Geri is an absolute legend, had the chance to do my LS1&2 training with him in Austria a couple of years back. Always thought he skiied like the Austrian version of you Reilly, edges like a beast
Hahaha, I have a pair of these as well (Atomic fun machine). First thing I realized was, that I am still leaning back way too much, I fell on my back straight away. So very good tool, to improve the right balance on your skis. Great content, keep it up!
Geri is such a troll, I've been waiting for a video with both of you for ages, and then he puts you on a snowblade and makes you fall :D Anyway, love the skiing, hope you've made some more material together;)
The best way to learn how to properly drive a racecar on track is to go out when the track is wet so the car has virtually no grip, the speeds are down 80% and thus it becomes far easier to see and feel how to get the car to grip/slide and turn with very little friction while the speeds are slow and manageable. My guess is that if you took an intermediate skier out who wanted to learn how to carv vs skid their skis, this would be the fastest way they could learn - it would probably accelerate the process 90% - just like driving in the rain on track
I will have to experiment more with them to see how they really work with crossing over to skiing but what you say makes total sense. It could work that way for sure. Interesting comment and thanks for sharing.
I need more time on them to see if they are really beneficial but it was a lot of fun. I think balance training they are good. Also practicing ski movements at slow speed which gives more time to think about things. Definitely a tool for sure. But also just a good way to pass a day in the hill with friends when the snow is bad
@@ReillyMcGlashan 👍 apparently BASI used to do a day on them as part of L2 instructor training, but dropped it. Never tried, but maybe good to encourage intermediates to stay centred? but maybe also discourages fore/aft movement through the turn?
where and how did you find those music????? you should have had a neon colored jumpsuit to go along... and I did have those short skis back in the late 80s. Big Foot was the brand we had. After skiing with these, 203cm SL skis felt like bricks on your feet.
I think if you can ski, you can do this. I think if you cant ski or never have skied I would say skiing much be easier. Not sure, never tried that way around. You don't have much for aft movement and on longer skis is saves you so beginners would be falling on their butt the whole time.
I've skied on big feet at 50cm and salmon snowblades at 99cm. Both will try and rotate your foot in a circle if you " over edge " Them. Since moving on to carving skis about 10-12 years ago , the thing the blades gave me was a narrow stance and not afraid to attack the fall line With the upper half of the body and letting the skis do the work elbow the waist . An English an with skiiing experience on the blades haha. Love your videos Reilly. Regards from the snow capped peaks of the uk
Years ago there were some ski schools in Colorado that trained this way. It went out of fashion, but it did train balance and encouraged active movement of the foot. But…. Training ain’t everything….
@@ReillyMcGlashan - lucky you. I remember the first time I telemarked. I got all set up, and slid over to the lift. I put pressure on my tips to curve around into the chair, fell flat forward onto my gob and bloodied my nose badly. Took all of 10 seconds. I felt a strong urge to shout to the dozens of people watching that "I have TROPHIES DAMNIT!" - that was a day of "personal growth".

He is a great guy and an excellent skier

It was pretty funny. There will be some more stuff when we get together at the end of the month. Unfortunately we just did this day two weeks ago.
Love it!
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
What… no big turns? :) Great tunes!
maybe next time! 😂
Great video Reilly. Those look fun! Kinda seems similar to your SkiROAD turns.
I thought they would be similar too. But I was surprised there were some similarities but also many differences.
Sure that's a cool ski training idea, but the real winner here is the music selection...A+
yes I thought the music was top notch so I had to use it!

Look like skiroad!
In another video i tell you… 2 meters or 0,5 meters… same perfection! You can master every thing and I am very envious of it 😂
Haha...what ah kick. Thanks for the smiles :)
Thought it was pretty funny so I had to share 😂 I had a good laugh all day
Fun video, thanks. Do you think it encourages good or bad movement patterns for skiing?

@@antibes2003 i do think there is some Good points to the snowblades. Just need some more time on them to discover them 🤣
Looks like you have had fun. Hard on the joints?
No it’s extremely easy on the joints as you have no speed and minimal edge angle
*Excellent* music, it fits the content well 😏

Очаровательный сюжет, Рейли!
😂
Is this easier than skiing?

They are good for a laugh and a bad snow day to get out on the hill thats for sure.

Короткие лыжи хороши только на идеальных склонах, не более.
C'mon give us some high speed GS turns on them.
