I love that you get more personalized playthrough when playing as origin characters and content you otherwise don't see, but hate that they are than mostly mute. Astarion has such fantastic voice actor when have him as companion and you hear him talks so much and have so much personality, same as other companions, it's a crime to miss it
I was thinking of doing his run because wanted to see how he would come out as a vampire but reading that you don't hear the voices is a rather let down yes would of took more time but be much more personal.
@@paulsnow5664you hear him speaking when you don't click in his speech. When he's walking he reacts to things and talk to companions. It's nice. Sadly not everything but its worth
well he is actually strong, he has lived for 100 years and mostly feeds on animals so he has a good heart BUT is A BIT SASSY , and likes goth stuff you how it is with vampire darkness n all

So is playing as him actually significantly different from playing as a custom PC? In terms of story, I mean. Like, are your choices limited to something that would be in character for our resident angsty vampire boy, for example?
Yes it has his own dialogs and some choices are astarion only like when I went to tell shadow heart about cazador , I don't think custom can tell such story. So yeah , but other than that everything is same you can respec origin character to you liking class and play won't effect the dialogs only enhance them by having proper class , and he is silent like custom tav so that's a bit sad though but you can't create a vampire mage who knows necromancy so yea I wanted this so I made other tha that I see nothing new till now
For this reason to play BG you must play the dark purge wich is the real protagonist of BG3,..Without playing it it is like you miss the protagonist of the game...Larian did another good choice here...The others origin character are in the game however and you know them so you don't need to play them, they are however in the story..But the dark purge?? The dark purge isn't in the game if you don't play it..Larian is saying " this is the protagonist of the game it's your choice to create your own character or knowing the true story"...
Trying to skim the vid but I can't find the particular scene where he tries to feed on an ally in the night. Does that still occur and if it does, is the script flipped where you are now trying to roll to convince them to let you?
It does occur, yes. Astarion wakes from a nightmare about Cazador, recalling his 'commandments' for his slaves, and decides to try breaking the first--'thou shalt not drink the blood of any thinking creature' and chooses a companion to try biting. (If you don't have a full party yet when this scene triggers, the 4th place will evidently be filled with the model for the Oathbreaker Paladin--at least, that's what happened in my run!) You roll stealth to avoid waking them up with the bite.
lol what? He's generating opportunity attacks from the mobs and is spreading his damage across multiple mobs instead of killing them thus not preventing damage the following round.... He's taking a lot more damage than needed.
@@gameplayhotspot Understandable. I'm making my Astarion a Rogue/Bard and the "Face" of the party. Afterall vampires are supposed to be charismatic aren't they? XD 🦇 Maybe give him a violin and he can be my Lestat lol
yes I also switched to m&kb but playing on 50-inch tv and laying back like a lazy ass has a satisfying feeling also ah , but i missed like many good gear because of that , so i am now on m&kb
personally I us both... I lean back in my comfy soft chair and play with controller for exploration.. doing all the clicking and flying camera for moving the whole game would be tedious.. I only switch to m/k for combat and not even all the time.. people can play how ever they want...
