I ran an older 70s Mako for years, great boat. Not perfect but built like a tank. Eventually the foam waterlogged. Looked at the newer ones, not the great build quality of the old. Many short cuts, many screws instead of through bolts. Many basics not well thought out, cleats, box drainages, though mine didnt have fish boxes. I also dont like sealed gunwhales. Quite a few areas seem like they would drain to the bilge. They certainly dont seem bad just not like the old. Though the hull design seems nice, my oldie was a pretty wet boat. I dont remember Mako having a reputation for a soft ride, just being tough enough to take the beating of the rough ride. Maybe the larger models.
Beware!! If you install a kicker motor they void your warranty!! Yet some of their advertisement shows a Mako with a kicker motor! Who would do an offshore model without the capability of adding a kicker for safety measures? I love my Mako, but thinking of selling due to them voiding warranty if I put a kicker.
What is the maximum speed and travel range of this particular model boat? lets say with a 250 Mercury Verado since that's the engine I'm looking on getting If I were to purchase this wonderful boat.
Thanks for the question. In our testing, with a light load and ideal conditions, we ran just over 50 MPH with a Mercury® 250 HP Verado. This would give a range of 200-250 miles round trip, which may vary depending on a number of factors including speed, loading, temperature, and sea conditions.

Diego kept that mutton snapper without a doubt. The fact they tried to cover it up puts their integrity into question!!
Gordon Willoughby that was a lane snapper.
