The Tru Drone team headed out to an abandoned water park in the middle of the California desert. It's just off the 15 freeway near Barstow. This water park has had a few different names over the years, but it is most commonly known as Lake Dolores
Update (02/11/2022)
It seems that they will start rebuilding the park soon. They do indeed plan to reopen it. The park will consist of 4 Motocross tracks, 2 Razor ATV tracks, a Concert Arena, a 40 space RV campground with hookups, and the old Lazy River will reopen but the old King of the Hill water slide will not, that it will be going away. Out behind the facility there will also be an Off-road racing track that will be partially on the park grounds and sprawl out into the desert like the Stoddard Off-road area managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Met my first wife at Lake Delores in the 80's I visited this park 3 times a month and camped in the campground . Great memories of that place it was one of a kind back in the day !!!

People do go out there do skate. I think even some pros have used this spot for just that

I remember passing by this park a lot when I used to go to Vegas with my parents never really stopped by to check it out but now I see it and it’s like wow can’t believe that really happened to it
It's hard to believe what happened to it. But at the same time, it's not that hard to believe. Given its location, climate, and also the evolution of other waterparks, this was almost inevitable. It blows my mind that they're trying to open it up again

Went there once in the early 80’s. I just remember going underwater in the lake and gagging because of the smell.

Thank you. The commercial is actually two different commercials. One from when it was Lake Dolores Resort and one from later when it was Rock-A-Hoola Water Park. Took bits from each and synced them to a nice saxophone tune

I saw this place right after it had closed and it looked so bizarre- brand new looking but weeds sprouting in the parking lot. I came across the history years later and was so excited to find what my memory had held onto for 17 some years

Yeah, abandoned places tend to be that way. At least this place gets plenty of light. Other places I have visited are much darker creepier.
Love this place, been here a few times for graffiti photo shoots. Can't wait to go back now with the Mavic Mini. Dig the old commercials too. Great find!!! Fine job brother :)

Not gonna lie, this place gives me the hibbie jibbies. 😂😂 Your drone footage on the other hand is so clean and crisp ! Did you color grade this? Cause the vibrancy of the shots are impeccable! Thanks for sharing
It's a pretty cool place to visit during the day. Would probably be much creepier at night. And yes, we do color grading. The edits for this video were particularly challenging
The music fits the video (perfectly) apparently the location wasn't good so I can't see why anyone would want to try to re open in 2024, Its practically in the middle of the desert.
I wonder how much that property would be to buy being that its abandoned. Would be a great property to have
It's always been owned by someone, but the park has been shut down and abandoned for about 16 years. It was recently bought by a different owner and they have plans to renovate.

Lake Dolores is not a artificial lake. There is a underground spring below the lake that is currently capped off.
