  • In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy casts a cool looking skull belt buckle, maybe to hold up his badass leather-aproned work pants from the last episode.
    For more info on this video, tools, materials, sketchbook images, and Jimmy's notes on the build, check out this post on MAKE: blog.makezine.c...

    The amount of fun you can get with a set of wood chipping tools (or whatever those are called), a piece of wood and some creativity/imagination. Pretty awesome.

    This is flipping superb. Really wish Jimmy would cut down on the CNC machining on his own channel. Im all for technology but stuff like the above vid shows how damn talented he is and shows what’s in reach for those of us (most of us!) without a CNC machine.

    I took metal shop back then in high school and the sand mixture is sand and water mixed together and leaves a impression of the model that Jimmy used. A lot of casting are made by using this method..

    That is some casting sand, just like regular sand so it can get in all the tiny little nooks but it sticks together really well when compacted

  • @optimuprimoto

    I find also very impressive, the design of the belt attatchment. I know that it is not a big deal, but you did it with only one piece of iron strip, by bending it correctly, and i would have thought something more complex and difficult definitely .
    And also i had never seen this clay mold beign made in reality, except from some movies or documentaries that only show you one bit and not the whole proccess, which is something i like with your videos instead.

While I am sure you could never tire of being told how awesome you are ..I am sure you hear it a lot but I have to say your talent exceeds what artists ,sculptures designers ,craftsmen , wood workers ,artisans and makers all aspire to be! You are all of these and more ..you are an immense talent technically and creatively !Thanks for the inspiration !

      Are you sure that it's not Gallium?
      I mean it could be Gallium, the stuff in the video, it fills all these requirements:
      Melting point: 29.77 °C
      Boiling point: 2,205 °C

    • @MrAlittle5150
      @MrAlittle5150 10 лет назад

      Phoenix Wright Gallium melts at 85.57 °F. You wear a belt buckle made out of Gallium on a hot day over 90 degrees, don't you think it would melt?
