Actually Ruff, you're pretty accurate with your take on anime fights "lasting 1 second but being in 'slo-mo'" it's called abstraction of time, it's something much, much easier to pull it off in manga vs. anime, it's like how Jojo characters can speak entire essays within like 2 or 3 seconds of "real-time", in the manga it's easier to accept the abstraction, in the anime on the other hand it's harder because the words have to be spoken and acted instead of being read at any pace.

15:09 I know you’re caught up so the theory varies, but at this moment in time, the theory for Luffy is that since he’s rubber, and rubber is actually flammable, the friction he generates from moving so fast causes fire. Similar to Sanji who generates friction with spinning. Also, Luffy inherited Ace’s will and that’s a big story theme.
I mean... that *was* the running theory yeah, until Oda took everything we thought we knew about the Gomu-Gomu no Mi and flushed it down the toilet lmao.
There has been at least one instance where Sanji ignited his leg by simply tapping it on the ground. Unless that was just an anime only scene then I dunno how friction plays a part there. Unless he is moving so absurdly fast that we can’t even see him do it, but eh… I personally think there is something else going on that is perhaps ingrained in the reality of the One Piece universe itself that enables people to do these impossible things. I mean Brook is doing things that aren’t even a nature of his fruit. It was only supposed to bring him back to life, not give him these other super powers. People have explained before how the nature of Luffy’s powers was only limited by his imagination. His powers worked because he believed they would. Maybe everybody has a little bit of that inside them?

@@Qu9ke I think it’s still a fantasy series, so there’s some stretches you can make at this point in time; Sanji may have kicked so fast it burst into flame. I mean, kicking the air so fast and hard can make you sky walk, so why not do fire too?

I do find it strange how easily people forget Kanjuro actually WANTS to die.
So killing him isn't much of a punishment. Rather it's giving him what he wants.
In his case, getting locked up forever and forgotten about would most likely be the worst possible fate.
i’m so glad you like ulti! when i watched these episodes she quickly became one of my favorite characters in the entire series just because of how powerful she is, like rarely does a female character in one piece have the power to clash with LUFFY, which i thought was so sick, i bought a figure for her right away ^^
The realisation of the oden figure was beautiful to imagine XD Just one day strolling past the shelf and realise its a death scene.
Also I don't wanna clog up the comments with this conversation once again but I just need to say: It is SO nice to finally watch a reactor that is just casually using the right pronouns of both kiku and yamato without making a big deal out of it

I mean, walk a little on Kaido's sandals, he has a plan, a guy arrives to try and screw it up and then you daughter (at the time) comes to you and says "i wanna be that guy who screwed everything for you" also, props to Kaido for calling Yamato his son, akmowledging Yamato prefers masculine pronouns
The only reason Kaido calls Yamato his son is because he wanted to make her the Shougun of Wano 1 day but only man can becane the Shougun so he raised his daughter as a boy from probably the moment Yamato was born in order to make her the Shougun 1 day. In the manga Yamato gets introduced as Kaido's daughter but a lot of western readers refuse to accept it and say it's just a mistranslation when in Japanese Oda used the kanji for musume (daughter) when introducing Yamato.
Eh... I'm not so sure about that part of "Yamato prefers masculine pronouns".
On a side note. Yamato should be referred to as Oden but I digress. The following is a relatively serious conversation and thoughts, so feel free to not click on Read More, because I probably have an odd take on the matter in the eyes of some people, even if I mean all respects to everyone.
That said, I get that you people are really excited and happy about that sort of stuff, and that's great but it's kind of old news in the anime/manga scene. I mean arguably Ranma 1/2 has probably the first potentially literally gender fluid character in a popular anime.
But back to Yamato, and I will be using she to refer to her, the son of Kaido, and yes I realize just how weirdly confusing that sentence is. The manga clearly indicates that Yamato does not care whether she is referred to as a woman or referred to as a man. If memory servces well, different members of the straw hat crew has referred to her as a woman and she has not attempted to correct that or acted offended to it. It was more important that she was respected as a human being than anything else and approached to as a friend. Essentially, the matter of she or he is so little a matter to her that she does not appear to mind.
Arguably, she shares a lot with Oscar Rose of Versaille, an anime made in 1979 about a girl who was raised as a son to be the inheritor of her father. She does not hide the fact that she is physically a woman, but everyone save for her childhood friend treats her as a man and the successor of her father. The story does eventually lead to war and tragedy, but Oscar never stops being a man, raised as she was by her father to be such.
That trope has been seen on and off ever since too, the loud celebration of Yamato in particular has been very odd to me, but it also reminds me that there are a lot of anime enthusiasts who only stick to the big three or the big mainstream anime, so basically DBZ, One Piece and Naruto, stuff like that.
And yes, you can use she to refer to Yamato because again, canonically in the manga, she does not appear to have any qualms with being called she or he. So it's not really your place to determine what she wants to be called. Moreso than anything, she wants to be called Oden and not Yamato. So arguably calling her Yamato is more offensive than calling her a she by the same logic. But in either cases, she does not mind.
The trope though mind you can also open up a different can of worm, what do you do when your parent forces their ideal gender unto you? I mean we do understand that Yamato was eventually inspired by Oden and wants to be Oden, to the point where she calls herself Oden and not Yamato, but still replies to Yamato, it's really confusing in a way but I suppose the healthiest way to see it is that her self image is so strong that she does not mind being what she infers to be misnamed, as the intent of friendship is more strong than anything else compared to her father who calls her a him but clearly disrespects her.
Essentially, there is a surprising amount of nuances to be had and clear evidence that the usage of pronouns and the enforcement of the usage of pronouns isn't a black and white indicator of actual respect and care.
And that's also why I chose to call Yamato a she, and not call him Oden as you would probably prefer everyone to do, in part to bait and see if you would read this. Because the careful usage of the pronoun to refer to a fictional character is not an indicator of your respect to the fictional character, but a matter of self image. It is indeed a very different matter when dealing with a living breathing person. But if someone was like Oden here, and did not care or mind how they were referred to, or called as, then it would not be your place to assume that anyone who calls him a he is respectful, and likewise that people who calls him a her is disrespectful.
Nuances, it makes the world stupidly annoying complicated.
Also like someone else pointed out. There's the matter of potential translation issues, localization issues. Lately we've had scandals involving Hi-Dive and active mistranslation or Seven Seas and complete re-editing of an author's story, removing whole story segments in the name of localization while infuriating both the original author and fans.
This fits far more into the usual trope of I want a male successor, you are my male successor. It's like a non-deadly twist on the tragedies that happened in China where the law of single child per family household led to families drowning their female children shortly after birth. Though in the case of this trope, it is the forceful erasure of the female gender to impose the male one on the child.
As to why I'm bringing up such a serious topic and discussion on what amounts to a throwaway congratulatory statement. Well, it's because you did that congratulatory statement on a set of circumstances that is very grey. While nobody should be dehumanized, and everyone is free to explore themselves and express themselves and form their identity and express that identity. Blind praise without consideration in depth of the circumstances feel like either it is intended to be a gag, which it certainly could be, or misguided praise.
And in this case, I wholeheartedly believe that praising Kaido for this is very misguided.

@@painvillegaming4119 He lead big mom to udon, cured queen's virus and had little scuffle with him, but he didn't get a full fight with an enemy like the rest of the strawhats and he didn't get a power boost. I mean the time extension for monster point is fine but it doesn't feel like chopper got much growth during this arc at least for me.

Same for ussop, he didn't do enough IMO. I could say the same for brook, but he got plenty of attention in Whole Cake so i'm kinda chill about that one.

The reason that the figurine came like that is just simply that, "Oden wouldn't be Oden, if it wasn't boiled!"
- Page One has the Dragon-Dragon Fruit Model Spiniosaurus which in a SBS Oda explains that in his Spino form for the 1st time in the manga his tail changed due to a new fossil discovery (as of April 2020) with it looking more like a paddle

I liked Page One and X Drake too, but Ulti is definitely the best Tobi Roppo. Sasaki and Black Maria are the ones I really don't care about, and Who's Who is fun to laugh at.

@@maldambao6126 not evem transphobia, it's straight-up a respect thing, and Kaido certainly doesn't respect Yamato like that, scion or not.
(edit) maybe he just wanted a son instead of a daughter, and things just happened to work out, but that also doesn't seem like a Kaido thing to do. If that was the case, he'd just un-alive the unwanted daughter or dismiss her in other ways, but agreeing to acknowledge her as male, especially for this reason, yeah, the most uncharacteristic thing in this arc
Kaido is actually a complex character. He will always respect your ideals if you're passionate enough.

Nah it's not a problem of making Luffy look weak this time, the same happened in the manga, just in one panel like you said, and the result was pretty much identical. It's just the habit of making every clash last for minutes that's annoying, because if everything is intense, then the most intense fights don't feel on a completely different level. Also it does become boring for manga readers after a while when they put less than a chapter in an episode, that's insanely slow pacing.
This isn't the same as the bat-man situation which was so insane it destroyed all inner consistency.
They gotta sell it like that because Oden wouldn't be Oden if it wasn't boiled.

In terms of physical prowess, maybe. But Who’s Who and Black Maria have way better abilities.
We know that Posiden is a Mermaid Princesses, and Pluton is a weapon that can be constructed. The 3 Ancient Weapons are named after the Greek Gods that defeated the God of Time, as well as their father, Kronus. There's Posiden, God of the Sea, Hades, God of the Underworld (Hell), and Zeus, God of Olympus (Sky).

Thank you Ruff! It's very refreshing to see a OP youtuber be consistently understanding and an ally to the LGBT+ community.
No matter how ppl view it, it's important to respect the character and author. Yamato (and everyone else) uses masculine pronouns, and the debate about whether he truly identify as a man only bc of Oden or not feels tiring. Lots of people realize they are trans (man/woman/non-binary/genderfluid etc.) or gender non-conforming bc of real or fictional role models/characters.
People's theories about Yamato and how it could change in the future was never an excuse to disregard the current facts from the character and author, that being Yamato using masculine pronouns and identifying as a man (yes, even though their body is more feminine presenting, that is about gender expression, not gender identity, it's different).
Also, the OP community (including OP youtubers) should not have used Yamato as an excuse to be ignorant and transphobic. Real LGBT+ fans had to hear and read it all, and It was truly disheartening to see how a lot of ppl reacted, and refusing to try to understand bc "it's so confusing". Well, gender identity and expression is a spectrum and a person/character should not have to conform to others expecations on how to look or identify.
OP is about freedom and peace. Oda himself is an ally (who has improved on his presentation of LGBT+ people with Kiku and Yamato). The Revolutionary Army, who are fighting against oppression, literally cosist largely of trans/gender nonconforming characters. That is not a coincidence on Oda's part.
I can understand not thinking the pacing is that bad during fights, but when it comes at the cost of character it is bad imo. In the manga, Kanjuro doesn't beg for his life. Kiku hessitates because of their previous bond, not because Kanjuro begs her for mercy (which is what's implied here). To me, that just diminishes her character a bit, even if the outcome is the same.
The fire that luffy makes is from rubber's Vulcanization property. Sanji's fire is entirely different. :^)

But just on the off-chance there is STILL some confusion regarding Yamato's pronouns:
Yamato identifies herself as Oden who was a man.
If Oden would not have been a man, she would not introduce herself as 'Kaido's son'.
She’s basically doing an extreme Oden cosplay.
This is offcially confirmed by extra-manga material where she is simply listed as 'female' as opposed to someone like Kiku who is listed as 'a woman at heart'.
