Vocabulary hint: In power utility nomenclature:
*Conduit: A conduit is a tube or pipe used to protect and route electrical wiring in a building or structure. It can be made of metal, plastic, fiber, or fired clay. Conduits provide protection to enclosed conductors from impact, moisture, and chemical vapors. They can be rigid or flexible and are typically installed by electricians. (think breaker panel to lighting circuit or electrical outlets)
*Duct: A duct is a pipe or tubular runway for carrying electric power lines (usually not referred to as wires), telephone cables, or other conductors. In the context of underground installations, a duct often refers to a single enclosed raceway for conductors or cables, while a duct bank may contain multiple ducts.

6:51. Southend, west. Level 2. Dead, no one working. There was a mass departure yesterday in Brad’s video. Contractor sacked?
7:38. Southend, west. A few workers. Most the scissor lifts, boom-lifts, forklifts, etc are inactive.
8:17. Southend, south. West Fire Escape Tunnel. Close to the building, boxing for a grate drain, set-down in the slab. Away from the building, another row of vertical rebar, same as the Central tunnel.
8:37. Southend, south. Central Fire Escape Tunnel. Note the ski-jump shape of the top of the wall. Staging and some decking erected for the roof slab.
9:47. Southend, Cooling Tower. Only the workers at the electrical ductbank and vaults. No one working on the Cooling Tower.
9:52. Southend, Cooling Tower. Pipe on the saddles to the right. Grey paint in 2 locations on the underside. Might be the sections of the pipe that
    sit in the saddles.
10:13. Southend, east. Levels 1 and 2. Crickets.
12:36. Cyber Circle, or Cyber Circuit? Lithium st is the street on the south side of the Parking Garage
13:14. Southend, east. Roof at Stamping. Zig-zag to provide slope away from the Stamping wall. A quirk of a roof slope meeting an angled wall.
16:00. EOL, Superchargers. Street lighting poles would be for the Superchargers. Footings and electrical installed ready for the lighting.
18:23. GA, apron. Pump and hoses at the Sanitary Sewer wet-well.
18:44. Battery, west. Road. Lot of water on the road and apron.
19:51. Casting/Paint. Pressure testing the trial assembled pipework. There’s a permit for ‘Casting - Paint Disposal Dock Doors’. Structure behind these doors is isolated from Casting.
Casting, north. More permanent roof constructed over the scaffold portico. White bins are for the scrap from the trimming of the castings.
    EPJ, Electric Pallet Jack.
20:40. Casting, north east corner. Apron. Bottom left. The new red Furnace Tender vehicle parked with the scraper attachment in a bin.
20:59. Casting, east. Apron. Series of steel beam embedments along the wall. Top flange drilled with a series of holes, maybe for some piece of equipment to be mounted here.
21:09. Casting, east. Look hard enough and a trench across the rebar is visible, directly above a line of screw piles. A trench for a rail for a travelling gantry crane, or other rail mounted equipment.
21:24. Casting, Baghouse. Galvanised frame. Pair of large items installed on the second level. Speculatively heat exchangers. Note the opening in the guardrail to the right.
26:21. Tesla Road, north. Ductbanks intersection. Erecting the shuttering for containment walls.

    LCRA Substation:
@ 25:30 Unfortunately large transformers have long lead times from when they are ordered to when they are delivered. But we will know when they start marking the grounding grid prior to excavation work. Also, some switches in the third bay (east bay) may be opened.
New power supply to the building:
@ 26:02 Cables being pulled three at a time through the duct-bank heading north. Here is where they end up 25:45 Where there is enough cable left over to reach the Mega-vault. The 2 duct-banks have the capacity for 24 three-phase circuits (72 cables not counting grounds).
    Duct-bank intersection/crossover/new structure:
@ 26:21 Rebar work and forms placed along with what appears to be steel columns. No opening for a door, speculating that this may be structure with large vaults on the first level, and switching equipment on the second level.

those tunnels on the end are likely for liquid purge if there is a break in the system. with such large volumes of liquid going through there, it needs to be managed away from the equipment. there shouldnt be that many people in there once things are up and running so these tunnels would be an expensive people-mitigation system. there are weirs at the bottom of the tunnels and they empty out right at the bigger pond. this is obviously for liquid movement. since it is already treated water, it should be ok to come out to the pond in case of emercency. you also dont want tunnels like that in case of emergencies for people-egress. too much constriction and risk of more hazards.

I thought I recalled it being mentioned at some point that the tunnels were terminated inside the building with "freight elevators" ... which makes the idea that these were "fire escapes" for personnel exit highly unlikely. A "fire escape" should not involve an elevator which could be rendered inop in case of a fire. The "liquid purge" theory makes more sense.

    • @kkarllwt
      @kkarllwt Месяц назад +4

Liquid drainage could be done with a simple pipe. These tunnels connect to internal stairways for emergency evacuation. Codes require a minimum of safety exits. Numbers of people and distance to safety. Because of the fancy glass walls , they are going with this very expensive solution. Water drainage? Your life must be strange and interesting.

    • @astewart1900
      @astewart1900 Месяц назад +1

On one hand, in plumbing systems the drain pipe is usually larger than the supply pipes. On the other hand there’s got to be some elevators in there somewhere, and I don’t recall seeing any other than the three at the ends of these “tunnels”. My memory may be bad… Often fire escape stairs and elevators are located next to each other and both need to be fireproofed. Poured concrete tunnels does seem like an expensive solution to fire egress needs. But those are big, heavy sheets of glass. Maybe requirements to get escapees clear of those? I dunno…

I am sure joe announced a few months or so ago that the boring company had wanted the tunnel to be in useable by July, or was that another musk timeline.
Also surprised, they have not cleared the exit of the tunnel on the west side and laid the surface for the road and surrounding infrastructure. I hypothesized that maybe all work has slowed down due to the very high temperatures, and we may see in a few months as cooler weather come in more activity.

Has work slowed down on the site, i am 22 minutes in and barely see any difference to the baghouse other than what looks like two fan units installed to the north of the baghouse is the only real difference from 3 weeks ago even the rebar for the slab to the north of the baghouse is just slightly advanced compared to what i saw two weeks ago.. the tunnel is exactly the same other than the gravel and two small piles of sand, I wonder if most work has been slowed due to the heat being experienced but one new bit if activity is seen on tesla road where the water pipes are being installed again, maybe? They have done absolutely nothing to tesla road extension for almost a year now. Otherwise, the only real difference is the levelled areas look slightly more level to the south and where the outbound lot is it looks like they are maybe preparing for more tarmac to be laid down soon.
