It's not just blue light. Blue light is just in general more effecient at stimulating the nervecells in our eyes. The way I've understood it is the more they are stimulated the more it will prohibit the release of melatonin. And it does not have to be bluelight just light in general. Also at times you want to be awake you want to take in more light. Downloading an app called lux meter you can use your phone to check light levels around where you live. I've done this lately and it has greatly increased my understanding of the importance of going outside and get that natural light.
I use gunner bluelight blocking glasses, and on my phone I use the nightshift option. Do these help a lot or would I still be way better off just not using any screens? That would be tough to do lol
Blue light blocking glasses will help, and the night shift/blue light filter on devices will also help. Truly, nothing is better than minimizing/eliminating artificial light in the nighttime hours, but between the glasses and the blue light filters, you're doing well. We always recommend turning off all screens at least 30 minutes prior to when you attempt to go to sleep regardless of glasses and filters.
