It seems the suffering is the entertainment in the conversation. I heard a really interesting podcast conversation with Dan Lyons, who wrote a book about being addicted to "drama". My read of your conversation is that the drama of the man vs course or man vs man is the draw for group to watch. Agree with the idea of shortening races especially for the US market. Shorter time seems to bring eyeballs, if the entertainment is good. A supporting argument is baseball in stand attendance this year vs last year. I don't watch races. I don't get to race other than 2 local long Island tris. I keep listening to a podcast about cycling for gems of conversations like this.
Hey there. Shout out to Tim for the 90's bmx shirt (step designs). Stylin'. How about an update from episode 25 back in 2017....tubeless & tubulars in cross. Has there been any advances in tubeless to warrant using them for cross yet? Maybe not so against tubulars but def over tubed tires. For certain in the gravel sector? Maybe another potential topic....parts, gear or technological advances over the years that you loved/hated.
