Hello! WHERE IS OUR BATHROOM/TOILET/SHOWER? Probably the most asked question we get asked, ever. We never addressed it in the video, so here is our answer. We didn't want to build a bathroom into our van. We wanted to have a more open space and save weight for other things. We have a porta potty under one of our seats, which is our toilet. We mostly use facilities where we can, but this has been a great back up and one we use. We didn't really 'install' it in our build, and we weren't sure which was the best place for it, so we didn't talk about it in our build or tour. Thought it was best to try it for a while and see. But now we have a better idea of how we use our space etc, we're happy with where it is :) But how do you stay clean, I hear you ask? We have a solar shower which we will use outside in warmer weather. But for now, we wash daily in the sink and keep our bodies clean that way. You don't need to shower every day, in fact, it's not particularly great for your skin if you do so. But it's something we're so accustomed to, living in a house with endless water! We have been amazed at how clean we can stay, without showering every day. Then, if Chesca needs to wash her hair or we fancy a hot shower, we use camping facilities, gyms or swimming pools (swimming pools are great because you can usually find them even in more remote towns). So we probably -actually- shower about once a week, but we are squeaky clean every day :) Hope that clears it up!
you can also use river, lakes and ponds in summer. Have you ever dream about waterfall shower in a beautifull remote places. I remember when we're camping in south Corsica on a wild beach. Diana said she had a most beautifull bathroom on the whole world.😃
Watched this back to back with the time lapse build. Great job. So informative and gave some more ideas for when I do mine. You showed lots of things I hadn’t considered in configuration.
Is your channel the most extraordinary, phenomenal, and sensational of all the channels I've ever come across on RUclips, or is your channel the most extraordinary, phenomenal, and sensational of all the channels I've ever come across on RUclips, huh ?
I have loved watching your build come along and it has turned out so beautifully. My husband and I bought a van (also a 170 WB although ours is extended!) this past summer and have been building right along with you. We're in the final stages and plan to move in in less than two weeks. Thank you so much for your beautiful videos and for sharing your build with us! We've gotten so many ideas from your beautiful van. Congrats on finishing and happy adventuring!
Thank you so much Hailey! That's wonderful to hear, you guys are so close! We're so glad you've enjoyed the videos. Best of luck with the last stage of your build, and here's to many happy adventures for you too 😊
Thank You so much for the "checklist style" footage in this series! I loved it and burned all in this afternoon. This will sure help me with my project. In my case I'll start from a shower/bathroom area which I desperately need everytime I scubadive far from home (all year round). Good job!
Thank you Lynne! I hope we never have to use it either 😅🙏 Thank you for the kind words, we've since ripped this layout apart and built something completely new. But, the escape hatch is still there! xx
Great van build - very homely. I found your channel when you were 'up north' so I had to go to watch the build. I've diverted to the van tour to see the finished build so I'm now going back to the build videos. They are so detailed and make fascinating viewing.
@@OverlandingSophia It took a while to realise you had a rebuild set of videos. I'm trying to step through in sequence. It is going to be interesting to see what changes you make as the first build was awsome.
Enjoying your videos. The toilet thing is personal choice. We have a washroom with a Thetford loo (the same one all vans seem to have) and a shower which works really well. The loo will only last about 3 days before full if we don't have access to campsite toilets. We have found that a van with a loo gets used much more than a van without (we had a VW T2 for 10 years) so I'm interested to see full time van-lifers who can cope without 'facilities'. We have a 6m Ducato campervan now.
Just found your channel, I always look for the van tours first, they are very helpful. I am part way through converting a short bus for eventually full time van life, thanks for the tour, always find good ideas I could use. I am also trying to do for the rustic look, it is something I have always like but never been able to do.
What a cool little project, me and my siblings were thinking of doing one, so good to know it can be done in our poxy little uk streets and not pay for a workshop.
Kitchen looks great with a proper oven as well. Only problem with that position is you have to get out the cab to get in the back. Do you cover the batteries when travelling? Exposed terminals look a bit risky.
Hey, yeah, we love our oven! We actually wanted a design where the cab is separated from the living area. For us, we want the back to feel like a separate home from where we do all the driving. We don't cover the batteries. The likelihood of anything touching the terminals is minimal really 👍
Hello , just found and watched 4 of your vlogs , what a brilliant job you have done converting your van , you've both done an excellent job ! Happy and safe travels to the both of you !! 👍👍
I had the Butane Dometic fridge in mine. Butane gives off Carbon Monoxide if not properly burned and my Dometic sent my CO sensor wild. I fitted my van with three sensors and would recommend ensuring gas powered fridges are properly ventilated or it risks not waking up in the morning. But definitely sensors are required, regularly tested and batteries replaced.
@@OverlandingSophia Hence I was careful how I worded it. It was a general statement. I struggled with electric - mine was using evaporation (a heater element) to do same job as butane. I assume a compressor fridge is more energy efficient? If so I will order one!
So long as you have a Portable pottie you are good to go and can also doing sponge baths in sinks. But the younger generation does showers I guess. LOLI like your interior very homie. Good luck in your travels and stay safe!
Verry nice build, I think you must have 1-2 fire extinugishers ready accessable. The table looks a bit low for working, so i would get back pain. But you are still jung and probably will have no issues with it.
Wow I watched the before and the after, all the way down of building this beauty and I am stunned! You are such a great team together 😊 I hope it will serve you well wherever you will decide to go 😊 would you mind to make a video talking about the cost of the whole project when you get a chance pretty please 😊🤗 sending you big HI from Ireland 😊
Ah amazing! Thank you for sharing our build with us and watching the whole thing. You're the best 💞 It's the biggest project we've ever done together and we couldn't be happier now we're in Sophia full time 😊🚐 The build cost was probably around £8k, excluding the van. We were really bad at keeping costings after halfway, so that's a rough estimate! Sending lots of hugs to you in Ireland, from us and Sophia 💞🚐xx
You guys should be very proud of the van conversion. It is by far one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. I hope to do a renovation to a 1989 Ford Courier next year. What a gorgeous van build. My favorites are the two ceiling lights with the copper tube connection and old fashioned copper light switch. Definitely going to try and do that. I really want the wiring to be accessible. Love the color in the kitchen, just the right amount. Very lovely!! Safe and happy travels!!!

I did same the portaloo slid in to the wardrobe base the shower was open the back doors back up to a wall and get the bucket out
24/7 gym membership required. That would be the way I go too.
Have you got a price list anywhere. For how much you charge
How much did it end costing?
Including buying the van and all the tools you used?
You literally built this at the perfect time.
A great layout. Clearly no compromises necessary with a LWB Sprinter!
The ceiling "ivy" is a greatc, stylish touch.
I'm rather envious!
It’s stories like this that have made me want to do it again, I can’t wait haha
