I really enjoy your videos....I seriously have watched everyone of them. I don't understand the need to make any negative comments. It has dawned on me that so many people that comment negatively are "know it all's". For those of you who do not have anything good to say weren't you ever taught...."If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all". Jimmy Diresta doesn't need your negative or positive comments to be successful. Mr. Diresta's work speaks for itself. The dude has skills, whether its the way you would do it or not. GREAT WORK!!!!!!
jimmydiresta amazing work.. I love your videos as well. I may be dumb, but the way you attacked this chest looked really smart, actually welding in the planks looked like a smart choice, and not to obvious for me.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Diresta has the highest ratio of 'likes" to views of anybody I've seen on youtube. I get a smile very time I see a new Diresta video is available. Thanks for making and sharing and taking the extra time to make your videos so enjoyable to watch.
I hear you, it's like getting a badass Christmas present every time you see a 1 next to his name. He plays it smart with the uploads. Many popular channels saturate their feed with a video every day or two. I've had plenty of channels that I thought were awesome at first, but the content is always the same and I just get sick of it after 30 days and 50 videos.. Not Mr. Diresta, it's going on two years and I still get a lap rocket every time I see a new post. I want to be as cool as Diresta someday. Diresta, we salute you.
Brandon P Agreed some channels become stale with massive ammounts of uploads like every day or other day. however something like news or, current affairs is a good reason to upload every day.
i think they way you put your name all over is not only cool but separates you from all the ppl that fill videos with endless rambling. your videos are an awesome escape for me. as well as simple, yet amazing, inspiration. this video is no exception. well done.
I just love the DiResta videos! There is something about the editing.. the use of materials .. and ofc the great work Jimmy does... this is true inspiring work KEEP IT UP!
I just watched an interview where Jimmy said he had zero idea of what he was going to build minutes before making this...... That is amazing... Having that design on the fly ability is something that doesn't work well for most, Jimmy has mastered it.
I gotta say, Mr. DiResta, whenever I watch your videos all the crap that I've been feeling that day, no matter how bad the day was, I feel better. I feel alive and liberated. I don't know why, but there is something about watching a craftsman perform his art really really well (in this case, yourself), that makes one think "he can be good, I can be good". And then I don't feel so bad. So thanks for the vids, good sir.
We had a short guy on the job that liked to use a nibbler like you've got there, we called him "the Keebler with the neebler". Guess you had to be there
When I was a kid I had a Pirate Chest aquarium and I loved it, complete with Creature From the Black Lagoon bubbling figure. This reminded me of it. Love the industrial look mixed with the old wood. Great as always Jimmy.
When you were done with the build I knew you were going to stash it with something. Was a pleasant touch that really made it feel like the project was done. Thanks for yet another amazing build Jimmy.
I don't how many times I have watched this video, but it never gets old and I am always inspired to try one myself. I am a wood worker and not a metal guy but one of these days I'll make one. Thanks Jimmy for all the video's, I can always find some kind of useful trick or tip that you use and I can take back to my own shop.
I get so freaking thrilled every time DiResta puts out a new video. This one, of course, did not disappoint. Here's to many more years of inspiring DiResta projects!
that is one cool little pirate's chest. I have heard about but never seen a plasma cutter being used; the melted edge gives the perfect look for the finished product. Well done!
I think this video would have been better if it was a bit longer, at the end it should be you digging a hole and dropping the chest, then proceed to bury it and ending the ordeal by marking the ground with a huge X.
Yeah, I was expecting that too. I guess detail went out the window, especially when he tac welded the frame instead of actually welding then grinding the welds smooth.
Devin Deatherage I assume you mean not-modern pirate, which means welding is out altogether. They'd have forged metal pieces and joined them with hot rivots. This entire thing is an interpretation of a pirate's chest anyway. I like it. More art than science, but still requires skill. Very cool.
@@BashenManTV Lol, so you intentionally used the wrong word to try and bait pedantic RUclips commenters into correcting you so you could get mad at them?
Your videos give me confidence to try things I normally wouldn't. You made this look so easy. The coin dump at the end literally made me LOL. :) Another great build, Jimmy DiResta.
You make me wish I'd done more with the pallets we used to throw away at my old workplace. Mostly they were junk wood but occasionally we'd get ash, maple, and oak.
Thiago Roman Don't think there's a lot of weight reduction considering he had to add the wood. It's supposed to replicate a chest. Obviously they weren't made like this, they didn't have welding equipment and plasma cutters. They would just secure the wood with strips of forged metal.
Honestly bud a lot of stuff you make is true heirloom quality, thanks for the ideas and quick tips so I can eventually make my kid something memorable. Great job man keep it up
Kudos to you Jimmy, everytime I watch one of your videos it amazes me both on the content and how funny they are for a guy that doesn't talk on his videos. Keep them coming and I'll continue to like and share.
I just mean the tools, or a piece of wood before you plain it. don't get me wrong i understand you use this for promoting your skills and products, i just think it is a little much is all
That's brilliant love the way you mix wood with metal in your projects. I come from sheet metal as a career and now into woodwork so hope I can one day mix the two.
I'm impressed with how skillfull you are. You are a real artist, craftsman and it's impressive how well you master all kinds of tools. I've seen many of your vidoes, and the Stormtrooper and this pirate chest are really cool. Congratulations!
I'm going to be honest, you are one of the best. I cannot believe how creative you are and you do everything so well. I can't wait to get a shop of my own to try to create things like you have. Keep it up, I love all of your videos!!!
I remember in auto tech class I basically lived in that shop, using the plasma cutter to cut pretty much any design I could think of. It got to the point the teacher went and bought more scraps for me lol i don't have any tools like that of my own but man...if I had a place like that I would never leave!
An artist with amazing skills! DiResta you blow me away with every video! Love them, looking forward to the future to see what you make next! Thank you!
I love you videos mate. Watching a craftsman at work is both informative and aspirational. I build at 1/72 scale but I've picked up a lot of tips on building from your videos. Thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks - didn't know you existed before today - ALL GREAT tips & watching the videos taught me a lot! All the best to continue in this vein! Regards from Stan in Namibia
Finally I can steal all that change You have Collecting over the years! the big glass jug had no handle and would make me nervous walking down the steps with it. The handles will make this a lot easier for me! Seriously… Amazing, fantastic, creative, simply brilliant!
i made parade floats for a living for many years and i had to make alot of items like this in my days i had 4 pirate ships in the fleet and i have to say you did a good job for the speed and timing adding some cut off bolts could help fire/burn some of the wood things to make it look old

@@rhiannonangell6828 Agree!
I still get blinded,by the welding even though it's through a screen

That is by far the coolest pirate chest I have seen. Great work.
Thank you for the positive comments. My buddy maned the Camera working out some new ideas. Xoxo
impressive project and the camera work made me feel like I was more of an active member in the project.
hey Jimmy why did you split the contacts open in the beginning?
Phoenix Wright I would guess it's to stop it pulling out

Awesome work Jimmy. As a sheetmetal worker i was in awe about how youu went about folding the body up without a pan brake or hydraulic press. Legend.
There he is! Another awesome inspiring project!
Wow I have never seem welding done up close before. Majorly cool. This is the most badass chest ever.
I just love the DiResta videos!
There is something about the editing.. the use of materials
.. and ofc the great work Jimmy does... this is true inspiring work
KEEP IT UP!
I also find it so cool when there is the big blue flash when the two pieces are welded together. Wonderful job
I want one of these! And I would hear the sound effect from The Legend of Zelda every time I opened it!
Awesome dude.

Diresta for President.
always watched this when i was a kid, so nostalgic
I don't remember how I got here, all I know is that it was at 3:00 AM and I can't stop watching.
Hahahahahahaha me too.

Ew, nicknames. Poor guy.

Bad Ass!!!
Camera person did a great job also!
When you were done with the build I knew you were going to stash it with something.
Was a pleasant touch that really made it feel like the project was done.
Thanks for yet another amazing build Jimmy.
How todo you know how far to open the vice when you're using it to bend the metal?
I don't how many times I have watched this video, but it never gets old and I am always inspired to try one myself. I am a wood worker and not a metal guy but one of these days I'll make one. Thanks Jimmy for all the video's, I can always find some kind of useful trick or tip that you use and I can take back to my own shop.
Speed up hammering is my favorite sound
The planks at the top of the chest in the arch looked really cool, great build!
I didn't know pirates had welding machines and plasma torches.... but that's a pretty darn cool project.
i bet the ancient aliens did :D
Every time I watch one of your videos I am amazed. Thank you for sharing your craft.
does anyone else look away when hes welding?
yea hhhhhh
Alllll the time
Yep..
This is one of the people I most admire in the entire world. Jimmy DiResta.
OMG this was Fucking Amazing !!!! And I thought working with Wood was fun, you are a Bonafide Artist ! I want a Pirate Chest !!
+Kelly Williamson make you one
I get so freaking thrilled every time DiResta puts out a new video. This one, of course, did not disappoint. Here's to many more years of inspiring DiResta projects!
So sick. But I would've stained the wood and marred and scuffed I up first. To give it a richer, more antiqued and aged look.
This is by far the coolest build I have ever seen.
awesome man!!
just amazing...
This has to be my favorite Jimmy DiResta project so far! So much creativity, in the project itself but also the methods used... coool. Cool cool.
The welding bit gave me a seizure but great vid!
same
Yeah, it made the video pretty unwatchable. I had to keep jumping past those parts so I didn't end up with a headache.
that sounds dramatic as fk lol. its just blue pixels?
Goodness, I think I've watched this video 100 times. Just love the creativity and the old-school Jimmy approach. Fantastic!
great job. pls next time note that we need welding mask to watch his videos :)
that is one cool little pirate's chest. I have heard about but never seen a plasma cutter being used; the melted edge gives the perfect look for the finished product. Well done!
I didn't know pirates could spot weld LOL!
Of all jimmys builds, this one was the one that make me start making stuff
you are one bamf. keep being awesome
brother.. usted es mi inspira a trabajar cada vez mejor y con mas entusiasmo !! gracias
I think this video would have been better if it was a bit longer, at the end it should be you digging a hole and dropping the chest, then proceed to bury it and ending the ordeal by marking the ground with a huge X.
Knowing him, he would probably mark the ground with 'diresta' rather than an X
It would be cool if he posted the time it took for each project.
Noe Ruiz That one is easy, little less then 7 minutes and a bucket of amphetamines.
+girafmad
OMG !
Is it in real time?! I'm surprised.
The still frame looked so cool, then when you started I thought it looked really stupid. I kept watching and you blew me away. That was amazing.
what about those jagged edges from the metal wholes you cut for the wood? I was expecting you to sand them down with the amount of skill you have.
Yeah, I was expecting that too. I guess detail went out the window, especially when he tac welded the frame instead of actually welding then grinding the welds smooth.
AugustoTobias its a pirate chest, not like a fancy landlubber chest! i kinda like the tougher jagged version, personally
Devin Deatherage I assume you mean not-modern pirate, which means welding is out altogether. They'd have forged metal pieces and joined them with hot rivots. This entire thing is an interpretation of a pirate's chest anyway. I like it. More art than science, but still requires skill. Very cool.
Devin Deatherage
I love the way your work is very hands on a rustic... well not rustic but cool looking at the end! Well done, love the things you make!
Watching this I've now learned the wielding is just a hot glue gun for metal.
Except that hot glue is not mechanically sound. It's like saying that welding is just like soldering.
MIG welding (not wielding ;-), yes. There are many other welding techniques.
@@BashenManTV Lol, so you intentionally used the wrong word to try and bait pedantic RUclips commenters into correcting you so you could get mad at them?

real 17th century's welded pirate chest with metric screws.
You make me wish I'd done more with the pallets we used to throw away at my old workplace. Mostly they were junk wood but occasionally we'd get ash, maple, and oak.
why did he widen the electrical ports?
Probably to prevent the cord from falling out of the socket.
Another very cool project ! thanks for sharing .. I love how you recycle things and make new stuff using it like you did with the pallet wood.
Jimmy you are alien on earth, great work.
Your videos are mesmerizing! I can't stop watching!
Very cool build but i wish you had finished the job, the cutouts at the end are sloppy and unsanded
It's on purpose the vault is not perfect and not sanded at all !
Pirates made it, they didn't sand evething!
If it were a pirate chest they wouldn't have cut random holes out of a perfectly good metal crate
ZanderDude Yes, they would! To reduce weight and make it easier to carry around. =)
Thiago Roman Don't think there's a lot of weight reduction considering he had to add the wood. It's supposed to replicate a chest. Obviously they weren't made like this, they didn't have welding equipment and plasma cutters. They would just secure the wood with strips of forged metal.

make an awesome sword...

I never get tired of watching. Another brilliant project
so first make a nice strong steel box then cut holes in it and replace it with weak wood ? yeah makes sense
Kudos to you Jimmy, everytime I watch one of your videos it amazes me both on the content and how funny they are for a guy that doesn't talk on his videos.
Keep them coming and I'll continue to like and share.
you make cool stuff but can't stand how you post your name all over whatever you're making
If you go and take a close look i almost never put my name on any thing i make in the videos. Just maybe 1 in 20 times.
I just mean the tools, or a piece of wood before you plain it. don't get me wrong i understand you use this for promoting your skills and products, i just think it is a little much is all
supdus Branding. No one will do it for me. Take control of your life.
