I love both sides of Ren! I think if he was always serious he wouldn't be as relatable because we all have good days and bad days and laughter is the best medicine on those bad days as well. It's authentic. I'm glad he addressed it in his post. He's a great artist regardless of the content of the music and he is really just one of the best artists out.
For the record. If you mix Liquid Nitrogen with Hydrogen, the Hydrogen quickly boils off (regardless of temperature), and then the Nitrogen just as quickly turns to ice. (you also have to mix both in a process to make Ammonia, but I believe it's obvious Ren was referencing the prior chemical reaction I mentioned) Oh, and on to Geeky stuff, Logans' real name was James Howlett, lol, so you were spot on with Jimmy. I think the film with Ewan McGregor you were trying to think of was 'Trainspotting' 😉 I think, as well as the Lyrical flexing, which you mentioned, he is also stepping on different pop culture references that may have influenced him, or perhaps just were part of his experiences during that lockdown time (could be either I guess, but a hell of a lot of Pop Culture in the tune.) Situations surrounding greed in the music industry had almost tainted something that was sacred for me, so I decided I was just gona do what I did when i first started making beats at 13 years old, make beats, write lyrics, not care about the outcome, not try to make them particularly clever or something that would be 'big' just something I enjoyed making. Therapy. I started this process in winter 2021. What I didn't know when I was making it was how many people would be listening. Flash to winter 2022, right before I was about to go to Canada, I'd been sitting on this concept for about 5 years, a song where i'd be arguing with my subconscious, live while playing guitar, I thought it'd be cool to bring it to life before I left, as a more conceptual digital theatre type piece. I remember sitting on Brighton beach and writing most of it while i was freezing my balls off looking at the sea. This writing process was different and I chizzled away at each line a lot more carefully. I didn't know then but releasing this weird 9 minute long song in a basement would mean by the time the album that was always meant as a bit of fun came out, there would be over a million people listening. I always wanna stay truly authentic. Because the album was always just meant to be a bit of fun, I started having periods where i was shitting myself after Hi Ren came out because I knew it wasn't as good as I can do, and here were people coming from Hi Ren expecting something prolific and then theres me on tracks making dick jokes and just having fun with flowing.😂 I was struck with what hits most artists. Crippling MF'in self doubt. There were a few points where I challenged this and decided to really write while in canada, once was the end of suicide and my eulogy for Joe, the second time was Money Game Part 3, which didn't actually exist until I moved to Canada, I knew, just for my own sake, I had to write one of the best things i've ever made or i'd feel like people would just think the lyrics in Hi Ren were a one off, I sat down, and wrote a 7 minute piece that for me sits up there with the tales of jenny and screech, hi ren, and the other two money games and I'm actually really proud of how it turned out. I don’t know Ren but from what I've read and watched i dont think he necessarily wants to go hard on the rap element, i think its another string in his bow and he deliberately wanted to make a hip hop album with sick boi. To me it seems like maybe Ren's brain runs a bit faster than even he can keep up with and so stuff sometimes spills over the sides. I think the point of the love music series is literally that; he's playing his game. Music is his life blood, it's his dopamine hit and it feels like he's at his happiest when he's creating it. I don't think he's doing it for us, or for money or fame or acclaim. It's love.

I would NEVER have suspected the Twisted Metal allusion - that was such a fun game and you get a major fist-bump from me! para-sailn' with sarah palin is a "spoonerism", named after a certain Reverend Spooner who had a kind of 'speech impediment' if we can call it that - twisting syllables to make other meanings. E.g. "May I show you to your seat?" becomes "May I sew you to your sheet?" As a dyslexic myself I have a LOT of fun with spoonerisms.... oonerspisms, so to speak ;)

So, the words get flagged but it does little good since these terrible people find ways around the words just like we do.
