In this clip, Nasty C spoke on the progression of the hip-hop scene in South Africa as well as about being raised as a member of the Zulu clan in South Africa and the significance of that tribe within popular human history. Nasty C opened up about dealing with the coronavirus situation in South Africa, which he said is on lockdown like most of the country. While he admitted that he doesn't know anyone with the virus, Nasty C does know someone that has HIV, which he says is a big problem in South Africa. DJ Vlad pointed out that 1 in 5 adults are HIV positive in South Africa, which Nasty C said he wasn't aware of, and he shared the various ways people could contract HIV.
Moving along, Nasty C spoke about working with No I.D., who is executive producing his upcoming album, Zulu Man with Some Power. He explained how after meeting No I.D. in South Africa, the two started working on music in L.A., and Nasty C added that No I.D. helped him navigate various record labels in the U.S. He also shared the difference in the South African version of the n-word, which you can hear more about above.

I didn't even know this Channel before this interview with our very Nasty C. With such a talent, it is disappointing and disrespectful for an interviewer to be this ignorant about an interviewee biography, unless they have an agenda that they are trying to bring across their typical audience. South Africa, is a world class country VLAD that has a very unique culture and history. It's people, like most of African countries are complex so as their reality. Therefore, you can not pin point any African to a stigma or stereotype. We are not a mediocre people that think reality is Hollywood and US Television , and what the Western Institutions tell and show you about Africa is not the entire truth. I'm just writing this so that you do not repeat the same line of questions next time you interview another African brother.

Nobody should use the K Word in their lives in South Africa...We just didn't couldn't own that term, We had some black artists use it but they never associated that term with anything positive infact when it's used we kinda use it to prove to the white man that yes I am a "Kaffir" (K-Word) but I am somebody you should respect etc...Kwaito artists used it in the 90's but it didn't catch on like that plus Afrikaans words do not transition well into English, it's difficult to do that with very strong K sounds the Afrikaans language uses, infact the Afrikaans dialect is not sexy at all, even Hollywood will tell you that, it's not really a language like French, Spanish or Italian. German is a lot softer as compared to Afrikaans and even that does not transition well into the commercial market.
My point is the K word has been deemed so horrible that nobody uses it in South Africa...Racist white people do and just like the US, when a White Citizen says The N Word, newspapers and law suits arise...In South Africa some get arrested even. Under the charge of "Crimen injuria" which originates from Latin as our Law origins date back in to Ancient Rome it means: the act of "unlawfully, intentionally and seriously impairing the dignity of another". An offence which could land you either a hefty fine or some prison time of maybe 2 years minimum...Just don't be yelling the word out like that while you tying to force a living black person inside a coffin on your farm and then later on trying to burn them...That really happened almost 3 years ago by the way...Cause then you facing like 10 years in Prisonl.
That's to add further context....However it does make me want to ask...As Africans, are we wrong to want to use the N Word? We started using it in the Hip Hop community because Black Americans were using it in their songs which became really big hits and highly requested on South African radios. Hip Hop is bigger than you think across the world, a platform for Black People who excelled in expressing themselves in the form of Rap, so we took some archetypes from the originators of the culture such the use of the N Word, the clothing style, the slang terminology but we mix it with some of our own etc. Though the history behind how it became popular for Black Americans to say it, is something not a lot of South Africans know...I remember a black actress used the word on television for the first time in the 70's and it snowballed from there but that's cause I had to do some digging, to the average South African it's just a term you obviously got from a Hip Hop song and you are clearly into the culture if you use it.

Zulu's are one of the South African Tribe's... They made a name for themselves due to their style of fighting and they won a very important war fighting the White Colonisers. They ruled and still rule the more "South" of South Africa which is called KwaZulu Natal (KZN) They are known to have a bad temper and very quick to put their hands on someone... Which isn't a fact, it's because of their History of having a strong Zulu army.
