Thank you for this video. I bought my first car yesterday, a ford focus S 2012 hatchback. Your tips and advice are excellent and practical and realistic. I like the term "it's not the end of the world" that when something is not working, a mechanic can fix it. Thank you very much!
Bar Keepers Friend, then 3M rubbing compound, on all cloudy, and yellowing polycarbonate lighting lenses. Saved me a couple hundred dollars on new Fiesta headlights.
Absolutely! The slow way, with some rags and an additional can of elbow grease, or hit up Harbor Freight, and get some wheels for polishing with any drill motor. My headache right now is only a whomped out blend door actuator under my steering column, that finally broke a couple teeth off one of the gears inside. Great time to have to do a job that takes smaller hands in very tight spaces, in the cold outside. I just don't feel like pulling the leg airbag, to get wider access, and $750 is way out of my budget, for this repair. 🥴@@BigBensCarsAndCycles
I recommend keeping a good coating of Meguiar's on the headlight lenses, when they're in good condition, as a sacrificial layer to keep them from clouding prematurely.
Just wanted to thank you so much for this video. I really want a Focus from the 2012 to 2014 body style. This blue color is the one I’m looking for. It’s such a pretty blue. Is this a hatchback? I test drove a 2013 once and it felt like the Focus had get up and go felt like you have a lot of power on the interstate even tho it’s a 4 cylinder? It felt like a faster car. I really want a sedan model but I’m still paying on my Chevrolet Sonic. When I’m able I hope to trade. Thanks for checklist on this. Ppl tell me Focuses are bad but I like them, still want one.
Hi Ben, thank you very much for all your videos. Can I ask a question, what is doing click on transmission on FF2017 when you full stop say from 60-70 km/h. It’s not something bothering just curious. Thanks in advance
Oh appricate it! I have watched the replacement video of yours. sadly I do not have the heavy duty tool to insert the bushing. Maybe near auto fix shop can do it for around 10 buck?@@BigBensCarsAndCycles
@@peanut_bear8049the dual clutch transmissions are famously fault prone. There was even a class action lawsuit against ford on it. It’s all over the internet and mechanic forums. Poor people buying them and then having to pay 00s
Are a/c compressor failures common on Foci? I had mine go out back in the summer and it took out a few other connected a/c parts. Seemed like it made a metallic knocking sound for months before failing. That's been my only big repair. Knock on 🪵
They're not super common. But not unheard of. More so something that can happen on most high mileage cars, foci included. I haven't had it fail on one of mine, then again I don't hang on to cars more than a year or two so..lol

Hello i have a mk3 and when i go like 15-30 km an h with second gear i get like a cluncking noise, only when gas applied any ideas?
if theres no codes, or missing gears, then its probably just a quirk of your clutch and I wouldn't worry

"It's not the end of the world" that's what we mechanics say.
What year is that
2012. Applies to 2012 to 2018
Stay well away from Focus autos - famously awful!
You mind elaborating?
