  • For over a decade Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway has continued to improve its product both on and off track thanks to private investment.
Since the recent closure of the also privately-owned Archerfield Speedway in the Brisbane region, 'Tbar' has become the state's premier speedway.
But in order to live up to the standard that is expected of both race fans and competitors, the facility will need extra funding.
In this video, Toby highlights how awesome HTOTS already is whilst also pondering how it can improve.

The entry road is a true disgrace, I have to travel from Ipswich to attend Toowoomba Speedway which is about 1 1/2 hr drive depending traffic. Some government assistants would truly help Toowoomba Speedway and the local council need a real kick in pants for not being on the front foot working with the Speedway to get more people like myself from out town to the Speedway.

First off, Toowoomba is doing great at the moment due to Archerfield closing. I raced back when the track was run by the sedan club. The track was 4 degrees of banking. It produced great racing as it come down to driver and setup, the wind would pick up and pick up car going into turn 3. Don't get me wrong, the track is great and how it is, is great for the sport. I raced the track after woodsy put the banking in, and it was awesome. But there needs to be a race track in Brisbane just like Eastern Creek Raceway in Sydney.
Start putting your effort into getting the support of a racetrack in Brisbane, so a capital city has a racetrack, just like Sydney.

Definitely noticed the lighting is poor! The road is stuffed but how many people choose to sit in the blue seats.... I think people would prefer to bring their own chairs

Let’s hope the council takes notice of this vid. When it comes to the seating, the vid is more pointing out that the venue capacity is 5000 and should be double - seating or no seating.

Does anyone have any gossip on what’s doing with the potential replacement of Archerfield speedway?
Last I heard is that they were looking around yatala/stapylton (Southside of Brisbane/midway between Gold Coast & Brisbane)!
From Brisbane & have Been to t/bar a few times since Archerfield closed but having to pay for accommodation a few hundred a night kinda gets overwhelming & have to allocate near $800-$1k for a weekend to watch sprintcars when they are on at t/bar!

What's wrong with building a hill, doesn't it only hold 2k?,Parramatta had the best hill! .spectators are 2nd class citizens at speedway tracks

Road into track is terrible, toilets could do with an upgrade and maybe a tap or 2 with drinkable water...we stayed in tbar for the red hot summer shootout, beautiful town, locals seemed friendly and the racing was top notch, couldn't ask for more IMO...

Toowoomba is a beautiful town and the track has so much potential. Luckily the promoters are doing so much to squeeze the most out of it. Hopefully the local council can see this vid and see that it’s worth investing in.

Keep it up Toby, lets hope T Bar gets the support it needs.
Being in Sydney and going to the new track I was impressed by the venue. Apart from being a little worried on how close the seating is on the front straight to the track the parking is problematic.
Looking around the crowd I couldn’t help but notice the average ages of the people there. Its apparent the closest carpark is very small and fills quickly.
A big proportion of those at the track were older patrons and with the car park filling quickly those unable to get a close spot have to walk down and up a fairly long route to the entrance gate.
Im not sure how to tackle this obvious problem, maybe a shuttle or shuttles in the form mini buses running. I had an elderly person in my car and had a bit of an argument to be able to drop that person off at the gate before going to park the car. Then he was left alone standing for a period alone until I could get back. I myself is no spring chicken and I struggled to make the walk. Im not that old but suffer health issues.
Im not going to drop names but both of us are ex retired race drivers.

Fix the entry road Toowoomba Regional Council!!! The city gets so much benefit from the Speedway, it's the least you can do to invest in the place. Great job to everyone at Hi Tec Oils Speedway for the track and facilities so far. Now to improve the lighting (needs to be on the track and not on the outside of the catch fence as it catches the light and makes it harder to see through the fence to the track...) Also some better seating around the track and improved facilities would certainly improve spectator comfort levels! Great job highlighting this Toby.👍😃🏁

Councils are struggling to maintain what they have let alone invest into assets that aren't theirs. The road in is a prime example of this.
Best thing that can be done is for the owners and the TBar team to build a relationship with the Council, not just the Councillors but to officers as well. Show them the impact it is having for the community and that will get them interested.
The TBar team also need to be working at the State and Federal Government level and with their local politicians to source any grants or support for the improvements, again show the economic impact it is having.
Build relationships, ask questions, listen to responses, dont demand or get frustrated, stay positive and more often than not Council Officers will see how they can work the angles to get support and funding.
This video is also a great tool to send to Councillors and Politicians, great work Toby.

The contribution to the local economy is massive, council needs to get on board and support it to take it to the next level- huge opportunity, just need a council with some forward thinking to get behind it. Step 1- fix the road, toilets and lighting!

Yep, that was the idea for the vid. Crazy to think how good it already is and with some worthwhile backing by the local council it could be even better. Ball is in their court.

So thankful that the facility upgraded the, 'facilities'...
After a bad meal during the day I used the facilities 5+ during the arvo and night. If that was ANY other speedway I would have just got in my car and went home. No way I'm dropping strides in the local mensrooms. Thanks Barry.

Be nice if a certain city in South West WA could realise how much of an asset its speedway could be to the wider community & actually invest in bringing it back up to a good standard before the entire MTSS ends up running all rounds at the plex

Ngl Australia has good sprint car racing but dose not have the best sprint car drivers the best sprint car drivers in the world is the world of outlaw drivers Brad Sweet Rico Abrew ect.. They came to one of the Australia tracks and they dominated there. And they won. three world of outlaws drivers went to one Australian track and competed top level and all three world of outlaws drivers in the US finish first second and third the sprint car capital of the world, Knoxville Raceway, USA,

I've watched the Archerfield boys beat the American guys night in and night out for years. Donny Schatz was the only exception to this but even he lost several times to Luke Oldfield in feature races over the years. He'd regularly come over with a couple of other WoO guys and spend a couple of months racing at Archerfield every year. He hadn't been back since the 2019/2020 season though. The covid travel bans made it impossible for a couple of years and they never picked it back up afterwards :(
