    I think what really makes Senorita works so well is that, as you said, it uses latin music in a way that isn't stereotypical or memey and actually sounds like a spanish-influenced song. (G)I-DLE did a great job with this comeback and there's a reason it sounds so good!

    As a latin kpop fan i enjoyed this a lot a lot a lot, finally a kpop and latin music crossover that doesnt sound gimmicky neither generic reggaeton sounds. Btw the tango and flamenco vibes are just fantastic their delivery is on point and the music refferences sound legit [i know how real tango and flamenco sounds] but also fun and refreshing in this very saturated kpop world, personally best 2019 comeback so far

    • @isaaccastro4846
      @isaaccastro4846 5 лет назад +33

      Park Hyesung those two songs are just reggaeton songs (both sounds like maluma felices los 4 if you listen the instrumental closely) with kpop sprinkled on top, reggaeton has been the most popular genre in latinamerica since daddy yankee's la gasolina 2005 [the dembow base and percusion] so its the same formula we have been listening to [in latinamerica] FOR 14 YEARS [at least for me it isnt anything special and honestly the korean performances sound very gimmicky] meanwhile, señorita its a flamenco song with a classic tango on the piano and some edm sounds a very rare combination even in latin america [only rosalia is doing something like that, and everyone praises her for moving the latin music forrward] so thats why, sorry for the long reply but you may find it interesting and if you're curious about the un-specialness about the reggaeton today just listen to any [rakim & ken y, don omar, tito el bambino, maluma, becky g, wisin & yandel.....] at the begining it was fun but it has been the same formula for 14 years. Latin music is super diverse and this song embraces perfectly taking sounds from spain and argentina unlike any other kpop latin inspired song

    I can understand why people were disappointed by the song, but I actually really enjoyed it! The vocals really made it for me, specifically in the verses. Soojin and Soyeon were able to bring out the feel of the lyrics SO WELL. The whispery tone mixed with very slight vocal fry at the end of the phrases felt so mischievous and playful. I know a lot of people thought soyeon's verse disrupted the flow of the song but I thought that it added more dimension and the vocals from the teaser in the background were a really nice touch. My only complaints are that I think the chorus lacked the variation that the verses had and though Yuqi's part at the end was very catchy I felt like it went on for a little too long and finished kind the song off abruptly.

    Everyone is being really negative towards this song but it was an instant like for me. I think people can’t seem to appreciate anything without a beat drop these days. This song has some nice variation (Soyeon’s rap section, extended outro instead of a third chorus) and is executed very well. I feel like people are just trying to bring them down.

    • @alexandraohara5323

      Naturally not everyone has to like everything, people are entitled to their own opinions and I like a song with a good beat drop as much as anyone else but it just feels like they tried something different and because it doesn’t fit the same expectations and perfect mould of other songs people are automatically writing it off as bad

    I was kinda sad how short it seemed. Like it has two first verses then a double prechorus. Then suddenly every part after that is only half as long. And then after the shortened second chorus, the song is basically over! I like it but I wish it was longer or felt more full or something. I feel the beginning seemed promising but it never really took us anywhere?

      I mean it's 3 minutes minus the yuqi fufu part, but that part is mostly added to give melody to their dance break at the end. This song is better recieved through a performance than a MV, in my opinion.

      I guess one thing that makes this song feel sooo short is... there’s no ‘real’ bridge or ‘climax’ for this song, they just going repetitive for ‘fufufu’, and would be better if they add some intro before soyeon starts singing (such as this MV ver)

    The rap actually interests me in this one, I listen to quite some rap and soyeon always gets me. She's an actual rapper rather than the usual girlgroup rapper. But that aside and focussing on the rap in this song. I think it's really a creative exploration that soyeon took. The rap falls out of what I'd have expected after listening to the other parts before it and it kind of throws me out of a "just-listening"-mode into actually being interested in the song again. I definitely didn't expect her to put something like that in a title track because i'd expect them to choose a rap that just fits in. This was a first for me in kpop to see an exploration in a girlgroups rap like this. I see why some ppl might critizise it though. It's just really polarizing but I think it's really well done from an artistic standpoint.
    What i'd like soyeon to do would be to put a rap into one of their songs that's more like the typical raps she had in unpretty rapstar. I know it probably is hard to fit smth like that in but I think soyeon is really holding back on some talent by trying to fit her stuff to the norm. Obviously she didn't this time, but here it was more like a stylistic change rather than a particulary skillful one. I've seen her rap some really hard lines way faster and more focussed on flow than what she's showing in atleast their title tracks ($$ and what's in your house were some good examples of her rap but still nothing ground breaking).
    Overall I like this song. The you-foo-foo part could've been a bit shorter, but I love the Señorita voice in the chorus and the vocal lines. I think I explained my opinion on Soyeons rap. Let's hope for some longer parts for Shuhua in the next one besides a rap from soyeon that not only catches the masses again but also captures some of her incredible skills as a rapper and not only a creative songwriter.

    I think the song worked alright but it felt, I don’t know, sparse? Maybe empty is the word I’m looking for. I was waiting for the song to build to something but it never did. The “yoo-foo-foo” section in particular felt way too long, and when it was done the song ending seemed anticlimactic.
    Side note, did anyone else get thrown off by the adlibs under Soyeon’s rap? To me it was like the two lines were fighting for my attention which lessened the rap’s impact.
    On the positive I love the verses, they fit the vibe the lyrics are setting up, IMO they made the song. That and the MV is just great.
    To sum it up, this song was a 5/10, not awful but a drop in quality compared to Hann.

    NO ENTIENDO por qué a los yankees NO les gusta esta canción. Sé que hay hispano hablantes a quiénes tampoco les gustó la canción pero por qué la mayoría de los yankees la encuentran “vacia”. EJEMPLO: Canciones que ellos ven latinas son únicamente canciones de reggeatón, pocos yankees se dan el tiempo de escuchar “Te Aviso Te Anuncio” que es tango y desde mi lado más argentino ME FASCINÓ la simplecidad con la que Shakira pudo mezclar un buen tango con buen reggeatón y esa vibra de música gitana que ella tiene. GIDLE, hizo algo parecido. No hizo como Mamamoo o SJ que literalmente sonó todo a puro reggeatón (que no está mal, es más, amé esas canciones) SINO que agarraron otros géneros más tradicionales como el estilo salsero, tanguero que tiene gusto para ser bailable pero con ese tono pop para que sea para el agrado de varios.
    Aprecien los colores, las tomas, la caracterización. Aprecien la canción y el fondo, como los instrumentos se acoplan tan bien a ellas y al beat.

    I loved Senorita the first time I heard it, and I can't stop listening to it. So for me it's just as good as Hann and Latata; If not better. I particularly like the Men's earthy, Latin voices shouting out Senorita and how it introduces the spatial, majestic brass section; yet this is still underpinned by the laid back beat.This contrasts nicely with the girl's voices. I love Yuqi's you foo fooo foo voo voo voo voo voo and how her voice rises on the you. Whilst a lone distant trumpet can be heard. This song exudes confidence.
    The lavish, sensual, classy MV is excellent. Love the rich colours used particularly magenta. The girls look stunning in their beautiful clothes. Love the pick up hook on the chain swinging past Shuhua contrasting threat with fragile beauty . And also listen to the subtle random-like vocalisations such as at 1.00 into the MV. Didn't notice at first the Senorita razor blade in Soyeon's lollipop.
    A Latin inspired Kpop song. Brilliant and addictive.

    MV aside, the song was just okay to me. I actually expected a more lukewarm response from y'all, but the brass instruments tipped the scales, haha. It's rather sparse, and a pretty standard latin-pop attempt.

    • @UniiTeDArtz
      @UniiTeDArtz 5 лет назад +29

      They said in the video that it ISN'T a standard latin-pop attempt. Dunno how you think it is? It clearly incorporates the latin sound much better than other groups have done in the past.

    • @mikerojano7305
      @mikerojano7305 5 лет назад +11

      @@UniiTeDArtz I'm not comparing them to kpop attempts at latin pop, I'm talking about latin pop itself. Just because they say so, doesn't make it entirely true. Yes, it may or may not be better than what other groups have done in the past, I'm just saying it's nothing you wouldn't hear allll the time in real latin pop.
      Edit: and that's totally fine. They don't have to make a perfect latin pop song, I only said it was okay to me. Like what you like.

    • @bobbo922
      @bobbo922 5 лет назад +18

      @@mikerojano7305 I mean I dont think they were aiming to make a latin pop song, just a fusion/integration between K-pop and latin pop. It has elements of both genres, I could see where you're coming from if it didn't also have the K-pop elements in it.

    • @mikerojano7305
      @mikerojano7305 5 лет назад +4

      @@bobbo922 I mean yeah, of course, at its core it's still a k-pop song. Saying it's an attempt at latin pop versus saying it's an attempt at a latin pop/k-pop fusion song is the same thing, just semantics. It is far from a failure, and still enjoyable. Just underwhelming (and I can't express this enough to avoid people trying to argue) for me.

    The bandwagon hate for this song is ridiculous. This is absolutely, in my opinion, the song of the year so far and might be up there as g idle's best song so far (idk if its better then Hann yet). Maybe I like it so much because it reminds me of some of the best 2nd generation kpop songs (sistar's give it to me, aoa, nine muses) but idk I feel like people aren't even giving this song a chance.

      If anyone DARES to destroy good quality art supplies...
      Depending on brand and quantity art supplies can cost more than instruments because you also have to replace them more often than you would an instrument... I'm sorry that I went off on a tangent, but I couldn't help myself.
