    I love how casual he is about his talent. Like, we all know he’s an exceptional swimmer but then he goes and tells us about shattering the world record and it’s just another day for him.
    Props on being so humble!

    Awesome video Cody Miller! I personally have never been able to get use out of a long swim long a warm up. Though I have been training at the NCAA level for 4 years now, I have never been able to develop much aerobic swimming ability. I swim my best when I get to do my own warm up (not the longer team warm up). I will only do about a 500 total. Nothing beyond a 100 of straight swimming. Then I do starts. That's it. But for the rest of my team, the longer warm ups certainly work best.

    What's it like swimming in 25/50 yard pools then going to competitions like the olympics where the pools would be in metres? Does it put you off at all if you'd usually do x amount of strokes in an american pool then having to make up the extra distance in the metre equivalent?

    Cody, I adore you and love watching your Vlogs! Please accept this feedback with the good intentions I have for it. 1) Great job in giving your medal away vs. 2) Being upset that you didn't win is possibly a bad role modeling for young kids. Winning is NEVER in our control, the only thing we control is our own performance. You yourself said you jammed all your walls in your 100. Did you deserve to win? Do you think Leah Smith (vs. Ledecky) or Lochte (vs. Phelps) should always be pissed that they didn't win? If a swimmer each performs their best, that is a win. And yes, if YOU perform your best, most likely YOU will usually win. But I think this sentiment is the hardest on YOU (vs. Adam Peaty). Just some food for thought for making you better and not putting pressure on some kids that worship you. Keep up the great job with your Vlogs. They rock! Kelly, OT Qualifier, NCAA D1 All-American.

    I’m a 56 100 backstoke, what do you think is the most important thing to focus on to get down to low 50s?

    • @osrsobby2318
      @osrsobby2318 6 лет назад +3

      underwater work, and holding speed over the last 50

    • @ImYala
      @ImYala 6 лет назад +1

      OSRS Obby Is there a certain way to think about the race or do I️ just try to kill the whole thing?

    • @azucka
      @azucka 6 лет назад +1

      Mojo Yala you need to do what you practise in training... so start there to learn the better underwater and work harder that you can keep up the speed

    • @TheRealTruth1
      @TheRealTruth1 6 лет назад

      One thing that helped me get down to the 48.8 100 Back (Tapered) range was doing broken sets at race pace, really focusing on underwaters and turns. I do the 200 back as well so I do 50 on a 1:00 base holding sub 28 (personal times you can speed it up or slow it down depending on your own ability) and i keep doing them until I don't make the 28 base, i do like a 100-200 flop (choice) and do the set again. I usually make it through 3-4 times depending on the day, but its a great workout for limited time or a high intensity practice. Like I said I do the 100 and 200 Back as my main events in college so thats why I do 50s. If your still in high school (just assuming) id go more for 25s since you are swimming more of a sprint and do a difficult but not impossible 25 base. Hope this helps!

    • @osrsobby2318
      @osrsobby2318 6 лет назад

      Mojo Yala this depends on your training regime, some people respond better to a front half speed, and others respond better to feeling fresh throughout the first 50 and then hammering home the last 50. Scientifically, building the last 50 has shown lactic acid to arrive slower than if you went all out from the start.
      I would practice a lot of sets where you hold pace and slowly build the last 5 yards, then start building the last 15, and last 25. This should set you up nicely!

    What's the #1 tip you have for a faster breaststroke?

    • @Will-rw8mf
      @Will-rw8mf 6 лет назад +8

      I'm probably not credible to answer this since my 100y breast time is more than 1:10... But I'd say when you kick, don't sweep your legs too wide, but keep it short and powerful. When you pull, don't pull so wide, and shoot your arms out fast and in a fluent motion. The most important part is to time the kick just right after you shoot out. It needs to be extremely smooth; as soon as you shoot, you need to be ready to kick hard and fast. On top of all that, glide for no longer than a second and a half.
      Also, try to lurch forward into the water when you shoot out. This will help increase momentum.

    • @BryceRogers_
      @BryceRogers_ 6 лет назад +1

      #1 tip from me: definitely keep your head and body angled forward in the water. This will help you power yourself forward at all times, as opposed to bobbing up and down

      K I'm pretty reliable for breaststroke tips cauz I'm a 1.08 and I'm thirteen. I would say have a super super super speedy breaststroke pull. A breaststroke pull is not meant to the main part of your stroke. You want to get your arms through that cycle as fast as possible

    • @kyleb394
      @kyleb394 5 лет назад

      Im 15 and have a 58. From experience, your pullout and explosiveness off the wall can be one of the most important factors, as it can account for more than half your race.
