I couldn't remember which plates I ordered because of how hectic the ordering process was, but happily POM was one of them because this sounds so good! Will be curious to compare it to PC and alu as well.
I actually have some of them with deskkey films, but honestly it doesn’t really improve sound. The only reason I had them was because the bottom and top housing made this awful crunching sound.
@@hardwareabstraction Judging from the video the QK65 has more flex than my Bakeneko65, actually (though with the bakeneko65, the whole plate/pcb assembly moves, unlike the QK65 where it is "anchored" to the sides of the case). Adding polyfil definitely helped it have more flex (maybe even more than your QK65), but it made the plate slanted and uneven and I didn't like the look it, so I ended up removing it (which had little impact on sound). Maybe if they added some flex cuts it would be way better. Also, judging from other reviewers, the QK65 has much higher build quality and more weight/heft to it, which I would have preferred. -Plus it seems to have a sound signature I would have preferred more, and I have almost the same parts that you have (U4ts, and even the same keycaps).- (Just tried tape modding, and wow. I think I stand corrected.) Definitely still really like the bakeneko though! (Oh, and not to mention that the QK65 would've taken way longer to ship to me in America too.) By the way, I have a video on my channel of the keyboard in case you would like to see my bakeneko (it has the polyfil though, which again I removed)
Hm how is the typing experience with pom plate and a tactile switch. Ive heard many people saying that pom and pc plate only go well with linears, and stiffer plates (like fr4 or brass) pair with tactiles
I think at the end of the day it's just up to personal preference. I think a stiffer plate in some respect gives more tactility because its a harder more rigid surface the switch is supported from. By using something flexy there is a perceived loss of tactility, but all in all I can still feel the tactility and I actually prefer a bit of a softer typing experience.
Honestly they're fine stock. But I just personally like lubing my switches because I figured I already spent so much money and time building it, I might as well not be lazy. But obviously with lube, they sound deeper and are smoother.
I was thinking of maybe giving this a try too, but some things to note is that the the grooves for the bottom chassis of the keybored for the socks/jackets are shallow as it is so you might have some trouble adding poron in those places. Doesn't hurt to try though, let me know so let me know how it works out if you ever end up doing it!

@@hardwareabstraction nice! You should try making one out of actual pe foam because that foam is technically poron, but people call it pe foam for ease of calling. I do think that actual pe foam is better than the poron foam they give you

@@hardwareabstraction just to check in the description you say not silicon foam so you didnt use the massive block of silicone they provide but instead used regular case foam like eva foam?

@@hardwareabstraction im pretty sure it would be a louder sound then the pom one, if you watch keyboreds vid on the 40 keeb he does something with science to show where everything is in scale of stiffness and sound profile

It feels pretty good! If you're used to a more bouncy experience though, this board might feel a little stiff, which is the only gripe I have with this board.
well done, this might be one of the best sounding qk65s i've heard
