A really 'rounded' review - thanks... In my opinion, I think interior style and driving refinement trumps outright speed & performance all day long - you spend all your time inside the car anyway, plus, as long as an EV's on-the-move torque is good enough, then that's where you need it... We don't all do the traffic-light Grand Prix...! Honest... ;-)
This one was only front-wheel drive, though 4MATIC versions are now available. Wouldn't be our top pick for towing - a diesel is probably still best for the time being...
@@jake8793 Off road, big expensive bang I'm guessing there's no ground clearance and too much weight. Current batteries are too heavy and too low on energy density. Don't forget its most likely on low friction tyres as well so grip is iffy especially off road. Changing to better tyres would kill range. Non of these evs are suitable or intended. I doubt it has a wading depth so flooded roads are out as well. (Just the ev version that is) .
Good review, Merc are now coming thick and fast to the EV world, have heard that the build quality isn't quite as good as expected and a little flimsy for Mercedes inside, although looks impressive. Shame the boot size isn't really as family friendly as the rest of the car seems to be. At this price point they need to tick the luxury box as much as the practicalities box.
Thanks James. Quality is actually very good and the dash design continues to wow us even three years after the A-Class launched. It's true that it isn't as practical as some rivals though - the disadvantages of basing it on a petrol-car platform!
@@carbuyer great to hear the interior is as good as we shud expect from mercedes having not been in one myself I take Ur review on board mate. Sadly agree sometime a full from the ground EV design makes a real difference to practicality doesn't it.
The size is perfect for a couple like us, what likes to travel and I wish other car makers wouldn´t only offer large SUVs. Unfortunately the EQA has a too short range and a too slow charging speed.
Good review. But seems disappointing overall. I thought it can feel cheep in areas, and was actually rather noisy and not particularly comfortable on basic suspension. Poor luggage space. 240mi range seems overly optimistic. The biggest problem is it is quite long at 4.6m but not actually that spacious for that size. A 4m car can feel roomier.
Trackpad great on the move?? Lexus has had a trackpad for years (which is terrible) and is now only starting to introduce touchscreen and removing the trackpad. This does not make sense. Perhaps reviewers are biased towards German brands. As far as I can see they are! PS I'm a JDM fan and would never consider buying any brand from Europe!
@@carbuyer When they make one for rural use I will,be interested. Current evs are too limited, too many issues, good for the city I think. Battery weight, energy density etc. Its too early I think.
@@Beorn. Tesla’s would be okay for rural use in my opinion, what with their 500-ish mile ranges now-a-days! (edit: only the future plaid model at the mo but still, 300 on the current models is more than okay)
@@jake8793 Sorry to differ but there no ground clearance, wrong tyres and all those batteries way way too heavy. I did witness a guy in a Tesla drive onto wet grass a month ago and he had to call a tow truck to get off. I'm my opinion less range and therefore less batteries would be better.
@@Beorn. I bet land rover or maybe even range rover will make an EV soon, they will have yo at some point. Maybe then that will set a benchmark for electric off-roaders! 😏
Dull dull dull car. You'd never buy one of these over a Tesla, who are so far ahead of the pack, the established car makers have really been caught napping and it shows with this poor car.

Thanks Jonathan. For many, the interior is the most important part - as you say that's where owners spend most their time!
Is the carplay wireless?
I wonder how it is off road, but do mercedes know that people use their SUV's for towing too,
It will probably be alright offroad, but i reckon the standard GLA would be better due to its smaller weight

Good review. Like that Merc.
Thanks Andrew. Glad you liked it!
Rather dumpy design, doesn't match the atrocities being signed off by BMW of late, but still pretty poor.

Silly not to take advantage of the less complex and smaller drive train by increasing internal space though.
Guess that's the problem when converting a petrol car to electric, rather than starting from the ground up...
Jesus it’s blobby and ugly from certain angles ! I have a normal A class 2019 and they have completely lost the sharp styling of the front with this.
i think its cute and dinky, almost like a baby glc with chubby cheeks 😂 eqc***
*Love it - but will wait until 2029/30 and pick up a used low mileage for around £8k*
Cool! It is going to be bestseller in Lika, region in Croatia, still without electric power in 21 century. By the way, fun fact Tesla is from Lika.
Lol what Tesla is an American company

Overpriced. EQA for the same price as a fairly good spec E Class. No thanks.
Completely different cars though. And if you can charge at home the EQA has the ability to save you thousands in running costs...
