I feel like this song was intentionally made this way cuz it makes it stand out more. This song is sooooo different to what any other group is putting out right now and it's very CLC (I don't think any other group could have pulled this song + concept off as well as they did). This song is very much meant to be performed and works way better with an audience and choreo than just a stand alone song. I feel like the other songs in the album, although more harmonically interesting, would never have allowed for CLC to have the stage presence + amazing choreo they had with this song and ultimately those songs wouldn't have gotten them their first win. So cube made a good choice promoting this song (after too many fuck ups in my opinion, like Where Are You is an amazing song, but releasing that song after their Hobgoblin comeback was stupid, and left people who considered stanning CLC for their badass girlcrush concept confused)
I think all girl group from CUBE could use this sounds. CUBE really make their music style on 'their box' like they haven't diversity of music on their group. It's all sounds same.
I think being harmonically sparse actually makes this song stand out and refreshing in a sea of kpop girl group songs nowadays. As most kpop songs are blasting synths in your face trying to outdo one another, this song is loud enough while using less, which is very commendable imo :)

I actually love this song for the exact reason that it doesn't intensely go anywhere too different or too far! When I just want to have an easy listen and chill this song is perfect~ Sometimes you don't want a sudden beat drop to switch the mood and this song is nice for that. ❤
I was worried about the first win due to the sparseness of No. With Chesires working overtime on pre-voting and decent sales, the first win came and CLC has a reprieve from the Cube dungeon. The next comeback needs to be killer.
I really wasn’t sure when I first listened to it, as a hardcore CLC fan I was worried BUT after a few more listened I really appreciated it. It’s one of the most different, unique songs I’ve ever heard. They completely shattered the standards of kpop, the “box” kpop songs are presented in as well as gg songs in general. I
Funfact: the lyrics are about not wanting to appease other people and just be who you want to be, and to say No to all expectations (red lips, high heels, earrings...). So you guys saying "I'd want to" and "I'd like to", but "I guess they said no to that" is exactly what's happening :D
I feel like this being held back in its own way, both musically and from the point of view of the visual representations, was the appropriate and smart way to approach this song. Since I believe it's about the feminist movement in Korea, and because there are people who burn the pictures of idols who even associate themselves with the notion of feminism (see, Irene's pictures being set on fire by angry fans who don't agree with her politics after she posted a picture while reading a feminist book), they had to hold back as much as possible both with the song and its lyrics, so that it's not so in your face. They wanted to support the movement, and to support independent korean women, for which I will be forever grateful because it was a brave move, but without compromising the group. It wasn't an all-out feminism anthem because an all-out feminism anthem wouldn't be supported in Korea.
I totally get the approach you take while evaluating music, and respect it. I watch this channel since I can remember, and I really like that there is kpop related reaction channel that does something different and I think that's very important (I'm a 'musician' myself, though self-taught, so I'm very happy that channel, like yours, with this kind of approach exists). However, with this reaction I kind of realised that you perceive and evaluate music somehow shortsightedly. I understand that it's very difficult (if almost impossible) to ignore your musical background while doing those things [i.e. reacting etc.], and if you have training like you do, and probably grew up while being exposed to classical music or jazz or sth that is very rich, and complex (and I love this kind of stuff as well), it affects your point of view drastically, but with this song (and maybe some other too) I kind of noticed that, because of all of this (which is understandable) you tend to miss on a lot of things. Yes, this song is not the most interesting thing musically (at least in a way you understand/use this word), it's not full of tonal changes, it may not have complex chord progression, and maybe it doesn't 'go anywhere', but what about all those beat changes, what about interesting use of different samples (esp in a rap parts), interesting textures in the instrumental etc. and most importantly what about the fact that CLC pulled off, and I dare to say it, one of the most experimental tracks in kpop history (at least when it comes to title tracks)? I mean, the last 30-something seconds of the song is imo one of the most interesting, and boldest things that I've ever heard in kpop, and I listen to it since 2010, it's also very daring to put spoken word only with sub-bass for such a long duration of the track, and I am actually surprised (in a bad way) that you didn't even pick up on that part, for which I blame your somewhat rigid way you perceive and evaluate music. What I actually want to say with this long-ass comment is that, since you are musicians, and you are creative, and (I hope so) open-minded people, I wish your reactions/reviews sometimes were not only about how complex or rich a song is, or as you put it "musically interesting" it is, which as I mentioned, can mean a lot of different things. For example, extent to which "No" is experimental makes it actually very "musically interesting" to me, because not only chords or harmonic (or any other) complexity makes music interesting, but also ideas, and how cutting edge and innovative they are, and it's part of your and our job as fans to recognize that. I'm not saying you bashed this song completely, and by no means I'm writing this comment to disrespect you, I actually care about your channel, and I think it's really valuable to the kpop community, I just wish you could sometimes step out of your 'comfort zone' (lol), and try to evaluate songs with a different approach, that's all. It's also possible that you came to some conclusions a few days after you had first heard the song, I get that it was your first listen, so you might not think about certain things initially. Anyway, I hope this channel will grow more and more, because it brings all of us so much joy :) I wish you all the best.

I don’t think every song that “builds” needs to have a Huge beat drop or something Big needs to happen. There’s a little something in the...second beat? of the chorus and the chorus feels like enough? I think what I’m trying to say is that the chorus is enough of a “drop” for the type of slow building they did with this song. I think it matches.

I feel like the B sides of their album are slightly better than the title track, for example Like It and I Need U are soooo damn good, but I still like No though for sure.
I couldn't stand the red lip? no part the first couple of times listening to it but it grew on me a lot. I feel that my main problem was that the chorus should've been way bigger. They won a 1 with this song which is well deserved since they've worked so hard but tbh I feel like Show or Like It from their album should've been the title just cause it's got WAY more life to it and more interesting sounds but I do understand them wanting to have Soyeon's song be their title cause they're close with her and she has had a good streak in the past.
Yes! I'm wondering if conveying their message in Korea of women's strong assertiveness requires keeping a balance between hard-hitting music and a song that captures attention by providing less of the expected tropes (for example, some of 4Minutes & MAMAMOO's songs.)
In terms of concept and meaning behind the song. no definitely deserve to be a title track. Plus, international fans likes the unique songs of the album but to make sure they get wins, they choose a song that Koreans is used to. Sorry for my bad English.
I feel like it’s always after I watch your guys reactions I always hear things I’ve never heard before. Like today I just noticed like the whip crack before the chorus.
loving sean!! he's such a charming lil guy... with this song i really would have enjoyed a last chorus like the song ending right after the dance part always disappoints me but i like it enough either way!!
It’s almost as if Cube was unwilling to spend on outside songwriting and producing. And while label mate Soyeon is certainly talented, how could she help but to save her best for her own group. In the end No has been good enough to clinch one win, thank goodness, but so far no more than one.
Not to the point that cube unwilling to spend but if you look cube philosophy they want their artist to be excel in other fields to not only idol group but ARTIST type idol who can compsed and produce their own songs..
I don't know about unwilling to spend on outside producer because Cube does not work that way. They have a set of in-house producers and they're not like other companies like SM who have some in house and some they commission. So they don't have to pay anymore than that and those producers have worked with CLC and continue to work with them even in this album. Also Cube is in the business of creating idol composers/artists, so it is not surprising they would take Soyeon who has been successful so far in the industry and knows the group well to co produce the song. And we can arguably say it was a success. Also no second win has to do with low physical/digital sales in comparison to the other artists competing against them that have huge fandoms. But if you just look at CLC, No is one of their best chart ranking songs in Korea and Internationally. They have also been nominated on music shows more than they have ever been before. All this to say the song is liked by the public. PS: Cube has arguably the most composerdol in their company than most companies in Korea. Not only composing for themselves but for others. All of BTOB produces Same for Pentagon with Hui and Kino writing for others Minie and Soyeon for Idle with Soyeon also writing for other artists. CLC has started with Elkie, and they have Yeun.
You have to watch his "want" and "artistic groove" at You Heeyeol's Sketchbook!! It's the live version for choreo. And artistic groove he choreographed by himself. I would love musicians perspective on both!!!
Awwwww no subtitles this time. It's a big effort to do them so I get it, but I definitely look forward to them! Thank you guys for reacting. :) Umu! Do you know what's going to happen to RttK when you graduate? I'd still like to see it happen but obviously you have your own career and life aspirations!
I don’t know, it seems like you guys don’t like a “down drop,” which I could understand, but I think it’s fine if it’s good lol but yeah, “NO” is a bop. 🔥
I'm wondering if conveying their message in Korea of women's strong assertiveness requires keeping a balance between hard-hitting music and a song that captures attention by providing less of the expected tropes (even avoiding what some of 4Minutes hard-hitters such as 'CRAZY' and 'I Hate You' do, for example). And it then allows CLC to bring the focus more on the visual movement , on personal charisma, on dance., on visual symbolism in the MV. The song really kept my interest because there was still enough change (for me) - and I definitely am curious how others react to it. So it's strong in that sense too. 👄 🚫
bridge?...noooo. some songs aren't really meant for all that high energy arpeggios and the like, though. I think the subtle changes in the rhythm are what they were going for
I'm disappointed, you didn't pay attention to the lyrics and their relation with the MV. I know that you're doing video in the perspective of musicians but at least, try to consider that a little more when it comes to this kind of songs. Even if you won't have all the references, it would have make your video more interesting and relevant.
What?? They never pay attention to lyrics for their reaction. Why would they start now? This has always been a channel that focuses on the musical aspects of kpop songs. They can’t focus on lyrics, MV and the music at the same time and they can’t just extend the video for a lyric reaction because they’re busy and uploading and editing would take too long. If you’re looking for lyric analysis you’ve come to the wrong place.
Some songs doesn't have to be interesting musically to be good. Take the Rap per example. @@BigFatSammich They already did in others videos and it would have been good to pay attention to the lyrics and the MV in this one. So for me, it's not among the best reaction videos of 'No' on youtube.
@@robindejongste5683 Oh we were talking about the melody but in fact, they liked the song. It's just that the lyrics and the MV have been a big help for the success of the song. It's not a critic about the channel in general, it's just that I was disappointed in that case.
@@L4in1998 but umu has said multiple times that if the song is not musicly interesting it doesnt mean that the song is bad aka that she would not like the song. So for you to say this doesnt really make sense, because i suppose you came her for a musical analysis of the song and not a lyrics breakdown. Furthermore, if a reaction doesnt line up with your own believes that doesnt mean its a bad/disappointing reacting. Its their authentic reaction and if they would go with popular believe like most kpop react channels do, then the reactions would get boring pretty quickly (like i find with most other react-channels)
I’d love to hear your opinion on Itzy - Dalla Dalla I don’t know how to feel about it I’d love to hear the technical side of it from someone with a musical ear

Still got their first win...I freaking love this song. Just as much as Black Dress. Maybe more...
Well thjs song is actually made to be PERFORMED.
Will Sean be in the main series?? Please say YESSS!!
Im such a big fan of the first prechorus build up w Yeeun and Eunbin
Sean was so happy with that No pun 😂😂
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! YOU ARE SO GOOD AT REACTIONS!!!
loving sean!! he's such a charming lil guy... with this song i really would have enjoyed a last chorus like the song ending right after the dance part always disappoints me but i like it enough either way!!
Will i ever leave the kpop world? *NO*
It’s almost as if Cube was unwilling to spend on outside songwriting and producing.
All of BTOB produces
Same for Pentagon with Hui and Kino writing for others
Minie and Soyeon for Idle with Soyeon also writing for other artists.
CLC has started with Elkie, and they have Yeun.
well guess what hag, they got their second win
2 wins actually
YEAH MY CLC♥🔥
Support them
You have to watch his "want" and "artistic groove" at You Heeyeol's Sketchbook!! It's the live version for choreo. And artistic groove he choreographed by himself.
I would love musicians perspective on both!!!

Umu!

They will react to it. read the description before you comment please
FINALLYYYYY OMG
Umu's voice is so UwU
I'm wondering if conveying their message in Korea of women's strong assertiveness requires keeping a balance between hard-hitting music and a song that captures attention by providing less of the expected tropes (even avoiding what some of 4Minutes hard-hitters such as 'CRAZY' and 'I Hate You' do, for example). And it then allows CLC to bring the focus more on the visual movement , on personal charisma, on dance., on visual symbolism in the MV. The song really kept my interest because there was still enough change (for me) - and I definitely am curious how others react to it. So it's strong in that sense too. 👄 🚫
sean's voice remind me of Matt Bennet's !
Please react to the whole album, you wont regret it!!!
He's so cute
Can't wait for you guys to react to itzy dalla dalla
Please Classicals Musicians react to Itzy Dalla Dalla, it much be fun to see their counfuse and shock from the transition in the chorus
bridge?...noooo. some songs aren't really meant for all that high energy arpeggios and the like, though. I think the subtle changes in the rhythm are what they were going for
6:35 GOOD ONE!! XD
I'm disappointed, you didn't pay attention to the lyrics and their relation with the MV. I know that you're doing video in the perspective of musicians but at least, try to consider that a little more when it comes to this kind of songs.
Even if you won't have all the references, it would have make your video more interesting and relevant.
Yeah but a song doesnt get more musicly interesting if they would have known the lyrics
Howw abouttt black dress??
I’d love to hear your opinion on Itzy - Dalla Dalla I don’t know how to feel about it I’d love to hear the technical side of it from someone with a musical ear
