Hey William - I hope you've made a tonne of progress since you viewed this video over a year ago! Just letting you know I'm back to making videos so if there is something you need help with I'd love to make a video addressing it. - Cheers Michael
I recommend that you treat your guitar as if it is still in standard tuning for the purpose of learning the fretboard. You only need to think of transcribing it if you're playing along with other instruments in a different tuning.
Clickbait title. There's no secrets. You don't give any tips for memorisation. You're abusing the English language. Hopefully others will read this comment before wasting their time.
Dude! I literally teach you three practical exercises that you can use to memorise the fretboard as well as some essential music theory so that the exercises make sense and you understand what's going on at a deeper level.
In fact I did watch the whole video which is why I felt it was time wasted. Yes, there is a rudimentary piece of music theory in it but I didn't mention that. I said there are no secrets let alone three! As for tips, making up twelve mnemonics of six letters and their 22/24 vertical bands on the fretboard is not a tip. Playing every note in chromatic order up the fretboard won't help you to memorise the positions easily - it's just rote. A tip is a mechanism that facilitates the achievement of a goal in an easier way than the normal way.

Obviously Ian didn’t watch the whole video 😂, he literally gives 3 exact tips for memorization.
