Hi Ivan, Merry Christmas to you and your team. This year is the first year i didnt buy a landcruiser. I bought a hilux SR dual cab. Why? I wanted to see if i could live with the 2.8 and auto. I sold my 2020 v8 79 dual cab to do this. Couple of things i note in the new model 70 the bonnet is lightweight compared to the previous model. Its basically got the hilux safety suite, steering wheel etc. In the SR hilux the safety suite isnt intrususive ie you have to turn lane assist “on” if you want it and there are no voice commands. Which is all good. Fuel economy is 9.0/100 which is also good with a heavy duty tray dog box bull bar and side rails. So heres the conundrum- the 70 is about $20,000 more than my hilux. And what do I get? A live front axle thats still 4 inches too wide. A body fromt the windscreen back thats 1985. Strong? Yes. But I dont work in the mines (the 2.8 was a request by one of our leading mining companies). I also had a 300 last year and got out of ut at 15,000km. I think toyota are taking the piss out of us. The 70 4cyl is a mess under the bonnet too do i like the hilux? Yes, and it will take a lot of convincing for me to buy a 70 again. Sad after 5 V8s, 3 6cyl numerous 100,a 200 and a troopie. Youncan see my landcruiser line up in my profile! Keep up the great vids.
you dead right on toyota taking the piss..... nothing changed body wise A pillar back, still terrible seating, offset steering wheel.. the 2.8 is fine. front to rear track is still an absolute joke..... the price is wrong......look at the intercooler...what a joke.....a hilux is a way better choice they too are still $20k more than they should be.... but they keep paying it... soooo
@@livoverall4752 i agree. Im gunna wait. The 300 is a dissapointment. Lets see how the 70 goes with some of the u tubers eg mods, canning, towing. In the mean time im just going to enjoy all the cup holders in the hilux lol👍👍👍
Why didn't Toyota fix the different track widths between the front and rear axles? Very happy that DEF (Adblue) isn't required, yet, for Australian 70 Series. And really happy they retained the rear tail lights flanking the rear doors, and not the poxy body coloured covers, and bumper mounted indicators and stop lights which the overseas markets make do with.
Hi mate. The new hilux has the same kw and torque as the new 4 cyl 70. At 150kw and the rovue is 165. Having said that, i find the v8 70s ive had deliver the torque “better” which gives the feeling of more power. The new 70 has a wet intercooler as opposed to the hilux being just air. That may make it snappier in the delivery. Best 70 ive ever had? 2006 6 cyl factory turbo. The last 70 i had (in profile pic) was a 2020 and was drinking fuel at 16 per hundred. None of my other v8s did that unless they were towing the float. My 300 was 9.1/100 hilux 9/100. Plus!!! Ive got 4, yes 4! Cup holders and a bottle holder in each door 🤪 toyota will give me a 4 cyl 70 to test in new year. Merry Christmas
yes yes and yes ...wait till the tuners and auto guys get there teeth into this ...and so much easier for room than the v8..minus that wonderful sound of that grunty v8😎
Can you please educate me on what this means because I heard someone else mention this shaking. I’ve driven one of the new ones and really enjoyed it, but didn’t notice that. Cheers
Im experimenting with a hilux to see if inlike the 2.8 and auto. Always had landcruisers including a genuine 1979 fj45 (see profile), the hilux gets a “buzz” at around 2000rpm. The gearbox modulation in eco mode is poor ie it wants to get to 5/6 but wont hang on. Much better in pwr mode . Will i buy a 70? Not yet. I need a lot of convincing
@@simonhjc I’ve test drove a new 70 and it definitely has a lot more power than my mates current hilux. I have a 2019 hilux and there’s even more of a noticeable difference compared to that. I owned a 2020 troopy and I thoroughly enjoyed the new 70. Felt a lot better, and of course it gave me that experience with the new auto
3 years to design some new engine mounts, inserts to lift the bonnet and guards and some drl’s?? More like 3 days before production! Ps note i am a owner of brand new 79 Though 2023. Would have been good if Toyota actually employed and produced a actual update to the 70 series Not just skinned the cat different so to speak.
Before this model the 70 series attracted a certain market of buyers ( anyone who didn't want a prado). Its gonna take some getting used to seeing soccer mums picking their kids in this thing 🤦
We had 4 cylinder 78 series in the 90s in the UK they Rubbish Couldn't hold a candle to the in line 6 Or the V8 Which wasn't available in the UK As a used 4x4 dealer I had my fair share of 70 series In the early 2000 They was early 90s All 4 cylinders Sub 200000 miles on the clock And their engines were tired Couldn't get out of They're OWN way never mind Paul 3.5 tonnes Then I bought an 80 series manual 24 valve inline 6 That's when I realized why Toyota had such a good reputation That engine was available in Australia in the 70 series we got the Diet Coke version in the UK Now Australia has the Diet Coke version 2 History has A reputation of repeating bad mistakes

Its the beginning of the nissan 3 litre
Did you notice the rear seats 60/40 split now (not the bench for the dog)
Love the front
No I didn't notice well done on spotting that... that will make a difference for internal options

And also the lap only seatbelt for the center position is now lap/sash belt.

The downside of the hilux is they are built in Thailand unlike the 300 or the 70 series

Because its Toyota ! and we will still buy it ! just be thankful we still got something robust and roomy in 2024!
@@ivanbiscan1587they fixed it for the china market . And the price is around 60K aud for the 2.8
Can a new Nissan Patrol (single & double cab) beat this land cruiser?
Are they running same platform as before? or the new one is TNGA-F?

💯 I can’t believe ppl are saying this is more comfortable than a Hilux
Will there be a manual version?
I hope so, but probably unlikely.
The bonnet is heavy, can you stand on it?
Of course its a Toyota !😀
I wouldn't say its the first time a LC70 received an auto. I drove a JDM fiber top 2 door turbo 4 automatic trans equipped land cruiser from the 80s.
The engine doesn’t have balance shaft ? 🤯🤯😳 it shakes aggressively
Its also short two cylinders ! but the plus is the auto ....long time coming
