But when I accelete it sounds like this. No check engine lights. Starts up no problem so we will see if this fixes it!

    When I first start it in the morning, the oil pressure is fine but after the engine heats heated up and about 10 minutes of driving I hear a heavy rattle in the motor...this only happens upon any type of acceleration from a stop light or even accelerating on the highway, or street, even light acceleration. it is a content issue from that point forward, until the motor is stopped and given time for the time to cool down... Also after the engine heats up, the oil pressure drops somewhat..., also when I first start the cooled engine, I notice a heavy blue smoke from the tail pipe, this only lasts for a few seconds and then no more smoke... It has about 160,000 miles.

      The engine noise and smoke are probably not related. You may have excessive bearing clearances or worn main or rod bearings. hen the oil is cold it is somewhat thicker and will help quiet down a bearing knock. This would also account for the low oil pressure. You should have it assessed by a mechanic as this is quite serious if that's whats going on. The smoke is likely due to worn valve guides and or valve seals. goodluck

    Yep. Same thing my 06 Silverado. I can hear it even at idle but only if I stick my head in the passenger wheel well while the truck is in the garage. In other words, it needs to be quiet to hear it at idle. This is how it happened to me: The other day I was driving it around with the windows down and thought it was a front shock bushing squeaking. Didn't think much about it. A few weeks later, I go to start the truck and get only a click. I tried it 3 more times and it fired up. Got it home, shut it off, same thing. Click. Eventually, it fired up again. The battery is 5 years old so I swap it out. Truck starts fine. I figured good, no big deal. Later that evening, same day I put the battery in, I start it up and I hear tht noise ticking or tinging, and when I raise the RPM, it really sings an interesting bird chirping tune. Very random, squeak and ticking noise from the passenger side, low near the ground. Right about where the starter is. So here I am.. got a starter coming in a day or two and will replace it. Hopefully there's no damage on the flexplate teeth. I'll check it out the best I can and go from there. Vehicle: 06 Silverado 4.8 2wd extended cab LT. 125,000 miles. Original starter.
    Thanks for the video.

      @shmeed_tcg9787 no gas to the engine won't make it knock. It will loose power and possibly stall but it should no knock. You need to start with a scan of all the modules to see what codes it reports, refer to code diagnosis. Also need to monitor data in the ecm while the condition is occurring to see if it's starving for fuel, running lean or rich. Check for induction leaks, skewed O2 sensors etc.

    • @PhillipBailey
      @PhillipBailey  2 года назад

      If it rattles when stationary then it should be easy to locate I would think. Lots of possibilities exist for rattles. Heat shields on exhaust manifolds, converters etc. Broken loose substrate inside a catalytic converter. Try tapping on exhaust components with the truck not running with a rubber hammer.

    • @jedarramorriss7064
      @jedarramorriss7064 Год назад

      I think you might have just solved my problems with that sentence. I have had that noise for a while now, and I started to get knock sensor codes even after replacing them with the new wiring harness, and now my 2000 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 LS just started acting like it was out of timing and is making a new weird noise on the bottom end of the engine. The damage MAY already be done to the engine and I'll have to fix it, but I'll be so pissed if all of this was because of the bindex on the flexplate 😅 I'm going out in a few hours when it's not so freaking hot out to change the oil and replace the belt tensioner, so I'll remove the starter then and check it out.
      I'll try to remember to update this when I find out.
