What a fantastic video. I like the bigger picture scope: not just “these games are good”, but also “what makes a game good”

This was my first encounter with your channel, and it made a good impression on me - I subscribed because of it. I was a little disheartened to see Targi in your stack of "perfect" two player games and then hear no further mention of it (it's one of our favorites), but I understand you can't talk about every game in a short time.
We really like Jaipur a lot, so I was happy to see you mention Canopy in the same section. We'd never given it much attention before, but now we'll be taking a closer look at it.
Thanks for making such a needed concise but thorough video about two player games. Cheers!

Very very good list. I own most of the games you are featuring, but the game my wife & I alway come back at the end is: Splendor Duel.
You are building your engine, you are only missing one pearl & then boom, your adversaire cut you at the finish line.

yes Splendor Duel is so good. I sold my copy of the original Splendor in favour of the small box two player version.

I love 2 player only games but finding the right person can be quite difficult. A lot of people don’t like the “tug of war” aspect of those games.
Other than that, my perfect 2P game would be:
Easy to learn and easy to teach.
    Appealing artwork and Theme.
    Not more than 20-30 minutes.
    Competitive 😁✌️

Great video! Loved the categorization, and I think that Boop and Lost Cities could fit in some of those groups.

Hive with all the expansions is my favorite 2 player game as well! 😃 Though Santorini, Ragnarocks and Air, Land and Sea: Critters at War [Epic Mode] are nearly on that same level as Hive.
Mind Bug is a must play/own game for me! But I have never crowd funded a game so hopefully it goes to retail so I can pick up Mind Bug.
Also Canopy looks great might have to get that someday too.
Danny, do you have any Button Shy (18 card) games? I have Skulls of Sedlec (with the expansions) and love it. Also recently purchased Hierarchy and Ancient Realm and excited to check those out.
Thanks for all the board game content Danny! I appreciate your hard work in making these videos and sharing your passion for tabletop games here!

For couples, i disagree with competitive games. Competition of any sort in an intimate rship is deadly, for both love and intimacy and hence long term rship. Between friends, different story. For couples, coop games are best. The whole team building and working together, which most couples already lack can be taught thru board games. Plus it'll add the component of communication...also something lacking in most intimate rships. So coop games are the abs best for intimate couples.
Then there are games like me, who want to play with my 8yo granddaughter or her and my Mrs where they team up. Again, coop games are best there as it teaches kids to play as a team, and working together. I think the competition may cause narcissism or traits thereof where the whole "me" "me" and more "me" is installed........we have enuf psychopaths.....don't need to create more of them.
Between friends who are emotionally mature, then comp games are fine. As long as neither are sore losers. if either one is a sore loser, then coop games would be best.
I would say my best 2 player games are the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective series

7 wonder duel is the most overrated 2 player game in existence. It’s like the monopoly of the 2 player world. So many better 2 player games out there.

yep truth.. too many symbols to remember only slows down game and so in the end it's not even that exciting
