Impressive feat and trying to improve on the Neumann lathe is a very worthwhile cause. No doubt recording engineers and vinyl fans alike will be looking forward to it in great anticipation. Will you be considering any eddy current motors or other types of motor which produce a less prominent cogging?
Dear Jonathan, After rethinking your previous video about direct drive vs belt driven turntables, where you stated that we can hear the minute variations in speed due to stretching and shrinking of the belt, i wonder in what order of magnitude the old (say 1950 +) old cutting lathes and tape-recorders had speed variations. When your turntable is 100% stable but the old recorders etc were not THAT stable, does makes the OMA tt sense? In what order of magnitude does a belt driven TT varies its speed? ;) don't worry, your answer will not influence my buying an OMA TT ..... my bank-account however does.
Those aren't Monoblocs unless Jonathan has been experimenting lately. That's the new Special K amp using KT-88 tubes that are triode-wired. It's a 400 lb beast of an amp that sounds sublime.
Nice too see a company with passion and that takes a certain direction of craftsmanship to the extreme and perfection. I look forward to hearing the first vinyl record as mentioned
there are direct drive coggless motors before technics, see VPI direct drive came out a few years prior to the new coreless Technics very expensive motor
Flokason in Switzerland has been manufacturing direct drive motors for all Neumann lathes over the past two to three years. They are widely used across Europe replace the Lyrec. The specifications and motor control are incredibly.I suggest you look at his website to take some inspiration.
Progressing on the cutting lathe while cutting digital masterd music transfer to vinyl ...........QUITE a paradox !...i stick with my original 100% analog vinyl ...
That is wonderful news Jonathan. I hope that you keep us updated, from time to time, on how things are progressing with this exciting effort.
Fascinating! I am really looking forward to future videos following this project Jonathan.

Exciting prospect, good luck!
Thank you!!
Project of the year !
Imagine the bearing strength to support the weight of the platter plus hold down platter, amazing stuff!

Superimposing speed variations onto (different) speed variations causes oscillation. In other words, eliminating any variable makes sense.
the cutting lathes are absolutely crazy pieces of engineering that was decades ahead of consumer garbage
@@tinetannies4637 cool, but your meaningless rant didn't add anything to the actual topic of this discussion
@@tinetannies4637 the poster did not ask, anything close to such question

when the old tech is paired with the new tech ...i dig those mono blocks behind you.. :)

@@beauranheim8694 wow i bet is does ..this was my first time seeing this channel ..thanks for the info :)

Super cool. Exciting development.
amazing def need to give you a call
Good grief overbuilt quality and ingenious engineering…! Lovely lovely stuff!
Jonathan: Whatever happened to K4? Curious...
Talking about quality, still worried by the rest of the production chain after cutting lathe but congrats 🎉
Oh so the Special K amplifier uses Monolith Magnetics transformers, I like them a lot
It`s interesting to know Neumann lathe aluminum disk diameter.. It`s near 400mm??
looks like it's scaled to do 16" discs, so probably around 400mm ya
@@weatheranddarkness Thanks!!
A AC motor wasn't produced corgi
I have a feeling OMA will wind up doing more than just the motor for the Neumann cutting lathe.
Technics sp2 motor
