As Good As LUSSO II? Bessacarr 850 Caravan Review

- It's funny how having someone standing outside a caravan changes how I review a caravan. It's not that I was particularly worried that he might over here me saying non complimentary things, it's more that I knew he could hear me. In the same way I can watch my own vlogs 50 times when editing, as soon as Mandy is watching one I have to leave the room.
Anyway, I did what I could under pressure - all brought on by myself of course. Hope you get something out of the look around. I was really impressed and as I said in the review, it did remind me of the Coachman Lusso, as in, very luxurious and well finished, of course that comes at a price...

Hi Graham, Thank you for this review, the van is beautiful and I think it will do what I need for the future. (I have owned my current van a Sterling Eccles Jewel for 18 years and want the same from my Bessacar 850 when I get delivery next year). I agree it is a lot of money but now I am retired I spend a minimum of 1 week every 4 touring and have bought a suitably weighted towcar at a 80% match. I want 5* luxury from my own space during my retirement and this looks like it will give it to me. I can't justify the Eriba 850 price hike.
I agree with you that Bessacar 's are dealer specials. I term it a Swift Elegance 850 with the extras already installed ( and included in the 3 year warranty rather than a normal 12 months if bought separately). Coupland's ( IMHP) seem to have listened to their customers and produced an almost complete van. ( I am adding a mover, satellite and paint protection only). The staff at Couplands were really customer focused and have so far gone out of their way to assist me when helping me decide on which van to replace my ageing but fully functional Jewel.
Thanks again for the review, I forgot to video the Van when I was at the show and this log is a great way of reminding me what I have bought.
Cheers Colin
Thanks for watching. Sorry it wasn’t that in-depth, I was unsettled by how close the salesmen were 🙄
It’s absolutely gorgeous, right up there with the Lusso on luxury. I think it’s important to distinguish between expensive and a lot of money. It is a lot of money, but I don’t think it’s expensive. There a lot of caravan. BTW re dealer special comment, I didn’t mean it as a derogatory comment, it’s as just I’d never considered Bessacar a dealer special.
Graham
Enjoy your retirement Colin.. you've earned it!.😎💕🇬🇧
@@CaravanVlogger Hi Graham, I absolutely agree with your comment on expensive versus a lot of money. When I bought the Jewel, it cost more than many other similar vans but it suited our needs and I was happy to pay a little more. The van has repaid me many times over the years with multiple foreign holidays and weekends away. I have lived in it twice when working away from home avoiding expensive impersonal hotel rooms. It even provided a home kitchen when we were replacing the domestic one for a month. It would be fair to say that we love the life style but don't think it should be a "hair shirt" experience hence we are willing to pay the extra for the additional convenience.
Anyway, thanks for the video and the other ones you do. Yes they entertain me but they are also educational and help me avoid some of the issues you present. Keep up the good work I invariably agree with your "observations"!
Thanks Colin
I love this caravan..it looks great....if I could have another caravan alongside our Lusso 2 it would be this one...fantastic!
I absolutely love the deeper bedroom wardrobes and space to put your phone and charge it at night. Something the other manufacturers should consider.
Thanks for watching Paul. I agree. They do throw everything at these caravans, extras wise, but then as they say, it’s reflected in the price.
😮 Wow!! That’s an impressive caravan… love all the backlighting, space inside is vast. The storage cupboards in the bedroom at the back look super deep. Seems well thought out with plenty of charging points… sadly something we find lacking in our van 🚐
Thanks for watching. Yes, lovely caravan and you get the added bonus of having a car when you arrive. Could I interest you in one 😂 We’re running a special “move from the dark side” discount 🤪
Great vlog Graham wish you had done the 835 🙃we trying to buy one. Spoke to you Wednesday at the show (outside the Elegance) thanks for the sticker👍
Thanks for watching. I did the Swift Elegance Grande 835 as part of this vlog, but not the Bessacarr. Those salesmen were breathing down my neck :-)

@@CaravanVlogger Yeh i watched the Elegance one 🤣What am I saying I watched them all 🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣Me too 🥴
They are stunning vans to be fair. For very deep pockets!
CaravanVlogger is becoming to go to guy for quality caravan reviews!!
Thanks for watching. I’m surprised at the lack of reviews coming out. What’s the point of having a press pass 🤣🙄
I’m starting a crowdfunding kickstarter thing to raise money to buy one, for my viewers of course 🫣
@@CaravanVlogger if I did a review I’d need to do about 40 takes! But yeah surprisingly few reviews
Nice, if you like sitting in the front of the lounge with your head in the curtain track. This sort of thing was very popular a few years back - short lived!
I dislike vans where the toilet sits in front of an open door, be it bedroom of living area. That’s why I prefer the Lusso
Wonder if the rear bedroom temp sensor is now standard across the Swift range with Alde heating. Always been a great system but spoilt by the bedroom being considerably hotter than the rest of the van. Couplands are my local dealer so may call in and dig a bit more. Thanks Graham, maybe sales were after a sticker 😂
Thanks for watching. I think the rear sensor is saved for the top of the range vans. You can get it as a retro fit though
I've always thought the BESSACARR was swift's luxury offering...but because of the black/gray graphics which normally indicates "dealers special" I'm not sure now..one thing that's surprising is no switch to operate the electric sun roof next to the bed...it's included in the elegance 850 and considering the price difference I'm not sure why it's not!!.😎💕🇬🇧
Thanks for watching. There was a rocker switch in the bedroom, so I’m guessing that was the roof control.
@@CaravanVlogger on closer viewing I think you're right...with the inclusion of AC and other items that are extras on the elegance version it represents good value.😎💕🇬🇧
The switch is there for the heki next to the bed and all the elegance`s have them too and the the thermostat and switch for the heating, there is a lot of extras for not a lot more money.
we just waiting for Graham to order his then we will get one. 😂😂
Composite floor with these vans. Interesting.
I don;t think many people have 50K in the back pocket for a caravan or have I led a very sheltered life.
This and the lusso2 van front seating area look very small for such big vans , I don’t know about you but I like to stretch out on my side of the van. Too much space is dedicated to the bedroom, let’s face it 99% of the time your in the bedroom you are asleep.
Big van, tiny lounge, what’s going on? Lovely finish though.
Thanks for watching Colin. That’s the “downside” of a mid washroom. I say downside, for us it’s a plus, it makes it cozy 🤷♂️
