    Interesting discussion on the various topics. I had seen some of his videos in the past with regard to white crane and it was good to hear about the development of the art and how over time changes can occur. The martial art I have been training in for 11 years also has elements of the 5 ancestors and wing chun styles and we also incorporate the "hard" positive energy and the "soft" negative energy.

    Is being bald required in mastering internal arts? 😂 Kidding aside, this discussion rocks! A huge thanks ❤

      If you are bald, yes. If not, then no.

      Is that what I have not mastered the internal parts of my art? I still have hair on my head. 😂😂😉

    What is interesting is that many years ago Robert Smith wrote a little book on Shaolin and indicated that the “external and internal systems “ became one at the top.

    I missed the Wing Chun practitioner you mentioned near the end and the transcript didn’t yield anything accurate so would you mind sharing his name please? Interested in any WC teacher that you find skilled. Most aren’t lol

    Great discussion. Interesting to hear the parallels in Sufism with taming the heart in Chinese systems. Also a flashback to visiting Cathays Community Centre in Cardiff many years ago to practice tai chi. That one was quite decent back in the 90's, as I remember it anyway.

    Very good conversation. It was nice of you to give Shkar a place on your channel. Hes very interesting!!
    If you ever get a chance please ask Dr Ian Baker for an interview.
    He has discussed everything from Vajrayana to Kaula Tantra to External Alchemy in Myanmar (and the Indonesian lineage that must not be named :D )
    I think you two would have a great chat

    Interesting comments about Hermetics. I don't disagree that this is what modern western occultism has become but it's worth noting that initially systems like the Golden Dawn has the purpose of "knowledge of and conversation with the Higher Genius", the higher genius or "guardian angel" being the higher aspect of the self that was connected to the divine.
    And indeed, they talk about overcoming the lower self but they use Kabbalistic terminology.
    But so much syncretism and theosophism and new age bs have really watered down whatever real tradition was left. Which is sad because the western esoteric tradition was so rich once upon time + more culturally familiar.
    While I love exploring the Chinese arts, there's something to be said about applying eastern ideas to a western mind;
