The melody is an old German folk song from the 17th century know as "Oh Tannenbaum".

@@KillaIn556 Which is an unprecise and a bit narrow translation, as Tannenbaum means fir tree. Often interpreted as Christmas Tree, but the German text also leaves open a different, more pagan interpretation. Maybe it's Yggdrasil, the sacred tree of Norse mythology. Or simply the fact, that firs stay green during the winter.

@@eunaekim9216 Yeah, the republican governor hogan only won because their gop didn’t have far-right gubernatorial candidates then and when it came to that type of election in general the GOP had a 50-state strategy; think of Chris Sununu in NH, Charlie Baker in Mass, Dan Evans in Washington, Arnold Schwarzenegger in California…

Governor just banned it. Says has Confederate links.
That's been known for ages, all of sudden it's become an issue? Especially when they didn't use the Confederate verses before abolition. Disappointing they threw away their heritage.

It's a shame that they banned it.
