Never dont go Mexica, please dont cross mexica border. Or you can ask border police about mexico caravan travelers live terrible bad situations. Goodluck. Stay in Usa borders.
The issue with suggestions is that there are so many wonders of the world (USA) headed to the Pacific Coast it is a matter of how do you decide. Grand Canyon or Eastern Utah (several National Parks) headed to Yellowstone. Where to cross the Sierra Mountains ( the Interstate Freeway) or drop into the backside of Yosemite. Seeing Lake Tahoe for the first time is very cool as well, Or continue up through Washington state and do the Coast. A suggestion that won’t disappoint, see Monterey and Carmel by the Sea. If you find yourself wanting to go to the Coastal Redwoods from Sacramento, take Highway 20 across to Hwy 101. Clear Lake is very pretty driving along the waterfront seeing the volcano. Please be careful driving through the west since you’re going during fire season. Most states have a way for you to check if roads are closed. Watch for smoke, fire can move faster than you might expect
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but you could possibly also park over at casinos you find on the way. Just a thought so you could check it out. They have security as welll. 👍❤️
Also, the rest areas you found in states like Texas and east are far nicer than ones out west, especially California. Most people are leery of California Rest Areas during the day, along Interstate 5. Being from California I’m always surprised how nice other states rest areas are comparatively.
Loving watching your travels...started with Thailand, then hoped around a bit, then I found a way to watch all the USA ones from start to finish. Glad you found a place to stay...I have traveled the USA (or at least the lower 48 states) extensively (I'm from North of Boston) and the Southwest is particularly amazing and you guys are doing an amazing job showing it off!!! The problem with the U.S. is there is just too much to see. I've been to a lot of states multiple times and I still feel like I have just scratched the surface. Anyway, just wanted to say I love watching you guys and in particular I love Marianne's laugh and both of your sense of humor! Can't wait to see how you make out in the Pacific Northwest which has such amazing coastline, trees and mountains! I hope wherever you guys are right now you are doing well and are either planning future or currently on more adventures!!!
Awwh thank you !! We have just shipped our van from Malaysia to India !! We are filming the roads and life here - but having to stay in hotels due to the heat !! But we will continue our drive home to get the challenge completed !! Kind regards Marianne
Love how you cannot get the Turkish out of you guys. You see Turkiye loves you so much that you always find a Turkish store 😁😁 love the grilled olives and the hummus and chips- not for sharing. My husband and son are into Ozark too. Another programme on my list to watch. Glad you ended up finding somewhere to sleep in the end. Look forward to next videos xxx

After seeing the introduction, I was dreading to watch this video, not knowing what to expect. But it actually wasn't bad like I thought it would be. All in all, I'm sorry it happened. At least the police were polite and helpful, although it was an inconvenience. Happy and safe travels, and as always, I'm looking forward to the next video!

Oh, the joys, trials and tribulations of van life. You documented your search for a place to park-up well. On your way back down Route 66, you are welcome to stay on my daughter’s property where we just moved into our mobile home. Plenty of room and electrical hook up. You know how to find me. Safe travels and be well.
Some of the residents called and said your camping? You are a van, I don't see the issue. Your obviously very polite, but I don't understand how the residents got to control the police etc. I am too sensitive on your behalf or maybe I worry for my own parking he he he he . Thanks for the video. Quality filming and quality editing.
Hey, in the U.S. in most states, most Churches are fine with people staying a single night so long as you leave early depending on city ordinances. You can also try Cracker Barrels, and Ihops as those are everywhere, and have been known to allow RVs and campers. This was a lovely video, and you folks seem awesome, I wish you the best.
It is physically impossible for a southern church leader to turn you away. I once saw a preacher try to turn a family away from parking at a church- bam- lightning struck him where he was standing.
Good day! Saw the title and made my heart skip a beat! Glad it was a nice visit, and that you are both safe and sound. What an ordeal looking for a spot to park. Happy it turned to your favor! Cheers,
Saved by the lorries, yeh! I was worried you'd be driving all night. All worked out well and you had hummus for the late night munchies. How was the home made hot sauce? Good food always makes things better when the day doesn't go as planned. Take care.

Saw you parked in the mountains where you got the knock, I remembered the tread the globe RUclips channel and looked it up. Good vids by the way, I'll be following your adventure from Albuquerque (I've had 3 vehicles stolen while living here lol) Safe travels
I have been watching another camper youtuber (nomadic fanatic) to know that Walmarts are actually the best option in US for free overnight parking 😀 There are also some great paid apps for showing where all RV available overnight parking spots are including reviews from other RVers.
Thanks for the info! unfortunately not all walmarts will let you stay - they have security that move you on (in Black and Red cars) but yes there are lots of great apps - but some areas .... just don't have anywhere !! 🌷
Yes, Santa Fe is a bit of a problem when it comes to lodging. I remember when I went there in the 1990's, and the nearest Motel available during peak tourist season in the month of June was either in Las Vegas, New Mexico, or in Taos, New Mexico. So, I booked in both towns and did a day tour of Santa Fe, and lodging in Santa Fe is pretty high compared to other places as well. I have been told by friends in order to book in Santa Fe, you should do it a year in advance. I remember my Mother complaining to the Visitors Center at the Capital building in Santa Fe back then. Looks like the two of you encountered the same thing that's a surprise, that things have not improved. You should check into joining the Sam's Club for RV's, I've been told their facilities are really great, and they have Camps across America. I would caution against "Wild Camping" in the desert, it's not uncommon for people to just come up missing in the remote desert areas, you're not hiding the fact that you are from another country with you tag and decaled van, so heads up! Also if you are planning to go to the Grand Canyon, check into camp sites in advance I'm sure it's the same situation there because of tourism. Please stay safe.
it is good to hear you still have cravings for turkish food. Menemen for breakfast .....and olives ..... all that is missing is simit and cay. i must give you my humus recipe. only takes a couple minutes to make. It's delicious. . please keep it safe. lots of love from Middlesex
New to the channel came across your Irish vlogs as my partner and myself are hoping/dreaming of buying a caravan for travelling Europe . You guys living my dream I would absolutely love to tour all of American and beyond . I looking forward to watching your journey thanks for sharing. ❤️🇮🇪❤️❤️👏👏
Someone may have mentioned this already, but at 4:15 you see the park is only open from "Dawn to Dusk". Many places will have that rather than specific hours of operation. So for any foreign travelers look for those words which mean when the sun goes down, nobody is allowed in the park. Hence, no overnight camping.
There are tens, if not hundreds of acres of BLM land in NM, all you need is a Forestry Service map, it will show you where to park/camp for free in easily reached state and national forests. Most are just a few smooth dirt road miles from major roads. Enjoy your adventure!
Great video. The feet above sea level needs to be converted so the USA can understand the height above sea level. I understand it as I grew up in Australia. If you find a Trader Joe, Llydl, Aldi or out of the usual. You can find hummus and good olives
Hummus is easy to make if you have a small food processor. Canned garbanzos are available everywhere and if you’ve got garlic, olive oil and tahini your in business! I add smoked paprika sprinkle on mine.
The knock! Oh no! So Glad that you guys are enjoying the states. You really don’t know where to park sometimes. I love some good homemade hot Sauce! Beautiful driving!
Just came across your channel and subscribed ❣️ the track you saw in the mud was likely from a large dog or coyote ☺️ Sad about the fires. Sorry it was hard to find places to park overnight.
I’m not sure where you are currently but I have space for you to “park up” at my house and I live close to the Oregon coast!! I have been watching you guys since I was in turkey last. My husband and I use to own a motor home and traveled in it. So naturally I fell in love with your channel! Give me a buzz if you come this way and need a place to park!!
When driving across the prairies look out for prairie dogs- kind of a gopher or marmot that pops in and out of their lairs to watch for predators. You used to be able to see hundred across Texas and New Mexico.
Would have been awesome if you knew Nate and Shannon of Element Life (formally Element Van Life). They are vanlifers with land about an hour from Santa Fe and seem like really nice people. Also, auto stores sell locks that attaches to the brake pedal or clutch (since your van is a manual) so someone can't start your car and drive off. Anyway, loving your travels! Looking forward to more content!
Fantastic tip !! We will be back in SF in the fall - so we might cross paths .... this has been an unexpected and serendipitous time for us here - so who knows !! woo hoo
Oh man bummer. I heard your accent's and I'm like cool get some scenery that's NOT in the US.. but then I looked at your playlist they all seem to be in the u.s....lol I subscribed anyway. Thanks for sharing and safe and happy travels p.s. Looks like a wolf or more than likely a mountain lion footprint to me. They're pretty big! You can stay at Cracker Barrels for free. You could always pull in the motel parking Lot too. The diesel truck gas stations you can stay at those overnight too. They usually have pretty nice private showers too they don't cost that much. I don't know if you're already in Colorado I'm originally from there. That's going to be a whole lot of private land. I hope you can find places to camp there!
Hi you know what Chris Maryann going to be the first women to complate driving around the world you know that , I wish you both healthy life and blessing as always keep it up good videos Mr
No bears BUT if a rattlesnake tags you, it is a long way to get help. The venom works pretty fast. Need to keep your eyes to the ground around you and less on your lens. Your next video may be of your final hospital trip.
You are adventurous and it is a lot of fun following your travels. But do be careful. For all the spacious beauty you are experiencing, there also can be crime in the remote areas. New Mexico doesn’t have the best crime statistics….
I believe the animal track is a coyote or some other canine…could be someone had their pet out for a run. Bear tracks are MUCH larger and have 5 toes. Route 66 ran from Chicago to LA…through downtown Albuquerque….I was stationed at Kirkland AFB in 1993. The ballon fest is is AWESOME! The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is a worthwhile and interesting visit. Happy and safe travels. Cheers
Thanks for the tips - due to the fires they closed all the car parks and there is no cracker barrel - but that is super helpful about the bass pro shop - I will check that out ! M 🌺
At 5:15 MaryAnn was sitting on the bed and before you thru the chips I thought it was going to get real interesting. Then you thru the chips and hummus, which I eat all the time. Great video! Glad your enjoying the USA. I really enjoyed the UK when I was in the Army in 1990.

@@TREADtheglobe exactly ! Thank you ever so much ❤️ we are finding it hard to get subscribers and likes but I guess we’re making memories at the end of the day and that’s what matters to us the most ❤️❤️
I think the first 1000 were the hardest - it took about a year of making 2-3 videos a week and Chris worked soooo hard !! But each video got better and better, and he is still criticising his videos and trying to improve - he has signed up to another course about filming !! But after about 2 years we earned our first coffee money from RUclips and we sat on a pavement in Guatemala sharing our first coffee and laughed as we really had (and still learning) no idea what we were doing ! Having fun is the hardest part as you can feel social pressure to 'perform' but it was one of our kids that told us - you are making your memories and sharing your adventures and the people who are like you will want to come along ... and after more then 500 videos we have found our rhythm and pace and know that we are living our best lives - even if we are working more hours than we did before - we are choosing our office location and hours that we work - Keep going !! You have got this 🚐🌷🙌 M xx
@@TREADtheglobe that is so sweet of you thank you ever so much ! It means a lot that you have confidence in us to do something similar ! We’re not travelling until next year however we would love to put some tread the globe stickers on our suitcases is there somewhere we can order online for these? I will of course mention you in our future videos for all the kind words you have said :) Here’s to one day being as successful as you are and having a coffee in a street somewhere as exotic unlike our current location of Cleethorpes we’re our recordings are mostly based haha. Looking forward to your next video C and M lots of love ❤️ cara and rich xx
come visit me in baja mexico. From 70 in Colorado West, theres a ring of Natl parks in Utah, south of MOAB. Arches, Canyonland, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Bears ears, and Escalante. Theres a 2 lane Mt road scenic byway the tourizt info sent me on. Darkest place in the world. You can sleep in Colorsdo at rest areas
We are limited to Roads, streets, stores and public buildings, parks, and some beaches. it's even Very claustrophobic when you realize this. For instance: 12:56. You have a few meters of road. Not even think about going anywhere else. You can watch. For now. People look around and act like all they see is theirs when the truth is they can't set foot on about any place and only have access to a very very limited space. I repeat: people only have access to a very very limited free space. And much, much less with a Van.
Oh…the sign actually says”Camping Prohibited” where you spent the night and were checked by the police. I’ve found places like Bass Pro Shop or Cabela’s Sporting Goods will allow for overnight stays. I have a large truck camper on a GMC 3500HD dually. Spent 2 years at a remote site in Balikesir TU while in the US AirForce. Friggin LOVED every minute in that country. Happy travels. Cheers
When my van is completed, I also plan to drive Route 66 from Springfield, IL to the Grand Canyon. Maybe I'll run into you if we're on it at the same time! I don't have a start date yet, but it would be nice to do it by my birthday because I was born on Thanksgiving, so the more northern roads likely won't be icy yet, and hopefully Arizona won't bake me alive. I would love to stay in touch and see if we can't drive a leg of the road together. I plan to stop in Oklahoma somewhere and stay a night in my friend's driveway in New Mexico. Albuquerque is one of my top favorite cities. If I were to move anywhere it is likely there. Beautiful weather, scenery, and people.
Sorry that you had a tough time finding somewhere legit to park. At least you didn’t encounter a hungry bear at that roadside stop. On that subject, the bear essentials of van life include being able to have permissible places to park…oh, and not to run into a hungry bear 🐻
If it's any consolation your home country wild camping opportunities have virtually disappeared since covid. Dartmoor now covered in signage, Cornwall has security vans everywhere, Wales signs and bollards. There's little good will to vans anymore and for the first time in 30 years I now look for a campsite first before moving on. Sad times.
Look into that membership for staying at wineries and farm stands if you don’t have one. I thought you did, but maybe the Travelling Beans have it? I think you pay a small fee and get a credit for their goods or have to buy a certain amount… heard about it in Kara & Nate. Called Harvest Hosts.
Thanks Cindland - yep we have it and it also has boondocking welcome - roam free - campendium, Ioverlander - but we sometimes just can't find a spot - we have heard / seen that some of the BLM (Bureau of land management) land is also closing or now charing to park on public land ... this is apparently due to people living in their cars / RVs full time and not leaving before the maximum 14 day allowance ... It is very tricky stuff - kind regards and thanks for the tips - Marianne 🌺😘

I love the thumbnail pic of you it makes me smile :-) xxx
Thanks Rebeckah !! We had fun making it
it is good to hear you still have cravings for turkish food. Menemen for breakfast .....and olives ..... all that is missing is simit and cay.
i must give you my humus recipe. only takes a couple minutes to make. It's delicious. . please keep it safe. lots of love from Middlesex
Oh thank you friend - that would be fabulous .... we must catch up and have a chat soon - love Marianne xx
New to the channel came across your Irish vlogs as my partner and myself are hoping/dreaming of buying a caravan for travelling Europe . You guys living my dream I would absolutely love to tour all of American and beyond . I looking forward to watching your journey thanks for sharing. ❤️🇮🇪❤️❤️👏👏
Welcome aboard! And thanks ! We hope you get to enjoy your travels too - Just a fabulous way to travel for sure 💚🙌🚐💜
New subscriber and a big fan already!!! keep it up, your both are an inspiration for us and hope to do what you're doing!!!
Thanks Jorge 🌺
So true! But we loved the fact they gave us a badge for Trudy !! woo hoo - love m xx
Just came across your channel and subscribed ❣️ the track you saw in the mud was likely from a large dog or coyote ☺️ Sad about the fires. Sorry it was hard to find places to park overnight.
Awesome thank you and welcome 🌺
I’m not sure where you are currently but I have space for you to “park up” at my house and I live close to the Oregon coast!! I have been watching you guys since I was in turkey last. My husband and I use to own a motor home and traveled in it. So naturally I fell in love with your channel! Give me a buzz if you come this way and need a place to park!!
Aww thanks Gianna - DM and if we are passing we will pop in for coffee !
Amerika da bile Türk lezzetleri aranıyor 🇹🇷❤️
The weather looks great in new Mexico
Shout out to CONNECT PLUS - Turkish hospitality following you to the USA ! Hope the parking gets easier .
Thank you Lesley - yes they are fabulous !!
Yes, i enjoyed watching your video.
When driving across the prairies look out for prairie dogs- kind of a gopher or marmot that pops in and out of their lairs to watch for predators. You used to be able to see hundred across Texas and New Mexico.
Yep - they are fabulous !!
Hi and thanks for the sub - we have over 500 videos and did a fabulous series in Central America and Turkiye - so we hope you like those too 🌺
@@TREADtheglobe I'll definitely have to check those out for sure. Thanks safe and happy travels
Your next video may be of your final hospital trip.
im with u guys turkish greek indian food fantastic enjoying yr travels
God Bless you guys in your travels....
marrianne and chris eline emeğine sağlık bu güzel vlog için kolay gelsin hayırlı işler.....👍👍👍👍
Çok teşekkürler
Never a dull moment hey!
LOL !! You betcha !!
You are adventurous and it is a lot of fun following your travels. But do be careful. For all the spacious beauty you are experiencing, there also can be crime in the remote areas. New Mexico doesn’t have the best crime statistics….
Thanks Bella 🌺
I believe the animal track is a coyote or some other canine…could be someone had their pet out for a run. Bear tracks are MUCH larger and have 5 toes. Route 66 ran from Chicago to LA…through downtown Albuquerque….I was stationed at Kirkland AFB in 1993. The ballon fest is is AWESOME! The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is a worthwhile and interesting visit. Happy and safe travels. Cheers
You can stay overnight at Cracker Barrels and Bass Pro Shops
Thanks for the tips - due to the fires they closed all the car parks and there is no cracker barrel - but that is super helpful about the bass pro shop - I will check that out ! M 🌺
At 5:15 MaryAnn was sitting on the bed and before you thru the chips I thought it was going to get real interesting. Then you thru the chips and hummus, which I eat all the time. Great video! Glad your enjoying the USA. I really enjoyed the UK when I was in the Army in 1990.
oh what lovely cops! I was beginning to worry a bit towards the end as you did look so tired
Turkish shop in new Mexico with a Man Utd supporter behind the counter 😃
LOL !! Yep - we struck gold !! woo hoo 😂🙏
Hi Guys, just watching your latest instalment. Your like the travel version of crack cocaine. Totally addictive. Unfortunately l have just been diagnosed with stage stage 4 lung cancer. So more than ever you have becomeof an integral part of my lfe. Keep up the amazing work. Your keeping a ill man going. That's the positive effect your having on people. Heart felt thanks.
Hi Miles - thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words - and we are delighted to have you with us - sending love and hugs from us in Trudy 🌺🚐😘 Marianne and Chris xx
Another great video! you have inspired us to take the travel plunge and record our adventures! thank you so much !
Woo Hoo !! Do it - your memories will be there and you can enjoy them forever 🌺
I will of course mention you in our future videos for all the kind words you have said :)
Here’s to one day being as successful as you are and having a coffee in a street somewhere as exotic unlike our current location of Cleethorpes we’re our recordings are mostly based haha.
That hot sauce looks incredible 😊 you find the best people
The best!
Cheers
Well spotted - we didn't see it !! We love Turkey too and will be back ...
I think everyone loves the british ( refering to your chat with the police lol) Your wife reminds me of Elizabeth taylor lol Great video thank you
When my van is completed, I also plan to drive Route 66 from Springfield, IL to the Grand Canyon.
Found it finally
Take Route 66 to Michigan and thats where you'll find me! Safe travels!
Thanks Tammy
Love you guys.
Sorry that you had a tough time finding somewhere legit to park. At least you didn’t encounter a hungry bear at that roadside stop. On that subject, the bear essentials of van life include being able to have permissible places to park…oh, and not to run into a hungry bear 🐻
This area of New Mexico does indeed have bears. That track you saw looked like a coyote or maybe a Red Wolf track.
Thanks for the info
Thanks my couples......Regards from İstanbul...
Thank you 🌷
Oh dear, trudy needs an undercover cover hehe!
Sad times.
Sorry about the parking! What a nightmare
These places are so beautiful and peaceful, no horror like hollywood movies 🤣🤣
Were from ABQ, we love cafe you went to
Great video xxxx
Good video guys with the sign said dawn to dusk those are only daytime hours
If you need a camping spot in central Nevada I recommend the Ruby Mountains they are very beautiful.
Thank you
Good video 👍☕️ have a nice days
Cracker Barrel restaurant is usually a great place to park
Look into that membership for staying at wineries and farm stands if you don’t have one. I thought you did, but maybe the Travelling Beans have it? I think you pay a small fee and get a credit for their goods or have to buy a certain amount… heard about it in Kara & Nate. Called Harvest Hosts.
Harvest Host
Thanks Cindland - yep we have it and it also has boondocking welcome - roam free - campendium, Ioverlander - but we sometimes just can't find a spot - we have heard / seen that some of the BLM (Bureau of land management) land is also closing or now charing to park on public land ... this is apparently due to people living in their cars / RVs full time and not leaving before the maximum 14 day allowance ... It is very tricky stuff - kind regards and thanks for the tips - Marianne 🌺😘
Alot of RVers use Campendium to find free spots.
Yep we use that and Roam free and iOverlander and HH and Boondockers welcome - there are soooo many LOL - when I downloaded them I thought my phone might explode !! 😂
Parking up doesn’t seem so easy over there, miss seeing those wild camping spots in Turkey!
Us too LOL !!
Just read the newsletter, so excited for next March🤞
LOL - not to repeat myself ... but us too !! LOL xx Although going to see my Aunt on Vancouver Island ... and Alaska is going to be crazy !! woo hoo xx
I just found your channel (started with the New Mexico episodes) and I'm obsessed. I've been binge-watching your older vids for a couple days now :-). If you are headed toward Los Angeles, let me know and I'll tell you the PERFECT place to stealth park for a couple days just near the beach
Welcome aboard !! Woo Hoo - thanks for taking the time to watch our videos and we will be at the beach ... but we have to go to Alaska first !! woo hoo - keep an eye on the free newsletter to see us coming xx
Following you on your journey with great interest, hope you have many more safe miles and free parking lots ❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
Loves, Cracker Barrel’s or hotel parking lots may be helpful.
Worcester, Massachusetts might resupply you with baba and humous!
only you two would get the knock by the cops and end up with a patch. LOLOLOL
LOL - They gave great restaurant recommendations too !! M xx
Welcome to america, land of not free
Stop in Durango Colorado and ride the silverton train
Thanks for the tip !
