This is late, but I rebuilt the 4500 in my 03 common rail with ebay parts. New style main shaft to fix 5th and new synchros 60k miles ago. Extreme horse tune the whole time. Rebuilt it in my dirty garage
I dislike that when you wish to use tools and they need to be fixed. Hope you are able to fix them and continue with the swap. I’m also looking for a 12 valve in my part of the world.
You be sure To Drop off a # INVOICE to that Dealership ". And To The MFG " If they refuse payment on invoice " you got a good chance in court " Not good for MFG because millions of people have access to this video " IF I were them id be wanting to pay the invoice just to" settle the Dust "
Put the 6speed in the 12valve I love my nv5600 on my 01 they way the ratios are split over the ratios of the nv4500 make a world of difference in driveability in my opinion
This is the exact reason I want to swap my NV4500 for a 6 speed. From 3-4 & 4-5 there's just so much gap, that it makes hauling up any significant grade cumbersome
Not much today is put together to resist what I call normal use. I too fix everything I can myself. At least when I get done I know I can use whatever it is. Current project, 1970 60 HP Johnson Outboard. Some folks "helped" out a young man who had gotten it as a gift from his Father In Law. I find something they messed up, order parts, wait, install, find the next screwup. I think I have the last one fixed. Started it on the hose and my neighbor came right over and said that I got it running on all three cylinders. He could hear the difference from the other day. Good luck with the new trailer. Hopefully DT wants to preserve their reputation.
You can replace the ball bearing under the transmission jack's pressure relief screw, that should make it seal up correctly. Your uncle probably tightened that screw too hard and damaged the ball bearing, that is REALLY common. You might want to get an air over hydraulic ram for your engine hoist, if you have ready access to air. It makes it a lot easier to lift the arm over a long range, instead of fiddling with the jack handle forever. You might also want to put a spigot handle on the ram pressure relief screw (you have to file and tap the jack pressure relief screw), it gives you much better control when lowering an engine/trans into an engine bay.
the NV4500 is stronger than the NV5600. I thought since the H.O. model 24 valve had a 6 six speed (NV5600) that the transmission was better than the NV4500. I've also read that putting the NV5600 clutch and the input shaft on the NV4500 will make the 5 speed even stronger
Yeah I work for a company that rebuilds white fed ex trucks but not all of them are fed ex trucks there can be bread trucks and other white trucks and we get alot of trucks from California and 90% of them have Cummins mostly 5.9 24v but there are some 12v in there too
Lol, ol Hobart wire feed, I have one of those, its really a Miller knock off, and then I have a Miller stick welder/ generator, gas powered, that I use out on the job, if I cant get it back to the shop. Looks like VBelt has learned like I have, its cheaper and faster and better to do it yourself than to hire it done. Trying to hire welding done is both expencive and time cosuming, ive never regreted buy my welders and I use them all the time. Really enjoy the videos, you guys seem to have a lot of similar situations out there, that we do around here.
PJ and Big Tex were great trailers when they were individually owned. Every since they were bought by the same big corporation, the quality has gone to hell in a hand basket. That's what happens when you value profits over quality.
agreed, my god father owns 2 one from pre buyout and one from post... its despicable in the difference between the quality of metal and welds from old to new.
Pj.and load trail trailers are garbage. I bought a new dump trailer. The cross members were not welded to the frame. It was just a floating weld. I brought it back they told me it was from over loading it... I rewelded all the cross members. Minsota trailer is the way to go. Thanks for the video!
If you need to rebuild an nv4500, get the brass synchro kit so you can run regular fluid vs dodge unicorn tears. $10-$14 a quart is better than giving Chrysler a single penny.
Would you be will to trade me the cup holder insert for the 2WD floor console and I’ll send you the whole floor console with the 4x4 shift boot? I can’t find I e anywhere for my 2WD. I just need that cup holder insert piece.
i saw Arthur this afternoon on i5 near woodland...that diamond C trailer he has looks BEAST!! also his ford is sweet too! he passed me and a big rig ...ol boy was moving!!!! keep up the great work sam!!!
Theres 2 styles. Round top and the square top. They also changed the ratios in the nv4500. All were done in 98. Not really a fan of the nv4500 or the 5600. Good quality parts are almost non exsistant.
Hey I'm trying to do a nv4500 swap on a 24v but my nv4500 is missing the bellhousing clutch forks and everything on the input shaft please any help would be appreciated
I have a 93 dodge 4x4 auto. I would like to put in a g56 manual. Would I be in for trouble if I get a electric transfer shift, or would it be simple to change it to manual if needed. Thanks for your videos.
It's almost a year but I am currently doing a 47re to g 56 swap into my sons 2001 3500 4x4 duelly and would like to know how you did the clutch (O.E.M. parts or aftermarket flywheel and clutch conversion kit) thanks for the great vids. I just need to git er done because I'm wantin to fishin.
I've watched a video..a 5.9 hooked up to a eaton fuller 6 speed manual..how difficult would that swap be. I also watched another video. A 5.9 hooked up to a allison 1000 automatic transmission ( Caconversions.com)
I say keep the ‘98 the way it is other than the small things you said you were gonna do to it. And then I’d six speed swap the ‘97. That’s just me though
Yea man the dove tail is the way to go they are tough trailers but hey I mean we all gotta start some were.......you can’t allways start with the best sometimes you gotta work your way up to the best stuff

I have a little story some of you guys may enjoy. We have a local company that builds trailers. I’ve never used one, but my brother used to work there, they seemed ok. Well, I sell tires. Come to find out, the mechanic at the trailer shop is telling everyone that 14 ply trailer tires (the ST235/85R16, not the commercial grade 17.5’s or anything like that) are bending the spindles. Built too heavy and not enough cushion. It has nothing to do with the cheap Chinese steel he’s using. I know I won’t be wasting my time with anything from them.
What size trailers? Chinese metal isnt going to be different than any other metal you can buy. Especially if we are talking about carbon steel. Anyhow, its simply a design flaw or misuse of the trailers. Not once have I seen a trailer that is used by a tradesman/ laborer that is not treated like dog shit. If youre sheering studs off then its because theyre being overloaded. Simple as that. is he following the basic 60/40 rule?
Damn that’s shitty mines been great but the only thing I noticed is it dosent line itself up for 3rd, when I get 2nd to third I kinda have to find third myself where my factory one would just fall right into third but that’s been it maybe I got an “ok” one
Allstate gear fucking sucks I had a 4500 from them that sucked!!! Come to find out they installed a bearing backwards that’s y at 8k miles it locked up
Really enjoy your videos but Man that music is kinda shockingly loud from the video audio. Just saying. Watching at night and then the music wakes up the dog. LOL
idk why I turn down the music volume so much its quieter than my voice according to the sound graph on the computer. ill keep working on it thanks for watching
Ramps look good, can’t wait to see the new trailer. V-belt did a heck of a job with the welding.
I like that old Ford. I was talking with my brother and we both subscribed the same day, before you had 300 subs. Still here and enjoying content.
Jay G hell yeah man! I remember you from back then! One of the originals! Greatly appreciate it! Was that you that started up an Instagram?
Yeah that's me. Also I'll donate a front driveline for a nv4500 if your in need

That old Ford is a beauty

I came here for 12 valve 5 and 6 speed tech and I'm learning about trailer ramps. Scratches head.
Dozen other videos on the swaps. Watch those ;)

it aint a knock off. Theyre functionaly identical. Hobart is simply for the layman customer

Yes sir way I heard it is a split family, 2 mouths feeding 1 stomach! Hence you saying they are together.

Amsoil makes a fluid for the 5 speed
@@gjones5153 if you use factory synchro, the Amsoil fluid allows the to deteriorate. If you switch to brass synchro, you can use the Amsoil brand.
I wanna swap a 12 valve into my 01 f350 crew cab

6 speed. Fuller 6 speed would be so cool.
David Moore 10* speed
V-BELT and SON dang they sure are heavy [700esh] the 6 speed is 350. They have a great gear spread and stupid torque rating from the get go.
Theres 2 styles. Round top and the square top. They also changed the ratios in the nv4500. All were done in 98. Not really a fan of the nv4500 or the 5600. Good quality parts are almost non exsistant.
Alan I can agree with that
Your ramps are looking good ! Nice job 👍🏻
That ford in the intro is nice i have a 77:)
If you or your dad need help welding let me know. I have my portable welder and torches on a welding rig trailer.
Don't really like the 3rd to 4th gear ratio with the cummins on the NV4500, wish there was a hd version of the M5OD which has the perfect ratios
i still say paint the truck red but silver is a nice color. goodluck with those transmission. also v-belt great job on those welds.
Hey does a v10 2500 nv4500 fits into our 24v Cummins
Yea

Hey Great set-up! i Have an 080 as well and just got a NV4500 to put in my 2nd gen. Please share what type of dangle head you run on your 080. Thanx

Tony Brown yeah. I like the idea of having a back up trailer
I think I’m more excited about the 12v then you are lol. Waiting for you to start cracking into them
