This was Chaka's song originally in the late 70s. It was a smash hit. She knocked it out the park. Whitney invited Chaka to be a part of her video and to do background vocals. Chaka was notably highlighted and zoomed in on as a guest of honor in the video.

There’s nowhere I can find that Chaka sang background on Whitney’s version. Whitney gave her a shout out on the song and even had her on the video and asked her to appear on the Divas live performance. But I have never seen anywhere that Chaka sang background on Whitney’s version. There was a lot of people that claimed Whitney sang on Chaka Khan’s version but that’s not true. Whitney sang background for Chaka but not on I’m Every Woman except maybe in a few live performances. Show me where Chaka is credited as a background singer on Whitney’s version.

First of all, Whitney was only 14 or 15 when Chaka recorded her version of the song. So she wasn't even thought about as far as singing on Chaka's original version. Second of all, when I mentioned Chaka as a background singer on Whitney's version, I was referring to her participation in the video itself [a**hole]. If you've looked at the video, you will see that is exactly what went down.

It is on youtube. Whitney was doing session singer, singing and her recorded her first eternal love at 16! in 1979! look for the song. So she wa slaready singing all over the place when the original was recorded

The original of this was done by Chaka Khan and the arrangement here is pretty similar, and at the end of this version, she gives a shout-out to Chaka Khan by saying her name several times at the end. Chaka is not on the track. The song was written for Chaka's first solo album by Ashford and Simpson. I happen to like Chaka's version a bit more than this one but it's good.

Whitney did an awesome cover of this song but, it's not as good as the original by Chaka Khan. You guys should check out the original version which was a big hit for her. This song was written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson who also wrote some of the classic Motown hits including, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "You're All I Need to Get By," "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," and "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)." Ashford and Simpson also sang together and had some hits including, my favorite from them, "Found A Cure" from 1979.

I am hoping that you guys either watch and react to either "The Bodyguard" ( with Kevin Costner) or "Waiting To Exhale" (with Angela Bassett) on your movie channel soon. Both of these films have amazing soundtracks with "The Bodyguard" soundtrack being one of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time. Angela Bassett's performance in "Waiting To Exhale" is powerful and the soundtrack has a lot of great songs from great 90's female artists such as Mary J. Blige and Brandy. I hope you two can watch that film and listen to some of the songs from that film. It's great all around. Thank you for listening to Whitney Houston, the greatest female artist of my time. For some reason other reactors don't react to her music and it's their loss. I miss her greatly.

I love Whitney’s version. I grew up listening to Chaka and I’m very familiar to her classic original version. When The Bodyguard soundtrack came out, I played I’m Every Woman more than I Will Always Love You. For the record, there’s nowhere listed that Chaka Khan sang background on Whitney’s version. All it says is that Chaka inspired the vocals. I’ve looked all over and nowhere credible shows Chaka sang background. Whitney gave Chaka a shout out and put her on the video. That’s all.

I believe in my heart God gave Whitney the greatest voice i will ever here in my life time. It's my opinion and yes it's coming from a white man . Unfortunately i have to say that cause all other races think we are racist. I'm so glad i have one foot in the grave cause i don't like what i see coming but i feel very sorry for my children and grand child.

Whitney couldn't sing the bridge of IEW live, she always used a backing track or lip sync. She use to get hoarse a lot and the rumor was it happened because of her trying to sing the bridge of IEW. Chaka made that bridge pretty difficult to sing because of the power, subtle runs and range of her voice. Chaka recorded that song when she was 25 years old and sounded like a woman 15 to 20 years her senior, Whitney was nearly 30 when she recorded her version and sounded more young girl like. Songs by Chaka like "Night in Tunisia, Some Love and Got to be there" are songs that showcase her incredible vocal range with power and that's why Whitney adored Chaka.
@@ronaldw548 The Whitney haters LOVE to use IEW bridge live to make it like Whitney couldn't have done it. When she has so many other songs sung live where she sings even HIGHER than the IEW bridge. So that's just foolish. And name me ONE Chaka Khan performance where she's hitting those high note Operatic head voice range... Chaka could NEVER get her vocal range up that high to hit those kind of notes that Whitney would hit...... Chaka has a powerful voice, yes of course(she does a lot of yelling and screaming, even in her PRIME, but she still has a powerful voice)... Whitney's voice is more pleasant to the ear, with power, but can also sing so Angelic and soft in her Falsetto voice, then that ICONIC vibrato and tone. Whitney for the WIN✅✅

Well Betsy I hate to break it to you, but Chaka was Whitney's favorite singer. She idolized Chaka her father John said she would be in her room playing Chaka over and over, even Robin said the same thing. Chaka has many songs that prove her range is far greater than Whitney and I'll use one song to prove it "Got to be there." "Some Love" is another all you have to do is turn the volume up and play both of them and you'll understand.
