realize there is no meaning at all. And furthermore, the universe is devestatingly uninterested in the webs of meaning we generate - which exist only inside human minds.
I have an idea for you (and I’m curious of your opinion). What if all of reality was the dream of God, and God is consciousness understanding itself, that is why it’s meaningless but it’s your job to find that meaning, because ultimately you are a thought that is exploring something, and everyone else is that same conscious but a seperate thought exploring something else, so ultimately you are on a mission to understand yourself and find meaning because you are the universe, and that’s what it’s doing

I believe the depiction of the will to power in the animation misinterprets Nietzsche's concept. It's not solely about dominating others in a traditional sense, but rather about pushing oneself towards self-realization, self-overcoming, and the affirmation of life. Nonetheless, I found the video to be good and easy to follow
"The essential thing, however, in a good and healthy aristocracy is that it should not regard itself as a function either of the kingship or the commonwealth, but as its own highest justification-then it should therefore accept with a good conscience the sacrifice of a legion of individuals, who, for its sake, must be suppressed and reduced to imperfect men, to slaves and instruments." - Nietzsche Make no mistake, Nietzsche very much recognizes the core essentiality of external dominance over others & the environment; in fact, he deems it a necessity. The desire to dominate others & out-compete them is core to the will to power; it is why Nietzsche uses men such as Cesare Borgia to represent the archetypical Proto-Ubermensch. The Blond Beast archetype which Nietzsche exalts as the ideal is inherently defined by his instinctual dominance & subjugation of the world around him. Do not fall into the trap that so many "Nietzscheans" fall into after learning about The Will to Power; they get frightened by the emphasis on physical dominance & social/political power, causing them to retreat into a mental safe-space of internal fantasies as opposed to external competition. If you want to play chess against yourself go read Marcus Aurelius; Nietzsche is for those who desire the battle & the victory. For those who wish to take the lightning by force. See you at the summit.
@@Nykandros Nietzsche indeed emphasizes the will to power and dominance as inherent aspects of human nature, but he also discussed how individuals may seek control over others to compensate for perceived shortcomings or vulnerabilities. It seems reasonable that in many instances there are winners and losers. We can argue amongst ourselves that one is good whilst the other is evil. Thus, conclude that there is nothing definitively good or evil. The resultant classification of winners and losers ( and subsequent 'good' and 'evil') is an emergent property of the game. However, if the intention is to avoid a zero sum game and produce a result that is overall equitable for both sides, then it is conceptually 'good' in nature, even on occasions where the result may not score as high as the best 'winning' option in a zero sum game scenario.

Oh I gazed into the abyss once , its endless gnawing corrosive darkness displeased me, not because of the nature of it but because a place such as that , which has seen generations of human minds pass through its unknown and mysterious depths should have been well lit.
I think you missed some of the critcial internal psychological exploration and self-discovery aspect that plays a key role in Nietzsche's work. When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. When you stare into the void, the void takes root in your own soul. Nietasche also expresse the will to power as the tendency to manifest (or desire to manifest) the internal energy of our beings. It can come in the form of art, conquest, or family.
In my opinion, the abyss is always looking at you, it is the only thing that it has to do with its eternal time. If you look too long into it, you just finally start to notice that it was always looking back.
Actually the abyss isn't infinitely deep, it's nice and cool here at the bottom and you can see whats going on very clearly looking up. Can recommend, very relaxing.
If life seems meaningless, then gazing long enough into the abyss tends to result in identifying with the abyss. However, the abyss is nothing. That is, it results in a feeling of nothingness. However, nothingness is an absurd concept, because nothing cannot be (the concept of nothing is purely abstract). The feeling of nothingness is a misidentification. (The picture of the abyss at the start has walls. It has walls because you cannot draw an abyss otherwise. The abyss has a dark attraction. When you identify with the abyss, you might as well have fallen in, and do not perceive walls.)
These concepts are based on the work of machivelli, nitzche believes you should gaze into the abyss to understand how the power works. The first half of the quote is too often disregarded, its the most important part. Learn from the evil but do not become what you believe to be evil and live your life in self loathing
Good and evil are man made constructs, but I would argue that there is still advantages and disadvantages to certain behavior. If you promote kindness and compassion, you will typically have a community where people take care of each other. While promoting selfishness and racism, typically promote violence. I personally would rather live in the first example.
In the dark, with nothing around, no one to influence you; just… you. In a vacuum who are you? This is the void, how are you going to react to complete, cold, self reflection?
That fox is weak, but not that weak. It still rationalised and walked away. But, if it was an average person, it would find another animal who is taller or can fly, and would trick them to go get them for him. It's silly to assume that just because someone is not a master yet, they value kindness and not value power. Everyone values power. Some people either just: 1. think of themselves as too weak go get it, or attempt to get it and fail, but they still try. Or 2. Never want power intentionally. It's not because they don't value it. They just don't want to fall in a trap. The "pursuit of power" is the trap. Imagine the grapes are a bit further away on the ground, and there's a hole covered with leaves in front of it. All animals run after the grapes and fall in. But, the smart animal doesn't go for the grapes intentionally. It's like a donkey and the carrot. The donkey is only made to work cause it believes it can eat the carrot. The donkey who knows it can't eat the carrot, cannot be made to work. It's actually the only thing that can keep someone from becoming a slave. If the way to get power is that simple, then there would be no slaves, because they all run towards getting power. The way to get power has to be hidden and complex, and it has to be the opposite of whatever you're told. Because no one who has power wants to share it with anyone. The way to power is always in the dark, not in the light, not just running after grapes.

When you identify with the abyss, you might as well have fallen in, and do not perceive walls.)
great video!~
the abyss doesn’t scare me anymore
Nietzsche would be proud!
Instruction unclear, I gazed too long into the abyss and I ended up rizzing it
good job 👍
Suggestion, if you had included a background music this video would have been much more powerful
I won’t blink
These concepts are based on the work of machivelli, nitzche believes you should gaze into the abyss to understand how the power works. The first half of the quote is too often disregarded, its the most important part. Learn from the evil but do not become what you believe to be evil and live your life in self loathing
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land amongst the stars. - Norman Vincent Peale
Good and evil are man made constructs, but I would argue that there is still advantages and disadvantages to certain behavior. If you promote kindness and compassion, you will typically have a community where people take care of each other. While promoting selfishness and racism, typically promote violence. I personally would rather live in the first example.
He never had children. If he did, he would know you never say “don’t do”.
Result: Now the abyss looks at us everywhere and every time it so desires.
You cant see the stars until the night come
Daylight is caused by a star dumbarse
when you realize that Neetcha is a humanist who cares about humanity.
well explained
Those who know the truth fear nothing, we stare into the void, and it is us looking back, fear is simply you imagination being controlled by another.
Everyday i gaze to the abyss, in the end we both bored at each other
